Central has a large selection. Both cheap and pricey options. I use induction and love it. However, I noticed my frying pans don't last long before they start to warp. I read online that this happens to pans that are larger than the induction area. They don't get an even heat distribution. Regular pots are fine. I am thinking to invest in a ceramic coated cast iron pan. They are pricey but solves the problem.

My non stick frying pan cooks much faster in the middle on an induction hob. Eg scrambled egg.

When you go looking, take a magnet..... a strong fridge magnetic sticker will do. Look at the base of the pan. If it is a magnetic inlay, be very wary, some do not work very well. Also be wary of cheap laminated bases, the layers can separate under the thermal stress.

The cheapest Chinese flat bottomed woks and pans work well. Zebra and Meyer are reputable, but again, test with a magnet. Ikea do some very good cookware.IMG_20240305_100154_144.thumb.jpg.3d3170ddb131449ba14e87c7166a847b.jpg

I made my own griddle out of ¼" mild steel plate, seasoned with oil and salt, it has lasted 10years of use with no rusting, and cost buttons!IMG_20240305_100129_714.thumb.jpg.ad1392bfb1496a8c5c9f4d76d8750d41.jpg

I was given a tip for testing the quality of stainless steel. Any magnetism was a contraindicator as to quality. I had a lot of ss work done at my house 15 years ago. I tested the steel while it was still being shipped. No magnetism. 15 years later, no rust. But induction requires magnetism, so I guess the opposite is true. 🤔

  3. I'm with 3bb. For about 10 days on and off I've had the dreaded blue buffering circle going round and round. My IPTV had become completely unwatchable, so my provider did numerous checks and reported their servers were working normally and offered a print out of their output speeds. They reckoned my bandwidth was being throttled.

So today 3bb showed up, and last thing the engineer said was, he'd removed all blocks and limiters on bandwidth. I'm on the 300 Mbps package. So it suggests 3bb where throttling. I'll know as I go.

Can those who have had a colonoscopy in Thauiland give region, hospital and price so others can have useful info if they decide to have one?

    PH

Trad Bangkok Hospital. Maybe 6 or 7 years ago. About 8k THB IIRC. Stayed in overnight, which wasn't included, and in most cases, probably not necessary but at doctor's discretion, and state of wallet. Useful if you have inpatient cover. Was given a DVD of the whole procedure, as was out cold. Later found a copy on .... No, only kidding. Wouldn't surprise me though.

It is recommnded if you are 50+ years old,  to prevent colon cancer, so doctors will recommend to have it done.

I had it done at Bumrungrad Hospital, Easy procedure,  a few hours,  they will give you some  kind of laxative at the hospital to help empty the bowels,  you go home the same day.  Procedure bit uncomfortable but I think worth it, as can prevent you getting cancer.

It can't prevent it, but definitely give early warning. And you were conscious the whole time?

The doctor has recommended me to go for a colonoscopy

No reason just a check as I get old.

I'm thinking of waiting until I get to Thailand/Philippines in June

But my questions to you are , is a colonoscopy needed if Yoh have no symptoms of bowel disorders?

Im scared to get this done as they have to put you to sleep apparently and they may talk about me and make jokes etc

They should video the whole procedure and provide with you a copy on DVD along with the report. SOP. Literally!

I just did my 90 day report at Jomtien last week.  Done and out in 30 minutes.  Jomtien is getting huge crowds simply because there seem to be a record number of tourists, especially Russian.  Considering the mobs that descend on the place daily, I think they do a pretty good job.  Too many here do not educate themselves about exactly what is needed and then when whatever deficiency stops the process, it's Immigrations fault.

The new buildings constructed late last year have helped relieve the congestion at the front entry.  Have your papers prepared and bring a book and you'll probably be done sooner than you expect.

You can do 90 day online. Really couldn't be simpler. They even send out an email well in advance letting you know when it's due.

Sure, you were spending a lot before though.

My AIS is 200b monthly top up via their app. It was initially a 6 month 'deal' in their shop, but as long as you top up it just keeps going. Unlimited data - maybe 10 to 15mbps??

