  1. Then why'd you mention Anti-Trump in the OP? Twice.
  2. See that guy on the OP photo? He's not technically counted in manufacturing. He's in transportation and warehousing. They're doing great, in spite of (or because of?) the tariffs. See those 11K construction jobs? They're building factories, too. Private education... Shouldn't that be dropping like a rock with all the student visa cancellations? What? The sky's not falling?
  3. Speedos. Dead giveaway in most of the world. Oz? Not so sure. I guess they call them budgie smugglers. Tip of the hat to @Spilornis
  4. I wonder if the OP found one of the "fake" TDAC websites? Which aren't fake as much as 3rd party websites offering the service for a fee. Legality is in a grey area and being discussed on other threads. Not hard to believe that some of them may not be up to scratch.
  5. Kudos to them. It's a step in the right direction. Hopefully, they'll take some learning lumps and get better. Have they done anything about the lack of trash bins? It's been awhile since I visited Patts, but I recall carrying my empty water bottle for 15-20 minutes before I came across one.
  6. Titanium plate stands at about $10 USD per kg today. (FOB China) That's 340 baht per kg. What does an implant weigh?
  7. What would have happened had she they firebombed a Ford dealership? And don't forget the other case in the OP where a lefty lunatic did over $20K of damage to TESLAs, and the judge decided not to sentence him to any time at all. He's just got to pay for the damages. That's like robbing a bank and all you have to do is return the money. Had he done $20K worth of damage to a bunch of BMW's, he'd be in the klink. But TESLAs? Nope. That wouldn't be in the community's interest to lock him up. I'd propose that it is in the community's interest to send a message that this won't be tolerated. But he's a lefty and Orange Man Bad, so...
  8. That's because the OP refers to woke. I don't. I refer to a dual standard of justice where protestors for the liberal causes are getting much better treatment than those who protest for conservative causes. It has little to do with race.
  9. What did I post that disagrees? Black defendants are statistically more likely to have an extensive rap sheet, so they are more likely to be denied bail. One can argue about the societal unfairness that gave them the longer rap sheets. But the fact is that they do. And, as others have posted, they're less likely to have a good job and a stable home/family situation to be released to. And don't forget that bail costs money in most places. So a good job, decent credit and cash in the bank makes a difference.
  10. Don't forget employment. Exceeding expectations. Again. Except Federal Employees. Sad for them. What does it mean when we have more taxpayers and fewer tax sponges?
  11. I'm certainly not disagreeing with you, but damn. 40,000 baht for a few grams of "prosthetic materials"? More like 350 baht for the materials and 39,650 baht for labor, overhead and profit. Heavy on the profit. For the lab, I mean. Not the local dentist. I wonder if it's like glasses in Thailand, that cost me 5x what Zenni charges online? Even more than I paid back in the USA. Rant over. I could use some dental work, mostly cosmetic. But not at those prices.
  12. I wonder how much of this is related to the unrest in the South and how much is just the random violence that happens everywhere? When I worked in Songkhla, I talked to a lot of the locals about the situation, and it seems a lot more complicated than I realized. Largely related to land grabs. I'll leave my statement at that. It's complicated.
  13. Yup. "The Beach" and "Lost in Thailand" both changed the landscape. And not toward the scenic.
  14. I've stayed at several hotels in LOS where the hotel has built onto the existing balcony rails so they're not so dangerous. Kudos to them. I'd hope that will become a licensing safety requirement. It's probably not an issue unless (like me) the tourists come from the nanny states where we expect to be protected by building codes. Early on my stay at my BKK apartment, I leaned over the rail to look at some birds fighting on the balcony below mine. I suddenly realized that my center of gravity was way out over the rail. Had my feet slipped, I was going over. It was an awakening for this nanny state escapee.
  15. I think that's when they took the photos that they show in the travel brochures. Or maybe even when it was shut down. Imagine the disappointment to show up and find the crowds in OP photo. (Unless, of course, you're young, dumb and full of looking to score.)
  16. I think that news is exclusive to Thai Airways. They just announced a safety upgrade from the FAA. Other airlines weren't barred. Just economic factors there.
  17. Is Doxycycline available OTC in Thailand? Seems like a handy thing to keep in the medicine cabinet to get a head start in case it takes a few hours (or days) to get in to see the doc.
  18. I got the sense that I had checked into the wrong kind of hotel in Asoke when the mini bar featured condoms and KY. Live and learn. Checked out the next morning. The room turned out to be smaller than the Orbitz ad. Tiny, in fact.
  19. Not much different than 150x as likely to get prison time for assaulting a cop on Jan6 than during the summer of love and peaceful town burnings. Just another data point. I'm not going to go through the numbers again (boring), but this tells a pretty good story: BLM: Over 16,000 arrests and only 70 of them got prison time. That's one per 29 injured cops. Jan6: Thats 7 per each injured cop.
  20. You probably listen to some Thomas Sowell, and not so many of the race baiters. They can argue all they want about why they have more arrests, less stable households and crappier employment histories, but facts is facts.
  21. I don't guess that has anything to do with the FBI stats that tell us that white folks are less likely to have a string of felonies on their records.
  22. Why would anyone take the effort and spend the money to go to an exhibition of what you can find 100x as much of on the interwebs? Unless, of course, it's a vanity project...
  23. I don't guess you realize that tariffs actually drive manufacturing into a country? That creates domestic jobs. Fear of tariffs forces companies to hire domestically because they can't ramp up production on a dime. They need the workers in place before the tariffs kick in. I'd sure hate to be the last company that snaps to that fact and have to settle for the dregs of the employment pool.
  24. You're welcome. Let us know if we can be of further assistance.
