They "chose" not to prosecute before because you can't prosecute a sitting president. First, you have to impeach him. Which the Dems wouldn't vote for under any circumstances. After he's no longer the sitting president (and Kamala is no longer in the wings...) it may get good.

Edit: And if you look at who was next in line, I'm kinda very glad they didn't.

We could solve a lot of that with term limits. But that would require support from the very people who would be voting themselves out of the most lucrative job they'll ever have.

That's the downside of having a slow connection. I had read the article and replied before I even knew there were photos. If I was on my phone over weak 4G, I'd probably still be waiting to see that 2nd photo. And by then, I've lost all interest and moved on.

My heart goes out to the guy trying to find another room today. I don't know about Pattaya, but in the areas I scouted, every reasonably priced hotel was fully booked, and most of the flop house hostels. I ended up cutting my December trip short and flying out because of that. (And a stupid decision on my part...)

Nice try. Coastal erosion has been going on for billions of years. Long before industrialization. Look at the white cliffs of Dover for proof of that. But they just couldn't resist throwing climate change into the story. Or, more likely, the only reason the story was even written was to advance the narrative.

A now deleted post legitimately pondered that I may be plugging for the service (Nebula), and I admit it sounds like I am. But I'm genuinely looking for alternative suggestions that others have tried and recommend. And I'd also say that, if I had unfettered access to Youtube, X, etc, Nebula would be pretty redundant and not so attractive to me.

Do you drink processed pineapple juice, or do you juice fresh pineapples? Or does it make a difference to its effectiveness?

Recently enrolled in a $6 monthly subscription to nebula.tv, and it's worth every penny to me. But the content isn't very comprehensive. Personal circumstances have me staying in China where Youtube, Facebook, and other social media is blocked. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised that Nebula isn't blocked on one end or the other. Which got me to wondering, are there are other subscription content channels to try? Anyone got a favorite? (VPN, while available in China, is frowned upon and I've already been chastised by the ISP for using one. Since I can't afford to put my visa at risk, that's not an option)

That's been my experience in the real world. Even back in the nanny state where antibiotics are by prescription only, I've never been swabbed and cultured for a proper diagnosis. Not in 67 years of walking the planet, most of those years with a deviated septum that made me susceptible to sinus problems. In fact, I don't recall the last time I even saw a doctor for a sinus problem. They do that "diagnosis" over the phone now, and call in the antibiotic de jour, suggesting I call them back for another if that one doesn't solve the problem. Leading me to characterize it as a guess... An expensive guess.

Incidents like this make me wonder whether I should start packing a battery operated smoke/CO detector to use in hotel rooms. I can't recall whether the Thai hotels I usually stay in have smoke detectors (never mind whether they work or not). Seems like a good use of $15USD and a little luggage space.

Even a million old guitars sounds like a lot. But that's one per hundreds of closets. I once owned a late '50s Les Paul. I bought it from someone desperate for cash, and sold it when I was desperate for cash. Never even learned how to play it... I did the same with a Martin acoustic. Bought it, then sold it. Back then, it was similar to Thai people with their gold. Not quite as liquid, but almost. I shudder to think what they're worth today. (That was also long before the interweb and EBay)

I gave up on the idea of ever taking a double decker on a Thai road trip after seeing a factory where they take old frames, strip them down and rebuild them to look like new. The old frames, I can live with. It's the heavy use of plywood and lumber instead of metal structural components. In addition to the lack of strength, they're tinder in case of a fire. I'll gladly take a Thai bus of a normal configuration from a Toyota Coaster size to Greyhound bus size. But no kamikaze vans and no double deckers for this boy. Except on excursions around the city where the speed never gets deadly... For that, double deckers look fun.

We all know someone(s) who have a vintage guitar in their closet. I have one friend in Galveston that has a dozen on his wall. Probably $50-$100K worth. Maybe more. 200,000 may sound like a lot, but that's just one for every 1500 Americans. Cars OTOH, cost money to care for, to store, and to maintain them.
