Thanks. I don't think possibly vibrating wood is a good idea. The Klipsch look about what I want. I still have to check the exact height which I need, and I have to check that the mounting holes on the stand and speaker match. 15k (for one or a pair?) is a lot of money, but maybe I would spend it if they are perfect. I think basically they are a few pieces of steel welded together. If should be possible to get the same in Thailand custom made for less - at least that is my hope.

What is the best way to watch old movies at home in Thailand?
OneMoreFarang replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Entertainment
Yes, if there are lots of seeders. Otherwise, it might take a long time. -
Thanks for the reminder. I found something which looked promising, made in Thailand and today I contacted the manufacturer in Thailand. Unfortunately, the top plate of their stands does not match the holes in the bottom of my speakers. Maybe it's time for me to visit NEP and look what they have in their showroom.

Yes, with relatively good sound isolation and only one neighbor who is often not at home. I don't really want to play very loud music; I want to play music in best possible quality. To be able to do that the speakers should be at the perfect height. And the stands should be stable and not vibrate in any way. Lots of experts like the idea of stands filled with sand.

I have some powerful speakers (studio monitors), and I need some speaker stands for them. One option would be ready made, i.e. from steel, or custom made according to what I want. My speakers have mounting holes in the bottom and I want to screw the stand together with the speakers. Best case would be if I can fill the stands with sand for vibration damping. Does anybody here have a recommendation? I have something like this in my mind - just a rough idea. or

Thanks for all your comments. Until now the summary seems to be: There is no easy comfortable way. A little here, a little there but nothing like: Just install and pay X (not Twitter) and all will be fine. Amazing. I would think I am not the only person who likes to watch old movies without hassle. By the way, for Audio I use Roon. Most of the time that is very good. -
Smart Home automations - anybody using?
OneMoreFarang replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Alternative/Renewable Energy Forum
Likely there will only be a small electronic board which has to be replaced. Just ask them if you can upgrade your system. Maybe you can. But obviously it also can be that they changed "everything" and there is no easy way to upgrade it. -
Does it really matter is there are old blurred pictures or new blurred pictures?
-
It's always amazing that camera resolutions get better all the time, by now it is probably 100 times better than 10 years ago. But all those UFO pictures are always blurred.

Smart Home automations - anybody using?

That is a challenge. Just in case there will ever be a Thai electrician looking at my setup I am sure his first thought will be something like: WTF is that? -

About 3d printers - not really about this thread. I have an Original Prusa i3 MK3S+ which is very good. I use it from time to time to print thinks which I construct myself and which are not available to buy. Recently my Toshiba rice cooker's closing mechanism (a plastic part) was damaged. I looked and found a 3d print. Great. So I printed it, and it fit. But unfortunately, when the rice cooker was hot id deformed. (yes, I used the recommended material). At the end I searched the usual shopping sites and bought the original Toshiba part which works just fine. What I learned from that: Yes, it's possible to do a lot with 3d printers. But sometimes it is best to just buy the original part - if it is available. -

It obviously depends on what you need, how accurate it should be and how many Amps it can handle. I bought a couple of above. Until now I installed only one of them for testing. It seems to do the job. In the near future I plan to use four of them on my ACs. I have easily accessible wall boxes where I can put these little things inside. -

Yes, that's what I do mostly until now. But like I said, I would be willing to pay, if there is a good service available which makes it easy to just click and watch. -

I know YouTube has some movies. But to find a full-length version of that I like seems to be very difficult. I am willing to pay for a good provider if I can just select a movie and watch and I don't have the hassle to search and maybe watch a few minutes and then find out the movie is some edited version of what I want. -
First, I didn't watch TV for years, I know Netflix exists, and that's about it. Until now, sometimes I watch old movies on my PC. Maybe I downloaded the files somewhere, maybe a YouTube video, something like that. Now I think about buying a big screen (I guess they are still called TV) and mostly I want to watch old movies. My gf has a Netflix account. I looked up a couple of movies and many of them are not available. Here is what I searched for and didn't find: The Blues Brothers Dirty Harry Sergio Leone Once Upon a Time in the West Harry Potter Is there maybe a premium version from Netflix which would include these movies? What are alternatives in Thailand to see movies like above and many more on demand? Obviously, I can still try to download some of them, but sometimes this takes time, and it would be nice to just go to some screen, write down what I want, and watch it. If the option exists to select the language and/or subtitles that would be good. I also don't have a big screen (TV). What features do I have to look for to show movies like I described. I am not really interested in watching modern series or news on TV. What do you use? What do you recommend? I don't mind paying a monthly fee or per movie if the cost is reasonable.

Lots of devices from many manufacturers use ESP32 chips. And many of these devices can be flashed with ESPHome. I use those devices in my home automation with Home Assistant. I have a good 3d-printer, until now I didn't use it in combination with my home automation. It's a nice tool to have, but not necessary. -

Falangs are always fighting alone, and some people try to separate them. Thais fight in groups (or at least one group) and all around enjoy the show. Hit him! Kick him! TiT
