Health Thailand Battles Covid Surge with 12,000 Cases in a Single Day
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No thanks. Up to you, but please don’t push that carry-on on others. If the elderly are sick and worried, then they might want to do the mask thing. As dinsdale says, it is what it is and is trivial in the great scheme of things. It is sensationalist. In other news, somebody trod on someone’s cat. Folks should probably focus on other normal things.- 174 replies

North Korea Relaunches Destroyer After Embarrassing Setback
daveAustin replied to Social Media's topic in World News
lol what a donkey. Wouldn’t mind ‘sailing’ his daughter though. Wonder if that would infuriate him, too. -
Wouldn’t go comparing Hitler to any of the people representing America of late. Ok, he turned out to be a nut and I don’t advocate natzism, but he was super smart and very well read. Last US president anywhere near him was probably Carter then JFK before him, the latter being particularly brilliant. But from the 1980s-90s onwards… hmm. Trump is the icing on the cake. Compared to the above; well, one can’t really do that. Put it this way, he is akin to one of them belligerent ten-a-penny fat mouthy kids in the playground that everybody had to endure.

Trump lovers won’t have it, but it is proper cringe when he speaks today. If you go back to some 80s footage, he used to do quite well and had a half decent vocabulary, sans all that ‘America is the best’ nonsense. Aside from his diabolical, limited wordiness today, we also have social media, so whatever he is thinking is immediately put out there. Most recent, the warnings to Iran and Russia. So cringe. I mean, did his great grandson get hold of his phone, or what!

Israel’s Strikes Leave Iran Reeling Amid Escalating Conflict
daveAustin replied to Social Media's topic in World News
^^ I'm none of the above. No love for Israel and certainly not for the Iranian regime, but this is the perfect opportunity to get in there and sort this once and for all. Deactivate all nuke sites and do their level best to help the people eviscerate that awful regime. It is roundly hated by Iran's neighbours and its own people alike. Terrorist organisations aside, the only playas that are upset are the likes of China and Russia, but we all know their agenda and 'morals'. F them! Iran will let the odd barrage of missiles fly indiscriminately, but small price to pay, because if Israel lets them off, they will rebuild and go all-in for that nuke. -

I hope that if, god forbid, I ever get sent down, I’ll tell them I’m sick and get similar clemency. Dude needs proper locking up.- 41 replies

Motorcycle tyres - any advice please (bad roads)
daveAustin replied to Martinpeter's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Gawd. There’s always one. Even with a car and a bike, I’d take the bike out 90% of the time. Op, ignore the boring old farts. What’s the tyre pressures like? They tend to over-inflate here. Should be around 30psi. -

Nothing much to do in regular Thailand
daveAustin replied to Harrisfan's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
👍 Totty aside, if folks are bored here, they've got bigger problems. -
Not necessarily. Israel usually does what it wants, such as developing its nuclear program in secret. No lover, but don't blame them for taking out those sites (the Iranians want them off the map)... it was on the cards as soon as the IAEA report came out.

It’s obvious why others are, but the question was genuine in ascertaining if actual Americans were waving another’s flag. Surprised you of all people would get twisted out of shape, normally have a balanced viewpoint. Perhaps the irrationality of a left-leaning bent that people note here? And please don’t lump me in with the maga, Trump-loving crowd, albeit at least they’re doing something about the illegals. My own gov should take note.

BREAKING NEWS London-Bound Air India Flight Crashes Near Ahmedabad
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in World News
Horrendous. Sole survivor by the sounds: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c8d1r3m8z92t -
Joy. The finest of groups to encourage. Thailand’s penchant for cracking down on dastardly foreigner activities and persistently messing with the visa system, plus shouting about taxation (yes I know that’s for longer termers) and the introduction of the hassle-factor online TM47 etc might be having an impact. Flights are also pricier and then you have better alternatives in the region.

Don’t like it as it is overused by the deranged and stalkers. Should probably bring back who is posting them (and possibly take emoji posting rights away from downvote ‘abusers’ 😋), but then you get tit for tat pissing contests because they downvoted me etc etc. Still a believer in just having the + / - and dump the rest. But of course it’s not in the forum owners’ interests since some poor souls serial post for their likes, which in turn generates more content.

Are actual Americans waving the Mexican flag then? Brits also did that with the EU flag during the Brexit thing. Bizarre. If it’s just Mexicans, do they think California is still a part of Mexico, or are they unhappy and missing home? Kinda get the symbolism thing, but reckon folks in another’s country should not be antagonising the locals by angrily displaying their nation’s flag, much less burning the host country’s. If Americans are doing the above, maybe they should emigrate…