Good for emergencies if my wifi is down. But saving 5,000b by swapping wifi for sim card is about 1 hours work per year! I'm not yet at peak frugal 😉

I have the same on AIS in my phone. Plus the same deal in my house router 300km away to relay motion detect pictures from my Chinese CCTV cams to me wherever I am.

Suppose you enter a taxi at a rank in Bangkok and you want to go to Pattaya for a fixed price. Firstly you and the Taxi driver come to an agreement what that price is. Tolls do not even need to be mentioned. If you and the taxi driver agree to a fare of 1,400 Baht, then that is what you pay at arrival in Pattaya, plus a tip if you so wish.

The driver has always asked about tolls in my experience using the same trip. Maybe 1200 excluding tolls.

You certainly can. But you must use a VPN connected to your home country, and give them an address (can be any, a friend's or a family member's), and a phone number.

You will even get your physical card sent to your door in Thailand by DHL, if you say you're on a vacation there, if they ask.

Been there, done that. I opened an account while in Thailand.

    Then you're good to go.

Quite honestly, I don't see the point. Wise does everything I need without VPNs, fake addresses or fake phone numbers.

is the use of capitals supposed to indicate that you are actually shrieking ?     No of course I have never driven a taxi, but have sat in plenty in Bangkok  and without fail toll money is collected at the point of payment never at the end of the journey.  They did not refuse to pay the fare the argument was clearly only about the toll fee, we will never know exactly what was discussed and agreed.  The police, who were at the scene and spoke to both parties, and  who are not exactly famous for taking the side of foreigners were prepared to accept that it was possibly the result of language or communication problems, but based on your own prejudices, you have arrived at your own conclusion from reading a badly written article with very little detail  from a source which is far less reliable than any tabloid newspaper I can think of.

Hardly surprising as your comment indicates that you are or have been a taxi driver, I am well aware how "difficult" some people can be , I am also well aware how devious some taxi drivers can be, to the extent that considering the lack of details, I would take her account of the matter with a pinch of salt.Had they "done a runner" after refusing to pay the entire fare I might feel differently. in any case they didn't "run" very far did they  and they did not appear out of breath in the video.

She did her job,  they did not refuse to pay the fare , they were never accused of that ,  They were stupid to argue over a small toll fee, she was equally stupid and more than a little bloody minded not to accept the police's solution

You are of course perfectly at liberty to believe what you want , as am I,  and your opinion on the matter, just like mine, is really neither here nor there. Shrieking will not change anything or add any credence to your opinion, just the opposite in fact

"Hardly surprising as your comment indicates that you are or have been a taxi driver"

I was a London cabbie. Almost every journey was on the meter. It took me 2 1/2 years to get my badge. Losing it for whatever reason would have been a total disaster. Arguing with customers, fighting, overcharging etc etc would have jeopardised it. I tend to pitch in when I see a lot of ignorant comments about taxi drivers. How they should learn English, how by nature they're dishonest scammers, like they're some kind of low life scumbags. So don't use them! They're not really in a position fight back.

So what did they think they were agreeing to when the driver explained the different routes? As you say, trying to piece together the whole story is impossible. But there's no doubt if they came on toll roads, they should have paid the tolls, if that's what they agreed to, and she should have collected the money at each toll. They slipped away, and she's presumably left out of pocket. Google translate doesn't always work. But she felt aggrieved enough to wait for the police. If it was a scam, and she never actually came on the toll road, would she have bothered? If that was the case, well then she's got no sympathy from me.

Oh you mean, make up your own version to fit your prejudices? Running off without paying is called bilking. Now, what motive would she have to make that up? She's been ripped off, and I can tell you from my own experience, taking somebody to their chosen destination and have them do a runner can REALLY MESS UP YOUR SHIFT, OK? Have you ever driven a cab? Do you know how difficult people can be? She's done her job. They've basically refused to pay her for it.

I thought I read somewhere the whole COVID thing was an elaborate hoax to get us (the sheeple) to stop using cash and do what we're told and own nothing. Isn't that what the Great Reset, Bill Gates, the WEF and all the other conspirators want? What happened to that theory, and where did the theorists go?
