  1. Sitting in my local curry house in Bangkok, I was pondering over the possibility of growing basmati rice here in Thailand. Does anyone know if it's done? Or what restrictions there might be in importing and growing the seed imported from India?
  2. What you have stated is the guideline. However the bottom line is whether customs believe the shipper is telling the truth Did they quote the correct value, or undervalue it to get it through customs? Did they use the correct description and harmonisation tariff.?
  3. See attached. I recently experienced the new electric boats. Okay, they're more like buses than the old fashioned boats. But I must admit I enjoyed the air conditioning. 20220629_084012.heic 20220629_083319.heic 20220629_083313.heic
  4. Why would you want a dash cam on if the ignition is off? I bought a couple at Lazada and they are okay. But you need to fit them yourself or get someone to fit them which costs extra money. I went to my local Honda dealer for a service last week, and they were selling two different versions for around 2,300 baht each. It looks fine. And of course they fitted it for free It's one of these small digital mirrors that hangs underneath the main mirror with the camera pointing forwards, and wired through the car to a camera stuck on the back. I previously bought a cigarette lighter extension lead so that I have three cigarette ports which I put in the glove compartment. So I still have power from that despite plugging the mirror into one of them. For your information I previously bought one of these wide 10-inch mirrors to strap over my existing mirror. I liked it for a time, but the shiny reflective surface of the display can be difficult to read when you glance up from driving the car. So after using it for over a year I have gone back to using my proper mirror and having this small mirror hanging below it. Using the proper mirror of course it also means you can talk to your friends sitting on the back seat which you can't see if you're using a full camera!
  5. I'm 63, and looking forward to my midlife crisis
  6. Must be wrong. How can you get 2 bedrooms in 32 sq meters???!!!!!
  7. As someone who hasn't yet reached pension age, but also someone who is registered as an expat, can someone tell me how the British government knows we are actually in thailand, and not for instance in the philippines? If they are paying our pension into a British bank account, how often would they be sending anything by mail? An off the wall question; could you live in thailand, and give a mailing address in the philippines?
  8. Yes. You have to be careful. I had a similar thing in buriram. I told them I wanted 1,000 baht petrol, they finished, and took the 1,000 baht. I drove about 4 meters forward, and stopped, noticing that the meter had not raised much. The guy didn't have time to move on to the next customer before I went back and checked. Sure enough the petrol pump showed 500 baht. He was ready for me. He had 500 baht in his hand to give me a change. He told me he thought I had said 500 baht!
  9. Separation isnt revognized in Thailand It's just 'married or not married'. Any agreements on divorce are easiest done by going hand in hand to the local amphur, and divorce Other documentation only usually comes into play if the divorce is contested or there are children involved.
  10. Marriage should be taken seriously.;You don't just do it for a bit of pussy!
  11. Unusual for a Thai to want to change the oil. Makes me wonder if the actual story was that there was no oil, and she was driving the car to get some. Hence the engine burned up..... ????
  12. Difficult to define a decent massage area. It comes down to the individual that is giving the massage. Personally I prefer the basement floor of Fortune town in Ratchada.
  13. It's a great view. If you like views. Down by the river there it's nice. There is not a glass view as previously stated. There's a wide open space outside for taking in the view. The glass floor area you can take or leave, it's novel, depending if you're into doing high level walks over glass or not. Yes it's a tourist thing. But you can't beat the view up there. If you shop around you might find a few tourist outlets for tickets that are cheaper? I haven't looked so I don't know. Pick a clear day.
  14. I'd speak to Issan lawyers in korat.
  15. Well there's still three main Banks they list where you can carry on sending as much money as you like. Just open another bank account.
  16. 3 Rai.... Actually that sounds cheap to me, even by Issan standards. Location location. It would certainly be a lot more if it was near a road, and in a residential area you could be paying more than that for just half a rai
  17. How about a fourth option?; I don't know enough to make an informed vote
  18. There are quite a few places. Mainly camera shops in Fortune, Ratchada.
  19. Well if you can't prove it you better pay again or you could be arrested at the airport. Your fault entirely for not keeping records. Unless it is a huge amount I suggest it's not worth the argument.
  20. You have a book in the car where you write your inter provincial routes. If the police stop you they will ask to see it. If it's not up to date (with your current route written in the book) you will be fined. Always a pain these days cos you need to find the local police station to hand over the money.
  21. Does anyone know if the Krungsri bank is open in CW these days?
  22. You could walk into Bumrungrad and book yourself a dose of moderna for April or May. Or perhaps even book it online.
  23. 'Thailand lost about $50 billion in tourism revenue last year, an 82% plunge.' They didn't lose this money. Because they never had it in the first place.
  24. The ones I've seen don't stop airflow (Virus flow). They're not sealed around the edges, in fact have a two inch gap most of the way round. How do these help??
