  1. Isn't it great that over a billion netizens will be able to use their collective crowdpower to critique every facial tick and every word Putin says?
  2. Tucker Carlson Explains Why He Interviewed Vladimir Putin “Two years into a world that’s reshaping the entire world, most Americans are not informed,” Carlson said. “They have no real idea what’s happening in this region, here in Russia or 600 miles away in Ukraine. But they should know, they’re paying for much of it in ways that they might not yet fully perceive.” “We are not here because we love Vladimir Putin. We are here because we love the United States,” he said. “And we want it to remain prosperous and free.” The full interview will be available for viewing on TuckerCarlson.com, and “X” CEO Elon Musk reportedly promised not to “suppress” the interview once it is posted on his platform. (Also stated that it won't be behind a paywall) https://dailycaller.com/2024/02/06/tucker-carlson-putin-interview/
  3. And the hits just keep coming for Bidenomics. Credit Card and Auto Loan Delinquencies Continue Rising; Notably Among Younger Borrowers The report shows total household debt increased by $212 billion (1.2%) in the fourth quarter of 2023, to The report is based on data from the New York Fed’s nationally representative Credit card balances increased by $50 billion to $1.13 trillion. Auto loan balances rose by $12 billion, continuing the upward trajectory seen since 2020, and now stand at $1.61 trillion. https://www.newyorkfed.org/newsevents/news/research/2024/20240206 I don't know how much longer we can afford to keep on winning like this.
  4. 200,000 baht, indeed. According to the article, the Brit's part of the Israeli's settlement was over 3 million baht to make him go away. No telling what the popo got out of the deal, but I suspect it was more than 3 million. BTW, I'd check the veracity of the Israeli's ID. With a name like "Alias", I wonder if he just got an ID off the shelf and didn't pay extra to give himself a real name.
  5. Good info, and that's really what I was hoping to focus on here. I stuck this down in the pub because of the NYC aspect and the immigration aspects of the story, which will be controversial. But for me, the takeaway is that people a lot more tech savvy than I am may have some pointers... TBH, I don't know what a tech savvy bad guy can do to get around security measures, and how quickly. And I don't have a backup phone that would allow me to cancel my accounts faster than I can get back to the hotel room and do it on my laptop. Nor had I even considered that urgent. Now, I do.
  6. Here's an aspect of cell phone theft that I didn't realize was a thing. I always chalked it up as one of those hypothetical horror stories. But apparently, it's happening with some regularity in New York. A "tech guy" would then allegedly hack the stolen phones, access banking and financial apps and drain the accounts, police said. If they ran dry or the owners placed a lock on their money, the stolen phones would then be sent around the country or to Colombia to be reprogrammed and sold. Got me to thinking how much harm a nefarious actor could do me if they stole my phone. So I'll be pondering some steps to take to wipe non-essential account info from my phone. (In addition to using cheap phones, which I previously thought shielded me from big losses if someone steals one from me.) https://www.foxnews.com/us/illegal-masterminds-nyc-robbery-ring-hacked-bank-apps-resold-stolen-phones-overseas
  7. TBH, that was my first thought... Transfer it to her but keep it a secret from the fam. But then I laughed at myself. Even if the family didn't know, I don't envy her the inner turmoil knowing she had the wherewithal to keep Luigi from breaking her brother's legs, but she didn't.
  8. Gosh. I wonder how much they had to pay Dr Phil to shill for MAGA. “I wanted to talk to the guys heading this up,” McGraw said. “I have to tell you, you talk about some impressive troops down there. These guys are fighting a morale battle, because they can’t get what they need. And I wanted to know what’s happening down here? What’s really going on? We hear this number, 6 million people have come across under the current administration. I talked to experts down there that say that number is a myth, that it’s closer to 13 million to 14 million that have come across.” https://dailycaller.com/2024/02/05/dr-phil-tells-hannity-shocked-us-mexico-border/
  9. +1 Counterintuitive as it may sound, giving her the condo could cause her a lot of friction between her and her family. I've got visions of family members popping out of the woodwork to beg her to use the condo as collateral on a loan to pay off Luigi (or the Thai equivalent) so he doesn't break their legs.
