  1. A man tells the genie his first wish and with a flash, a little foot tall man with a miniature piano appears and starts playing. The man looks at the genie and says "no, I didn't ask for a 12 inch pianist"
  2. I'm from close to Birmingham, all we need is a Birmingham screwdriver (aka hammer).
  3. 787.5 million. That's some tough negotiator there. I can imagine them getting to 787 million and still being squeezed for another 500k. All I can say though is "ouch" - that's a hell of a payout. It's the largest media payout ever. Still - I think insurance will cover some of it. But ouch. Heads should roll - it will be amazing if they don't.
  4. Aliens, apparently crop circles didn't get the message across
  5. Some people are just car people. To be very honest, I didn't get a 5 series 2nd time around because the AMG C43 was so cool to look at, so I got that - but not to look cool in it - but because it looks cool.
  6. I think some models are downright bargains - mostly because there's no comparable cars here. Like those with the M40i badge - 3 liter 6 valve little monsters they are. The 5 series is a great car, I had 1 and almost got a second - with theh 5 year warranty on them, the 530e, you have 184hp from the engine and another 109 from the electric motor - which sounds like fun to me. You won't regret it IMO.
  7. He should be out. Not a partisan issue this one. He's crooked.
  8. I think the satisfaction is in knowing you have to drive it with respect - so that the back end doesn't overtake the front end. A little controlled slip and slide is fun.
  9. There is a point where it becomes useless - my car is 392hp and a roadster - I couldn't use more power than that but I do floor it occasionally and it's very satisfying. The only problem is that it slips and slides a little as it's RWD. You could put 1000hp in that car - and you would not be able to use it as the thing wouldn't stick to the road. You'd have to be on slicks and have the wife in the trunk for additional weight over the rear wheels.
  10. No - the ATM was for the first payment and to get the bank details
  11. A drunk and uninsured bike hit our 5-series. Our insurance took him to the ATM and made him sign a bunch of direct debits to pay for the repairs. These insurance guys REALLY don't want to pay if their customer isn't at fault.
  12. I've had 6 accidents here, one was my fault. The other 5 people just drove into me. - One was a bus with 'brake failure' - One was an Ikea van skidding into me after hitting a motorbike - One was a drunk on a motorbike - One was a pick up with wide wheels who changed lanes into the one I was occupying - One was a guy turning right while I was going straight - One was me rear-ending a Camry as I'd gotten distracted by the kid in the back seat They don't call me lucky Larry for nothing. It's nonsense that the farang/richer always pay. The insurance people come out and agree who is at fault and if they don't agree, then it's off to the police station who will make a judgement on who is at fault.
  13. Haven't been to this one but I usually buy cars from the motor shows. -- you get a bigger discount if you have credit - they don't like cash, so make that clear up front -- you have to push really hard - their first offer is probably half of what they can do -- all the sales gals in (for example) the Toyota stand will be from different dealerships - don't be afraid to play them off against each other - chat with one, then go back later and chat with another asking for triple what the first offer was

  15. So effectively, NATO is now on Russia's doorstep.
  16. Yeah - but it looked pretty scary doing it. Land Rover is not made for those speeds
  17. OK - I'll start with the obvious classic in there - The BackStreet Boys
  18. This happened to me. It was a Mitsubishi dealership and a bus had hit the car - every panel was bent and every window shattered - it was a mess but repairable and the chassis was fine. After 6 months nothing had been done - it just sat there. So I went in with the wife, to talk to the service manager - got the usual brush off - and so went off to find the GM. Two people scurried off, so I followed where they went. They went to the offices and came out saying "she's not here" - so I went where they'd come back from and Lo and Behold, the GM (owners daughter) was sitting right there in her office. We explained it and at first she couldn't believe that a car could be there so long. Upshot was - she gave us her own car as a loaner (a bit hello kitty for me) and fired the manager in charge of repairs as he'd been taking bribes to jump the queue. We never got to play our trump card which was a report to some consumer bureau that covers the motor industry, which is available and I can find the details off the wife if you need them. But next step - see the GM of the place - it's possible they don't even knoe about it.
  19. Yes - this is the real discussion we want to have.
  20. To be fair - I got COVID and was good as gold in 2.5 days without Ivermectin. Mind you - it was Omicron and I was vaxxed with a booster at the time.
  21. If you want a bit of speed in a small car - the GLA 250 AMG has a 2 liter engine pushing out about 215hp - but obviously not for the budget conscious - still - it ain't $100k, so cheaper than they Yaris GT.
