  1. No surprise there.

Well its looking more likely the killers could still be out there, while the BIB are deciding what to do next,

May I suggest the possibility this may not be such a unique event as first portrayed, others have been raped and even killed on KT recently

Time to start digging and looking for any other deaths, suicides, drownings rapes or serious beatings etc on Koh Tao and surrounding Islands over the years.

Watch the reports of rapes over this months full moon party or anything else of late like people winding up dead,

I reckon its worth looking into, a pattern may emerge.

Nick Pearson, Hannah Witheridge and David Miller ...All at Choppers Bar and Grill the night they were murdered

  2. Needing a work permit to exihibit at a trade show ? Sorry, but that is seriously retarded. Was in Beijing in June for a trade show. No such laws exist in China. "

How does that even work ? How long does it take to get an exihibtors work permit ? Also there are different sets of regulations for state run and private trade shows ? It would appear that there are two different economies in Thailand; the state and what is left over.

"Business operators who want to visit an exhibition in Thailand will also be exempted from having to get a work permit, but they will still need one if they want to open a booth or trade at a fair".

"However, if it is a state-run exhibition, such as "Thai-Fex World of Food", any foreign operator who wants to open a booth or trade at the event will not require a work permit."

Almost every year for 20 years I attended the company exhibition at the (OTC) Offshore Technology Conference held all over the world and never needed a work permit in any country. This seriously reveals Thai Immigration's ignorance of the real world outside Thailand.

  3. The civil service here is just like in any other developing country ... friends, brothers, uncles, cousins, sisters, nieces ... that is why they are still developing countries.

My last encounter with this was in Taiwan where a civil servant wanted money to approve my work permit. I brought this to the attention of the government. Subsequently, we leaned the guy never took a civil service exam and was the uncle of the local director. The guy was FIRED!

Heads up Thai government. Clean out the rubbish and you will succeed.

  4. Well then ... Thailand realy is a dangerous place for tourists and police are incompitentent and lazy if not downright stupid.

No more talk .... find the murderers. Restore credibility to the government.

These murders are not going away inspite of all the Thai style (hot air) speeches. In the past the police got away with their shenanigans. Not this time. (I hope)

  5. The government never sees evidence of mafia ... anywhere.

    From Wiki ...

Mafia is a type of organized crime syndicate that primarily practices protection racketeering — the use of violent intimidation to manipulate local economic activity, especially illicit trade; secondary activities may be practiced such as drug-trafficking, loan sharking and fraud. Being bonded together by a code of honour, in particular the code of silence (or omertà in southern Italy), safeguards the Mafia from outside intrusion and law enforcement action.

  6. Quite often, Thainess is "see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil". If the government wants to make Thailand a better place for Thai people, it must realize Mafia no longer means Italian criminals. After looking at the definitions of Mafia, Wiki sums it up best.

Mafia is a type of organized crime syndicate that primarily practices protection racketeering — the use of violent intimidation to manipulate local economic activity, especially illicit trade; secondary activities may be practiced such as drug-trafficking, loan sharking and fraud. So, ... there is no such activity as defined above on the island? I would be gobsmacked if the answer is there is no such activity.
