  1. Nope he didn't. It was all over the news. Fmr Volunteer Firefighter Chief’s Widow Confirms Call With Trump After Snubbing Biden The widow of slain former volunteer fire chief, Corey Comperatore, confirmed she had a call with former President Donald Trump after rejecting President Joe Biden’s call, according to The New York Times. https://dailycaller.com/2024/07/16/corey-comperatore-widow-confirms-trump-call-snubbing-biden/
  2. That was the job of that short Secret Service chick in the scrum.
  3. My dodgiest train experience was on the weekend tourist train to (and beyond) Kanchanaburi. A few miles away from civilization, the wheels started spinning on the wet tracks. So they let us out to walk the last bit. More funny than any kind of scary.
  4. I hope the OP posts back if he finds something that works and maybe even identifies the cause of his problem.
  5. Are you allowed to BYO? Not that I care since I took the oath in 1988, but just curious...
  6. I got off message there... My point was that I don't count avoiding the draft against either Trump or Biden. And given the USA's history of discretionary wars in the last century, I'm more afraid of electing a warmonger than a draft dodger. He/she will be surrounded by military experts in DC. And like FDR proved, he/she doesn't need to be the strategist. Just the best team builder. As for Kerry, I liked him until he started flying around the world telling the little people we need to reduce carbon and eat bugs. (I'm paraphrasing).
  7. Me too. Never again. Still, I have to admit... I'm glad I did it once, so my reluctance is based on experience and not some blog. Looking back over photos and videos from that trip, I forgot that I went from the border to Songkhla and stayed a few days there. I love Songkhla town and Samila Beach (shameless plug...). Then I went back to Hat Yai and hopped the train to BKK. If I ever do it again, it'll be on a daytime train, or at least one that has some good scenery in the light of day. If that's an available option.
  8. I don't know about commenting, but I'd love to see a video or photo. More than a witness statement. I've been looking and I haven't seen one. That's kinda suspicious given today's ubiquitous cell phones, especially seeing the many videos of Crooks on the roof. You'd think someone would have pulled out the handy and snapped a photo of other shooters.
  9. He just helped raise $4.5 million (and counting) for the families. The cad!
  10. Did he go to serve his country, or to bulk up his political resume?
  11. While I have nothing but respect for the guys who did go to Vietnam, I don't think less of the guys who saw the war for what it was, and refused. By whatever means was available to them. Even bone spurs, and student deferments.
  12. Gotta say, Phan looks just as good a suspect as the Burmese guy. If I was Burmese and happened upon my bosses' dead bodies, I'd be looking for the nearest border, too. Guilty or innocent. That's evidence of being scared, not necessarily being guilty. Of course, I don't claim to know what actually happened. Nor do I think we'll ever know, really. Usually, the story drops out of the news cycle. And even if it doesn't, the official proclamations are often not credible.
  13. Yeah. Like a Men's room in a Blue city.
  14. If that was "increased security", I'd hate to see what regular old security looks like. Anyone wanna bet that RFK Jr is surrounded by a bunch of lady agents today? I mean, they can't fire them and still maintain the Director's DEI goal, so they have to assign them somewhere.
  15. Sorry, but I'm not going to trust the "investigators". But here's a neighbor kid who claims the shooter was passionate about politics, hated all politicians, and called him stupid for supporting Trump. https://www.foxnews.com/video/6358216782112 Sounds like a sad, angry, and confused kid, with no real anchor in any particular ideology yet. He could have fit right in at just about any protest.
  16. But then you'd have to create a category for asthmatics who have to take disqualifying prescriptions because it gives them a respiratory advantage. That locked me out of competing in cross country when I was a kid. Strangely, I didn't see it as unfair, or even think about suing. Where does it end? Organized tournaments with one competitor in each sport and category? Where everyone takes home a ribbon... But no sponsorship $$$ or scholarships.
  17. Would those fact checkers be of the registered Dem persuasion, who outnumber the Registered Repubs in journalism by 10 to 1? Or maybe there were 51 fact checkers, like last time around?
  18. The team on the ground, what there were of them, performed admirably. It's the leadership that failed to allocate enough resources and sent 5'5" agents to an assignment where they were called on to shield a 6'3 250 pounder.
  19. I call your attention to the difference between the MSM and Musk's X: https://dailycaller.com/2024/07/16/trumps-secret-service-detail-rnc-conventionall-men-criticism-female-agents-assassination-attempt/
  20. Someone catch me up here... Have they explained away the 7th person? Because blaming one of the deceased seems pretty "convenient" for someone. Six Vietnamese nationals mysteriously died today at a luxury hotel in Bangkok after allegedly drinking tea and coffee mixed with poison. Police believe there may be a seventh Vietnamese but that individual has not been located. The group had booked seven hotel rooms but only five members checked in. Despite this, six bodies were discovered in the room. According to the police report, they had not yet paid for their accommodation. Officers are also investigating whether there was a mistake in booking the room or if the seventh person did not attend the scheduled meeting. Both statements above from Thaiger links.
  21. I took a train from Hat Yai to Bangkok once for "the experience". Never again. I actually started out in Kuala Lumpur, with a hotel overnight in Penang (that was good). And cobbled together trains, buses and a taxi from the Malaysian border to Hat Yai. Then a train onto Bangkok. In fairness, a lot of the scenic stuff ended up being in the dark, which made it totally not worth it. Maybe different if you can schedule during daylight, but the "bed" was miserable.
  22. If it's the one where they posit that the delay in sentencing is a trap, because sentencing him in July would allow too much time for an appeal before the election, I didn't watch that one.
  23. Not to pick nits, but he's only convicted when the judge accepts the jury's verdict. And he's no longer a felon when it's overturned on appeal. I hope the Dems enjoy that brief window.
  24. In 2025, she'll be 2nd Lady. In 2029, she'll be First Lady. I'm so looking forward to the VP Debate. I doubt the same can be said of Kamala.
