  1. Excellent introduction to the history of electric cars. The author is extremely knowledgeable.
  2. Make sense financially. You get most of the savings to power the house and EV without adding batteries
  3. It makes sense for China EV manufacturers to employ European designers for cars designed for Europe. BYD employed a previous head of design at Audi who was responsible for the first Audi e-tron to design the BYD Seal
  4. Home Solar and EVs make a great combination. I have excess home solar production in the middle of the day which I put into my EV. The result is no fuel bills and no bill from PEA.
  5. In response to the the usual “China Crap” comments. MG has a design studio in London, which is where the cyberster was designed.
  6. Have test driven multiple MG EVs over the years and never had to sign a form accepting liability. Try another dealer, there are plenty about.
  7. You might have to worry about where to get fuel for your old clunker in a few years time. EV sales in many countries already out strip Diesel sales. Fuel stations are being converted to EV charging stations.
  8. Australian website has gone live already showing the discounts have been removed now back at ฿1.4m for RWD
  9. “Wall box” is what EV owners call the box they fit on the wall to facilitate home charging. It can support EV charging at 7kW single phase and up to 22kW three phase as compared to … which only supports 3kW in 220v countries and half that in 110v countries.
  10. Even pre-facelift model 3s in Inventory are at list price
  11. Since we are talking Tesla Thailand. We have had no price changes here since I posted price information on 7th December 2022 Other countries have had steady price cuts. In Australia the RWD is ฿1.3m
  12. Took a snapshot to the model 3 page this morning (I know pretty sad) just checked now and you can’t order a model 3 but there is a link to inventory that wasn’t there before.
  13. @macahoom Any more to share? I am sure many will be interested.
  14. The loss of the Build Your Dreams Logo and the fish scales I will gladly live without, but no karaoke! ????
  15. I don’t know how much the Seal will cost in Thailand. We can’t use the price in China as it’s LHD and the Chinese market is super competitive right now. So my best guess is that the BYD Seal will cost more than the Atto 3 in Thailand as it is the Atto 4. BYD has been undercutting Tesla on price so we can expect that the Seal to be cheaper than the model 3 especially as Tesla doesn’t get any government subsidies. In conclusion I think the Hong Kong prices won’t be far off what the cost will be in Thailand. What we do know for sure is the price difference for each Seal model.
  16. BYD reveals electric Seal pricing in key right hand drive market BYD has launched its electric sedan in one of the first right-hand-drive (RHD) markets in Hong Kong Standard Range Dynamic – $HK309,000 (฿1,378,000) Extended Range Premium – $HK347,000 (฿1,548,000) AWD Performance – $HK376,000 (฿1,677,000) The Standard Range Dynamic 61.4 kWh 450 km of WLTP range v Tesla Model 3 RWD 60 kWh 491 km of WLTP range Extended Range Premium 82.5 kWh 500km of WLTP range AWD Performance model dual-motor 82.5 kWh 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds with “3.8S” badge https://thedriven.io/2023/08/29/byd-reveals-electric-seal-pricing-in-key-right-hand-drive-market/ These prices seem to fit with the price of the Atto 3 and Tesla Model 3 in Thailand
  17. Been watching those rumours today on FB myself but nothing concrete enough to post hence not worth translating but definitely RHD
  18. Aion Hyper GT apparently has the lowest drag coefficient of any production car in the world with a CD of 0.197. It starts at $30,600 in China. You can get it with a 70.1kWh 2 minute swappable LFP battery with 600km CLTC range
  19. In daylight ( doesn’t need bright sun) the solar panel powers the electricity motor which turns a chain drive to turn the paddles. I leave in running. quality issues. The supplied chain drive stretched and ended up jumping the sprocket. After adjusting it a few times I swapped the chain for a stainless heavy duty one.
  20. This is the aerator I bought on Lazada e: https://www.lazada.co.th/shop/ton-solarcell/
  21. Preventing lung cancer is woke? You don't need to buy an EV The charge applies to gasoline cars generally first registered before 2006 and diesel cars registered before October 2015.
  22. If you drive an older, polluting car anywhere in London, starting today you’ll have to pay a princely charge of £12.50 ($15.70) per day. In 2019, the British capital became the first city in the world to introduce a round-the-clock Ultra Low Emission Zone, inside which cars and other vehicles have to meet tough emissions standards or face a toll. That followed the implementation of road pricing in 2003 aimed at reducing congestion in central London. The tolls and fines fund a scrappage program - grants of up to £2,000 ($2,517) to every Londoner with a car or motorcycle that doesn’t comply with ULEZ standards. The ULEZ was expanded in 2021 and today it is widened again, this time to cover the city’s outer boroughs and suburbs. The charge applies 24/7 to gasoline cars generally first registered before 2006 and diesel cars registered before October 2015. https://edition.cnn.com/2023/08/28/cars/ulez-expansion-london-vehicle-emissions/index.html The CDC have said that diesel exhaust, and other air pollution are a high cause of lung cancer in non smokers after secondhand smoke and Radon gas https://www.cdc.gov/cancer/lung/nonsmokers/index.htm A ULEZ should be introduced in Thai cities like Bangkok if people were given enough notice and financial support together with an increased investment public transport. Do you agree?
  23. Valid point, but I think you can rule out the manual transmission (MT) Celerio for a like for like comparison. If assembled in Thailand with the Government subsidy it would be no contest. I bought my wife a new Suzuki Swift as her first car - a truly horrible car to drive IMHO. She said she would have chosen the Volt City EV over the swift if she had had the choice.
  24. Popped into my local Robinson to see a couple of cheap and cheerful EVs. Small on the outside and roomy on the inside. The Wuling Air EV is based on the China’s best selling EV the the Wuling mini EV. Wuling is a joint venture between SIAC motors that owns MG and General Motors. They are assembled in Indonesia and so won’t be getting any government incentives.
