Thai Electric Cables Mostly Fail Global Safety Standards
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I only buy from reputable dealers. Problem solved. -
Ok, then don't watch them. I learned a lot from Peterson. But recently he is too much into religion for my taste. But that doesn't mean I can't learn anything from him. Joe Rogan has sometimes interesting guest. I like some of them, and other I don't like. And I watch some of his videos, and others I don't watch. I.e. I didn't watch his interview with Alex Jones. But I don't blame Joe for talking to that guy on camera.

Israelis in Thailand on Alert After Security Warning
OneMoreFarang replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Only because Jews and Israelis are sometimes victims don't mean they are always innocent victims. Those Israeli hooligans are definitely not innocent. That doesn't mean it's ok to hurt them. But they should not pretend the violence happened for no reason.- 154 replies

The problem is that "his reputation" depends a lot on who writes or talks about him, and others. I.e. in The Guardian Joe Rogan and Jordan Peterson and other are called "far right". I saw lots of videos from those guys. They are definitely not far right. Joe Rogan is open minded. He supported Bernie Sanders. And not long ago he said he would not talk to Trump because he does not want to give him an audience. But then, he talked to Trump, and he would have talked to Harris. But she didn't want that. Why? Joe Rogan has hundreds, maybe thousands of videos out there. Just watch some of them and make up your own mind. Repeating what others say about his reputation is a bad excuse. And for the record: I also listed from time to time to people which I don't like, like Trump. But often a couple of minutes are enough.

Thai Electric Cables Mostly Fail Global Safety Standards

I mentioned it because it shows the sad situation. Imagine a DIY person goes in there to buy cable. What would he buy if most cables in the shop had an earth wire? And what does he buy if not even one of the cables on offer has an earth wire? -

Thai Yazaki Electric Wire -
He accepts if his guests want only water or coffee. No problem. And he is happy to share a drink or two with people who like that. Everybody can do whatever makes them comfortable. Personally, I am fine meeting people without alcohol - and I never too drugs. But it's interesting to see how people behave after they had a couple of drinks.
-
Joe Rogan does relaxed interviews for hours. Preferable with alcohol or other drugs to loosen up his guests to show who they really are. And he is open to listen to (it seems) anything. Let people talk. When some people talk it sounds very interesting. When others talk they are full of <deleted>. Joe Rogen gives them a chance to show themselves. And obviously many people, and many of his guests, are a little bit like this and like that, they are humans. A fixed interview in TV studio somewhere in Washington is not his style - for a good reason. Lex Fridman has a similar but also different style. Also, hours long. Both have often interesting guests.

Additionally, the concept of having an earth wire seems to be considered luxury by many in Thailand. When I started my renovation, I looked in HomePro for cables. They had lots of cables, sizes, colors. But all only with two wires inside. Sad. I ordered cable online from a reputable brand. -
18 is/was legal in Thailand. Not all girls tell the truth how old they are. And some even have (fake) ID cards which proof that they are old enough. Yes, she was 16, and no, I was not over twice her age. And, as I mentioned before, I took her out of the bar. I don't think any realistic alternative would have been better.

Criminal property damage , worth pursuing?
OneMoreFarang replied to kman90's topic in General Topics
Open and shut? It was a bet. He said his phone is bomb-proved. He insulted me and Thailand. I am sure there are lots of things the guy can bring up. Will it help? I don't know. But if you have to hire a lawyer for a civil case and the chance that maybe in a year or more the other guy is declared guilty, what's the point? -
My one is different! And maybe you are just too old for a teenager. 😉 Ok, seriously, how many teenagers work from the age of 12 and more or less have to support themselves and take care of themselves? Not too many. The fact that my gf was without parental supervision since that age made her not the average teenager. In a way this situation made her stronger. But on the other hand, she missed a lot of what children and teenagers normally learn from their parents at that age. It's complicated.
-
No. And I know it is difficult to get it right. This is one of the reasons why I decided not to have children. I would want to be a good parent. But I am not so sure I actually would be a good parent - even if I would try hard. I read many phycology books, and I have an idea how many things can go wrong.

Her mother died when she was young. When she was about 10, she went to work far away from her village with her father and his new wife. Not long after that she run away, alone, to see some other relative about 1000km away from where she was. There she worked in a coffee shop until she was 16. And then her older stepsister decided it's time to bring her to Pattaya. When I met her and asked her to live with me, she was happy to go with me to Bangkok far away from the family. I promised her to take care of her and that is what I did and do. And all that happened many years ago. We are still together and mostly happy. Unfraternally, I saw too many daughters with too little care from the family. Sometimes the family has no money, which is obviously a problem. But there are also too many parents who think working all day and making lots of money will somehow make the kids happy. It doesn't.

Good luck that this is his only weak spot. Or maybe not?

I think that many parents, especially in Thailand, don't do much parenting. They somehow "think" that their kids will grow up just fine without constant guidance and love from the parents. Unfortunately, this goes wrong too often. Or in other words: For normal girls, the idea to work in bars with lots of horny old men is scary. If teenage girls prefer that compared to being home with their parents, then something went very wrong.
-
Correct. But then, if one carefully selects the right people, then there are fewer people who have to be fired. Looking at Trumps past, he fired lots of people who he previously called "the best". Trump "style".
-
I think the best for all of us is to wait a little. I am sure it won't take long before he fires people who he previously praised as the best. Obviously when he fires them, they will be losers. He will continue to lie, and he will f@#$ up things, that's his character. I am sure after a while at least some of his voters will realize that it wasn't such a good idea to vote for that idiot again.

Thaksin Campaigning in Surin Within Legal Limits, Says Deputy PM
OneMoreFarang replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Somehow, I remember he promised us no politics anymore, he only wants to play with his grandchildren. Did he lie? I am shocked! -
Obviously, that also brings up the question why the daughter run away from the mother. How many teenagers would do that if they would feel comfortable at home?

You are wrong. Initially I thought like above. Then I saw some internal numbers from 5-star hotels. About the third weeks of each month, the income goes down. And then in the first week of the next month, the numbers go up again. Not only the poor people struggle with their money.
