Anybody that falls for a $200 electric scooter advertisement is going to be sorely disappointed.

Elon Musk Demands Federal Workers Justify Their Jobs or Face Dismissal
impulse replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I have bad memories of some of the idiot managers I've worked for over the years that had no clue what I actually did on a daily basis. I'd rather they ask me to justify my own performance. Which I have at many points in my career in the private sector. That's a lot more fair. -

To the extent that his popularity may (or may not) be slipping, I'd put it down to MSM demonization. Probably because the MSM has been getting so much dosh from the very programs that DOGE is ferreting out. That, plus they can't stand anything that Trump does. Not that I believe MSM polls, since they predicted a Harris win in 2024. If they poll their base, of course, they'll hate on Musk. And Tulsi. And Kash. And RFK, Jr. And Hegseth. -
The OP didn't specify whether he is looking for a pedal bike with electric assist or an electric scooter. I've had both types in both Thailand and here in China and I'm a big fan. Though I've never had a true motorcycle style (like the DECO's) that can be ridden at speed in traffic. I'd suggest he keep in mind licensing requirements on all the different styles. Frankly, one of the reasons I click on these threads is to see if there are any updates in the rules or the enforcement of the rules. Because these threads always devolve into a pissing contest between the fans and the detractors... On that note, has there been any real change in the regs?

How much per hour was Elon getting paid for that? Can you see where we may reasonably expect hourly and salaried employees to actually put out and elucidate a product or a service in return for paying them? And if they're in a paper pushing job (not uncommon in gub'ment), that one person approving 1500 widgets last week may be a keeper and another who approved 12 identical widgets in that same timeframe may not. -
I'll let you know when I have (take) the time to delve into it. Just got back from Bangkok and those trips are filled with funner stuff than fighting with my computer. I was able to download and install 1.5, but I haven't dug deep enough to notice any real differences from 1.4.1 That's probably deep in the settings menus.

I think he's been busy preparing to launch a spaceship to rescue the astronauts abandoned up there by the previous administration that refused to approve a rescue before the inauguration, just so no Trump supporters could look good. -

I always read stories like this and wonder what the real situation is. Did they just uncover a massive tax dodge where 90% of the rooms aren't registered? I figure that's just as likely, based on how many prostitutes they always find on those sweeps. -
Can Europe’s downfall be attributed to “white guilt”?
impulse replied to hotsun's topic in Political Soapbox
As I recall from my history books, that's what Hitler tried to do. Deport the Jews by the shipload. But none of the countries would take them in. So I'd say there's a lot of white guilt behind today's situations, all over the planet. -

I love the way they fearmonger labor shortages. What kind of labor? The kind that picks the crops and build the homes for the newcomers? Maybe there wouldn't be labor shortages if there wasn't a housing capacity crisis... It's not as if newcomers with a 3rd grade education from a 13th century technological (and theological) area are prepared to contribute more than they take. If they're truly going to contribute in the net, there are visa programs for them. -

My niece worked from home during Covid for a Fortune 50 company. If she wanted to go away for a few days, she pointed her VPN to Houston where she lived, and logged in from wherever. She didn't have the capability to spoof the cell tower data like that. But her managers were extremely happy with her performance, so I doubt they even tried to rat her out. Might have been different if they had layoffs coming. -

Who report to their superiors, who report to their superiors who report to The President. Who has authorized Musk to do the audits. Musk isn't out of line. The lefties and MSM are.- 183 replies

I'm looking forward to DOGE using cell tower data (a'la Jan6) to show where the employees who claimed to be "working" from home really were.- 183 replies

Years ago when I was in oilfield sales, the President of my Fortune 500 company would hop on a plane just to join in if I could arrange a golf day with one of our high dollar customers. Even better were the days I could arrange to go fishing with a good customer. There's no better opportunity for one-on-one time to bend the customers' ear than a golf or fishing trip. -
If that was the case, why would so many entrenched entities be trying to block their access to the accounting systems?

DOGE is revealing that the US contribution far exceeds the reported advertised direct support. That's in all kinds of programs, including Ukraine, NATO, immigration costs, free stuff for lazy people, DEI around the world, and a lot of other programs where the lefties wish the level of spending would stay under cover. I'd add that most fact checking sites are as suspect (or even more so) than the information they're claiming to check.

Ha! That's nothing. Get ahold of David Allen Coe's x-rated album if you really want to hear some smut. Reminds me of the misogynist (and proud of it) stuff we played at the fraternity. Like the "End of the Month" song. And we watched the Man Show, back when Kimmel was funny. Not so proud looking back as an adult. But that's all part of growing up.

I don't claim to know what's going to set off 2025's summer riot season (and 100% discount on big screen TVs), but it will be fun to watch how it transpires with the current DOJ. I am forecasting a bunch of crybabies screaming that they're getting locked up for stuff they used to do all the time. -

Do you honestly believe that any additional money the US dumped into Thai health care would actually filter down to Thai health care? I just got back from Kanchanaburi, where I visited the Allied graveyards and the Bridge on the River Kwai. That's what happened when Thailand was invaded and occupied by a foreign military. -
Just saw an Aussie broadcaster end his bit with "thank God he turned his head". I'm going to put that on a T-shirt. Darn near blew coffee out my nose when he said that.