  10. I guess you're forgetting the infamous Time article by Molly Ball where she bragged about how they changed the laws to keep Trump from winning: "Their work touched every aspect of the election. They got states to change voting systems and laws and helped secure hundreds of millions in public and private funding. They fended off voter-suppression lawsuits, recruited armies of poll workers and got millions of people to vote by mail for the first time. They successfully pressured social media companies to take a harder line against disinformation and used data-driven strategies to fight viral smears. https://www.foxnews.com/media/time-mag-report-touting-cabal-of-of-powerful-people-behind-conspiracy-shadow-campaign-to-shape-election https://time.com/5936036/secret-2020-election-campaign/?amp=true&__twitter_impression=true And when, in 2022, New York Dems passed a law opening a window for a year to allow Carrol to sue Trump. And that they're using laws that have never been used for purpose in NYC and Georgia to get Trump. So it's not the same law for everyone.
  11. Your response is off-topic speculation. Just admit you've got nothing. All it would take is a Muslim activist AG or DA to press charges and empanel a jury in a venue like Dearborn Michigan. Odds are, they could select a grand jury that would indict him, and a trial jury that would convict him.
  12. So you'd be okay if Biden got prosecuted for war crimes against civilians in Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Jordan, etc?
  13. So which of his interviews have you watched in their entirety?
  14. You're confusing rule of law with rule by law.
  15. You forgot the 3rd option. Being fine with being single and not looking at all.
  16. It's worse than that. Both parties have lined up a Plan B that pits Haley against Newsom. Haley, the warmonger against Newsom whose policies have decimated California. So even if you hate Biden and Trump, the alternatives on offer are even worse. Which explains the rise of Trump. He's today's only viable alternative to the uniparty. Nobody else has the stones and the ego to take on the entrenched political class.
  17. My heart goes out to the guy because it looks like he's in for a long road to recovery. And without any judgment about his choices, his experience can serve as a good data point about the dangers of scooters in Thailand (especially for those unaccustomed to Thai driving habits) and the chances that travel insurance won't cover scooter injuries. And that locals can't be counted on to have enough insurance or funds, either.
  18. So, the Supreme Court didn't actually rule anything... They kicked it back to the lower courts, where it may work its way back up to the SC. Or may be settled before it gets there.
  19. I'd rather stay on a higher floor and stay off the balcony. Staying on the ground floor increases the risk of being burglarized. I have 100% control over whether I go out on the balcony. Much less control over whether someone else breaks in.
  20. I think it's the difference between being able to see any sand between all the tourists taking selfies.
  21. One of the things I love about Thailand is how cheap it is to have someone tear into my smartphones and tablets to swap in a new battery. Or the bane of my usage, a new micro USB or USB-C socket, because mine always corrode. Back home the cost of labor alone would send me out to buy a new one.
  22. Over the years, it's been discussed many times that Thailand doesn't require an IDP from drivers from countries that have in place a bilateral treaty that allows us to drive in Thailand and Thais to drive in the reciprocal country for (generally) 90 days without getting a Thai DL. My source for that info (in addition to many threads here) was the Thai legal department of the US based company I worked for in Thailand.
  23. You mean like RFK Jr? https://tuckercarlson.com/the-tucker-carlson-encounter-rfk-jr/
  24. Fun as it looks, it's probably also the best way to get killed in Thailand. Between inexperience on a rental scooter and lack of understanding Thai driving habits, too many tourists renting scooters go home in an urn. And even more spend time and money in a Thai hospital. Not to mention that it's generally illegal, unless you have a MC endorsement on your back home DL. To the best of my knowledge there is no license exemption in Thailand for small scooters like there may be back home. So the bilateral treaty that allows us to drive for 90 days on just our home country license doesn't allow us to drive scooters in Thailand unless there's a MC endorsement on our home country license. Which can mean no insurance cover, but that requires reading all 100+ pages of your policy. And even then...
  25. So, let's recap... First, you want to revoke the citizenship of a conservative commentator, then you claim it's the conservatives embracing an echo chamber. Right...
