You might also try taking Redoxan (Vitamin C plus Zinc, available in all pharmacies) daily during the periods when it bothers you. Zinc has a protective effect in the respiratory tract. Air purifiers in the house, and masks worn when outside, may also be of some help

I think we all know that English teaching in Thailand is quite sub-standard and does not in itself equip people to be able to speak and understand the language. For that matter, most Thai teachers of English are nto able to communicate effectively in it - a fact which is often reported on in the Thai media.

The problem is not legalization per se but: 1 - excessive hyping/over-promotion by government (tied to vested financial interests) leading people to think it is a cure all 2- failure of government to enforce existing regulations e.g. THC levels - again, linked to vested financial interests. There is a middle ground between the present situation and a return to jailing people for possession of even small amounts of the stuff.

From what he said, the card was returned, machine did not keep it. So no need to report it or replace it. Thread title ("ate my card") is misleading. The transaction simply did not go through. Maybe machine out of cash, maybe machine just not working.

Lazada and Shopee Poll....How often do you order online...
Sheryl replied to redwood1's topic in General Topics
I use both regularly. My experience is that Shoppee tends to cost a bit less and to deliver more quickly, but to have less items. So I normally check Shoppee first then move on to Lazada if what I need isn't on Shoppee. I also find that the search functions on both don't work too well (at least not in English) and it is often best to use Google instead. The Shoppee or Lazada listing I can't find on their sites shows up on Google readily. -
Evidence for ectoin is scanty with many studies indicating it won't do much more than plain saline nasal rinse. I don't know of any way to get it online, only one German company makes it. Local Dr is not going to offer much if anything and may prescribe unnecessary meds (like asthma inhaler) which just add to your problems. If it gets really bad I suggest coming to see this doctor in Bangkok : DR.SONGKLOT AEUMJATURAPAT https://www.saintlouis.or.th/en/FindDoctor Nasal irrigations with normal saline may help some. Can use a neti pot or just a bulb syringe. Are you sure the issue is air pollution and not seasonal allergy? For the later antihistamines can help.

That may be the case in that hospital but I assure you, from first hand experience, it is not at all the case in all hospitals nationwide.

Continuing to payf or medical cover under after retirement is not considering to be continuing "membership" under SS and I suggest you avoid that terminology which will confuse people. You are no longer a member of the SS scheme once you retire. But you can continue the medical cover only. The medical cover and the old age pension benefits are entirely separate. It is not true that choosing to continue medical cover in any way affects your benefits, though some people have erroneously been told that. (However, if you elected to take the monthly pension - an option only if you were employed 180 months or more - they might choose to deduct the cost of continued medical care out of it). Like I migration, local SS offices often have unclear/differing views of the rules. Any issues, call the head office.

Long COVID is not the same as COPD. As to whether it is safe for you to fly, you would need to ask the doctor treating you.

Health and Accident Insurance for Thai Partner.(female)
Sheryl replied to Jumbo1968's topic in Insurance in Thailand
Rental contract is nto sufficient in many places but I think Pattaya, with its high number of people working there who came from elsewhere, may be an exception. Best thing is for her to go to the government hospital which covers where she lives and inquire. Any problem, then contact the NHSO. Yes, all Thais know about this. All. OP's partner is not being honest with him about her reasons for wanting private insurance. -
Health and Accident Insurance for Thai Partner.(female)

Yes, but the person involved has to arrange to do that within 6 months of leaving employment. The opportunity is forfeited after that. Many Thais have never been under SS. Those who have it, rarely continue it after leaving employment, since they can get free health care under the "gold card" scheme. It is clear from OP that the person in question in this thread is not under SS. -
Best approach is to get all the records in hard copy and hand carry them to the new hospital. Will be up to the doctor you see there whether to include in your records though. In some cases it may be best to bring only the records relevant to the purpose of that visit (i.e. don't bother bringing records relating to a heart problem when you go in for a skin problem). You may be surprised at how sketchy the records prove to be.

Ectoin inhalation solution is not yet available here Do you have diagnosed asthma? Or is this just irritation from air pollution? Frankly moving to an area with less pollution is the best answer. Or - if in a place like Chiang Mai where there is a definite seasonal pattern to the problem - take a tyrip elsewhere the relevant months.

Nothing at all wrong with Thonburi. A solid hospital and many senior doctors from Sirirj have hours there. the doctor will know best in terms of how well equipped they are for a particular procedure and will let you know if he prefers to do it elsewhere.

As others have said, it can be gotten from a pharmacy but must be one with an actual pharmacist on duty, which us rarer than you might think Where in Thailand are you located? And has this previously been prescribed for you and worked well? I ask as it seems an odd/outdated choice given many better antidepressants.

PROCEDURES REGARDING THE DEATH OF AN EXPAT
Sheryl replied to sidleonard's topic in Health and Medicine
Your body will not be releases for burial/cremation until the US Embassy authorizes it. They in turn will do so only afterthey confirm next of kin have been notified. There is no avoiding the need to inform the Embassy. Where there is a spouse in country, permission to release the body to them is pretty quickly obtained. Your wife will need to provide the Embassy with a signed and notarized net of kin form, you can find it here https://th.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/death-of-a-u-s-citizen/ Aside from being necessary to get the body released, the Embassy can provde an English language notification of death abroad which your wife will need if you have any assets or entitlements from a US source (bank account, pension, etc). Thais do not usually use mortuaries. Rather the family arranges for the body to go to a local temple. Your wife will know all of that. -
OP, see this excellent US trained dermatologist https://www.bangkokpattayahospital.com/en/doctor-profile?v_id=7&depid=2

Health and Accident Insurance for Thai Partner.(female)
Sheryl replied to Jumbo1968's topic in Insurance in Thailand
She does NOT have a SS account unless she is employed and enrolled in SS. However all Thai citizens not covered by SS are covered under the universal (AKA "gold card") scheme OP's wife absolutely does have access to free health care. It will only be at government hospitals, and she will need to use the hospital for the area where she is listed in a tabian ban. Any difficulty with that or with registering, contact the NHSO https://eng.nhso.go.th/view/1/Contact_NHSO/EN-US The only reason to get private insurance for a Thai national, would be to have the option of using private hospitals. -
As above. It is a class "S:" drug so not sold over the counter.

It looks like it. The location near fingers and toes is especially typical of scabies.
-
I agree that it looks much like scabies. Can treat with Scabicide GPO, available at any pharmacy If that does nto work, see a dermatologist

Treatment depends on cause. Which may be: pinworm: treatment is single 400 mg dose of albendazole, repeat again after 2 weeks. Readily available over the counter here. Also carefully wash all bedding and nightclothes in very hot water after taking the medication, and if you are married/partner, treat them as well even if asympstomatic. yeast infection (fungus): treatment is antifungal cream such as clotrimazole. AVOID ones that are combined with a steroid. contact dermatitis: treatment is aimed at the cause i.e. avoid whatvere is causin gthe irritation hemorrhoid: treat the hemorrhoid as indicated

As others have said, your wife needs a psychologist (or social worker/counsellor) not a psychiatrist. There are only a small number of Thai psychologists and none that offer treatment via zoom etc that I know of. Her best option is to try with an Australian counsellor. Her English language skills will be a constraint but hopefully not an insurmountable barrier.

Same doctors listed in my post of Oct 26

No, you cannot do this. Hospital pharmacies (private and government) serve only patients at their specific hospital i.e. dispense medications ordered by a doctor at that hospital. They do nto fill outside prescriptions. You will have to see a rehuamtologist at the government hospital to get the medication there.
