  1. What do you mean by ANZ offered you a better than usual rate? The exchange rate is determined by the Thai bank isn't it?
  2. Did you transfer through your bank or use Wise?
  3. 2Mil. Baht is around $A80K, so it wouldn't involve too many transfers.
  4. I quit 8 years ago, so I've probably saved around 300,000 baht in Thailand.
  5. I agree, but I can't change the past. I will open an account with Wise and try transferring some smaller amounts first, just to see how it works.
  6. I have always done my transfers online with ANZ, limited to $10K at a time, which is all I needed to top up living expenses. That was the most convenient way for me as I only had to do it a few times a year. The exchange rate I got was whatever SCB gave me on the day, I didn't worry too much about it. This time I'm transferring a lot more than $10K, so the rate became a lot more important.
  7. That's quite a difference. As I'm transferring more than 30× that, it will add up.
  8. Thanks, but I'll stick with ANZ, it will be my final transfer with them. It's only around $30 to transfer no matter amount.
  9. Oh, OK, I'll be transferring direct from ANZ by phone
  10. 50,000 Baht cap? I transferred 1.5 million baht only a couple of weeks back with no problems.
  11. What do you mean by telegraphic transfer? Normally I just ring the international number and tell them how much to transfer, but you have to be clear you want the transfer in $AUD otherwise they send in Thai Baht and you really lose out. I Transferred $40K a couple of weeks ago and the operator didn't listen and transferred in Baht, and I got $1200 less than I should have, but they did reimburse me a month later
  12. I'm using ANZ, but if the transfer is in Aussie dollars what difference does it make.
  13. I'll be transferring a large sum in Aussie dollars to SCB next week, but I'm not sure what rate I get as there are a few, ie DD and TT, notes, TT, notes again, so which one is it?
  14. I've lost all my molars and only have top and bottom front teeth left, so as you can imagine this makes chewing difficult. I don't fancy normal dentures, apparently they have their limitations, difficult to chew meat etc, but have read about the Implant supported dentures. No idea of the cost in Pattaya, or who does them, so wondering if anyone has any experience with them.
  15. Three Thousand Years of Longing Haven't watched all of it yet, but what I've seen so far I've enjoyed. It's a fairy tale for adults basically. Available most places.
  16. Got bored halfway through first episode, seemed like a glorified soapie where nothing actually happens. Billions, it ain't.
  17. Emily The Criminal Really enjoyed this. Definitely one of the better offerings to be released recently. 7/10 IMDB. Available TG and probably elsewhere.
  18. When I was young I never had enough money to buy the things I wanted. Now I'm old I have the money, but no longer the desire to buy those things, so extra money would do nothing for me.
  19. Bought this house new in 2010 and it came with aluminium windows and sliding doors, that aren't what I'd call quality. They rattle around a bit and the locks are a joke. Thinking of replacing the lot, around 10 windows and 2 sliding doors, with good quality PVC. Any idea of what the cost might be?
  20. I got my reminder yesterday as well, but the actual reporting date isn't until the 25th, so it's a tad early.
  21. You can't open and inspect the item before you pay, so you're still stuck with trying to get a refund if the item isn't what you ordered.
