  1. The only way is Ethics. But it's simple. It's a criminal assault. Nothing to do with ethics. This man was heavily involved in overthrowing a democratically elected government. Why is he still at liberty? Compared to tabling an amendment to a law, the coup Meisters' crimes are orders of magnitude greater. They should all be behind bars, and I don't mean serving drinks, although that would be nice, too. Try living off tips, Mr Roly Poly.
  2. I agree. He's booked in for highly lucrative lecture tours in the US and has been accepted back to Harvard. The captain has left the sunken ship. A career politician.
  3. Jeez, who's running this country? And look, no neck brace, no wheel chair, no problem. 2023 photo on his return.
  4. If I was Thai I'd have hired a lawyer to petition the EC or the court who paroled him to notify them of parole violations. I know he's off parole now but this has been going on for months. How does he get away with it? He's a convicted felon, never mind the ridiculous "Certificate of Innocence". He was found guilty. The only way he can be found not guilty is at a retrial, for which there have to be very good grounds. He has a criminal record. Isn't that enough to shut him up?
  5. I suppose he could have forgotten posting it.
  6. Makro and other big supermarkets, eg Big C Extra, have Yolida in a variety of sizes. Check out the labelling. And use erythritol for sugar substitute. Tastes like sugar, looks like sugar, but human guts don't absorb it. Can order from Lazada. It's not expensive. I order 5kg at a time. Lasts about 6 months.
  7. I'm in almost complete agreement. My experience with lo carb over 18 months. Went from 95kg to 80kg, and no gym! Forced me to rethink all my meals. An education in itself if you remove the 4 no-nos and fruit! But strawberries are ok, and star fruit (in season now). Keto heads cheat by calling avocados, olives and tomatoes fruit, which they are, but they're hardly a ripe juicy mango. I discovered what matters most in a diet is satisfaction. If you remove all your staples, you're left with precious little that makes you feel full and satisfied. The Japanese call it umami. It's essential, to keep you satisfied. I found blue cheese supplied it, and bought a kilo at a time from Siamburi. Shiitake mushrooms also. And I disagree about coconut milk. Low in carbs. I lived on pork belly stew, good quality beef mince, and chicken with a whole variety of weird and wonderful veg, for 18 months but varied it every time I cooked. Entirely satisfying. No snacks except nuts. Protein shakes with high sugar free yoghurt content, coconut milk and plant protein powder.. High fat, medium protein, low carb is the keto mantra. Sounds counter intuitive but it worked for me. Until I got fed up with it's cultish requirements. If you must, on any packet, always read the ingredients sticker. Carbs are always listed. And sugar.
  8. Plus, it's a bit close to PT and PPP. The party they took over was called White Crow. Distinctive, if nothing else.
  9. Their ultimate demise will be their inability to mount any sort of serious defense. The most pathetic capitulation I ever saw.
  10. I read in the last UN report on migration in Thailand there were ~4,000,000 migrant workers working in Thailand. Nailing a few 100 might look good in a press release but is otherwise meaningless.
  11. The Pak bung is usually almost inedible due to its requirement to be chewed for 5 minutes for each mouthful. And is usually swamped in oyster sauce (Naman hoy) and msg. There are a lot of vegetables which as foreigners we never get served or even see. If you go to a big veg market like Ratonogorn on Thepprasit in Pattaya, you'll get an idea. Generally foreigners get served Thai dishes that, like Indian dishes in an Indian restaurant, are geared to what Thais have learnt wins approval for a typical Westerner's palate. Sweet curries, nothing bitter, except maybe a gourd, not much sour. You want spicy? Nit noy ok? You get the picture.
  12. Crispy pork low calorie? On a bed of white rice? With a probably heavily sweetened basil compote? For low calorie, eat unsweetened sour curries or jungle curry (geng pa). Tom yam should be lo cal unless with prawns. Omelettes if not dropping in oil. Yam (Thai salad), laab (minced spicy meat), are dishes I used to pig out on when I was a keto head. Thinking lo carb might be more helpful for weight reduction diet. No rice. No bread. No noodles and no potatoes. For as long as you can.
  13. So why does anyone need an HSR? I've never travelled on one, but I certainly would if I had the opportunity. I'm going to try out the Lao/Kunming one one day. It connects to 45,000 km of HSR that runs all over China. Might mix it in with domestic flights. The airports are state of the art also. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-speed_rail_in_China https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beijing_Capital_International_Airport
  14. Totally agree, chaque à son gout. I can go green curry or paneng, or decent sausage and mash. But good Thai curry is a lot easier to find here than a decent banger, for sure! PS I quit booze many years ago. Call it virtue signalling if you want. It has it's upsides and downsides.
  15. In a land of 1.6 billion people, how else can you get anything done? Sure the CCP are brutal, but is there any other way? They modernised China in what, 70 years, from a largely peasant economy to what it is today. Not perfect, but they've caught up and overtaken a lot of western technology, and developed an extraordinary infrastructure. In the UK they've been arguing about a 3rd runway at Heathrow for 50 years, and still no progress. People have to make sacrifices if they want progress.
  16. That's twice you've been incelredibly rude about somebody's suggestion. This is normal, though, for you. You don't have anything helpful to say so just make nasty comments about other people's. The photo is exactly how Thai food is presented in many markets. Curries, stews, rice, vegetables, whatever. How long have you lived here and not been aware of this? Or do you just live on American fast food?
  17. His father is Russian. Chances are, he speaks Russian.
  18. The kid's 5. I can't find any reference to him being fluent in Thai. Are you just assuming that? He will learn Russian if he lives there. He's just a kid. They learn fast. Father already speaks Russian, presumably. I brought up our 4 year old daughter in the UK after her Thai mum left. It's not rocket science.
  19. I think the other way round. I can imagine the Chinese appalled at Thai incompetence. Probably wondering how they got themselves into this mess. In China, in 15 years, they've built 1000s and 1000s of kilometres of high speed working track. But here in Thailand, it takes more than forever just to get 250 km from Bangkok to Korat. 14 contracts just for that stretch. And then to completely redesign a section of it. What can you say?
  20. Go home! You won't get the call up. It's your only hope, and you should be thinking of your lad. He needs school and mates he can play with. Put him first and all your troubles will melt away.
  21. Thai food is usually prepared on the spot, straight from the wok, piping hot. I shudder at the thought of cold krapow, pad Thai, tepid tom yam. Just find a decent Thai eatery and order. There are several on Thepprasit, almost adjacent to each other, opposite the new Kart track. Huge menus. Not rip offs. Many Thais eat there. Plus of course a million small places doing kwaytio (noodle soup), and all manner of rice dishes, etc etc.
  22. He whacked her over the head!
