  1. I'm just imagining the furore back home if they did something like this. Blackface, cultural appropriation, the woke brigade would be having kittens! I think I saw the chap on some Robertsons Jam long ago ...
  2. By the way kosher salt is not necessarily kosher, it actually gets its name from its use the process of koshering (or kashering) which is the process of removing all blood from the meat to make it kosher.
  3. https://www.mortonsalt.com/article/salt-conversion-chart/ The stuff we get to put in the swimming pool is actually pretty close, pure sodium chloride, coarse grained.
  4. 10% over-voltage will likely be fine, but I'd try to find a pukka 100V transformer. IIRC the Japanese department store in Bangkok used to sell them (is it still even there??). BUT If it specifies 100V 60Hz rather than 50/60Hz I'd be wary of running it on 110V 50Hz.
  5. John visited his 90-year-old grandpa who lived way out in the country. On the first morning of the visit, John’s grandpa prepared a breakfast of bacon and eggs. John noticed a film-like substance on his plate, and asked, “Are these plates clean?” His grandpa replied, “They’re as clean as cold water can get them. Just go ahead and finish your meal.” For lunch, Grandpa made hamburgers. Again, John was concerned about the plates, as his appeared to have specks of dried egg on it. “Are you sure these plates are clean?” he asked. Without looking up, Grandpa said, “I told you before, those dishes are as clean as cold water can get them!” Later, as John was leaving, his grandpa’s new dog started to growl and wouldn’t let him pass. John said, “Grandpa, your dog won’t let me get by!” Grandpa yelled to the dog, “Cold Water, go lie down!”
  6. Three expectant fathers – one English, one Welsh, one Pakistani – are tensely waiting outside a hospital delivery room. The doctor comes out and says, “I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that all your wives have been delivered of healthy baby boys. The bad news is we’ve somehow managed to muddle them up, so we don’t know whose baby is whose.” “I have an idea,” says the Englishman. “What if we go in one by one to see if we can spot any physical characteristics that will help us determine which baby is which?” “Well, if it avoids a lawsuit…” says the doctor. So, the Englishman goes in and comes out 10 seconds later with what is obviously the Pakistani baby. “This one’s mine,” he says. “Excuse me,” says the Pakistani father, “I couldn’t help noticing that the baby you have chosen appears to share some physical characteristics with me.” “I know,” says the Englishman, “but one of those b'stards in there is Welsh, and I’m taking no chances.”
  7. Check the manual of your inverter, many are actually grid-sync and will top up solar with the grid whilst still using what solar is available. Others will simply go into bypass mode. Of course, both these modes have a limit.
  8. @bluejets did you mean single-width?? Single-width 2-pole (rather than solid neutral) RCBOs are certainly available, we use them in the BTS distribution boards, but they are not particularly common or cheap.
  9. Since I do not wish to be "targeted" I hope one can opt out of this system.
  10. Years ago, when we first came to Thailand, there was a similar report in one of the print newspapers. Front page photo of the smallest, cutest, little female customs officer holding (very gingerly IIRC) the biggest inflatable dong I'd ever seen!
  11. The bloke standing partly hidden by the chap in the dark shirt bottom right looks like my boss
  12. Nice result ???? The options for "do it differently" have improved over the last few years. There are a fair number of on/off grid hybrids now that will happily run as grid-tie with no ESS and export excess energy. When the no-reverse meter comes along add an ESS and re-configure the inverter to not export ???? EDIT For interest our 10.6kWP hybrid system with 12kWh ESS will pay for itself after about 5.25 years, 1.7 years to go ???? If we get there without getting an electronic meter I'll be happy, if we do get an electronic meter I'll have to add more storage which would push payback out to around 7.5 years total ????
  13. So, the transfer to your wife was done at the land office and the necessary fees and taxes paid? As to the house, as others have noted it's generally considered that the person named on the building permit is the owner of the house. The problem is always going to be that the house sits on the land so they're never going to be easily separated and you can bet that family will already have taken "measures" particularly if they think you're on your last legs. Also as noted, when you're dead you aren't going to care, but if your wife dies first you could be in a world of hurt ????
  14. They do something similar each year, either portable or more permanent, it certainly keeps more water in the channel but just how much effect it really has downstream is debatable.
  15. Very difficult to predict really, it depends upon the weather (obviously) but also upon how the authorities decide to manage the levels in the dams. This time last year Pak Kret was just below the red sign on the level indicator and we had water in the house. We don't want that again this year!!
