  1. The meaning is to suffer then to not suffer… typically by not suffering (some suffer because they try to not suffer). 🙂 A divine game, one in which mere mortals are not privy to.
  2. Hmm, don’t know about that. There are a lot of upset folk regards T being allowed back, but Thais are still largely apathetic if it did happen. There would be anger and protests for sure, but beyond that don’t reckon you’d see millions on the streets.
  3. Wouldn’t make much difference to the customer at this point since it is everywhere and people have plants galore etc. Dispensaries would lose out as it would drive it underground.
  4. Typical EU; start dealing with them and they take the piss. This should only be pro-rata on numbers. There is no space for that kind of influx.
  5. Time to move on dude. All ancient history. Or perhaps everybody should move back to their respective home countries. In the long run, wonder how that would work out for third world places with no input from more advanced peoples… Of the bbc, they do tend to bias on things of this nature. It’s got to be spot on though, with sources ‘n such properly verified or it’s just hearsay and discredits itself. But, yes, they are no longer down the middle. Still churn out cracking docos and period drama.
  6. French Report Warns of Islamist Infiltration Threatening National Unity He’s just talking about this now? 🤔
  7. She’s being scapegoated here. There are darker forces in Thailand than the Shins and Yingluck is a delicate little flower compared to her numpty brother. Cut her some slack, ay. 🙂
  8. Can’t stand Starmer, but why would Trump try to embarrass the country that always has its back? Between western allies at least, the whole tariff on perceived trade deficit thing is a joke. Even for Trump lovers, his denigrating of statesmen in a televised setting must surely be cringe? Super embarrassing for normal Americans for sure. Even if he is right, that’s not the way to go about it. Total buffoon.
  9. Not an anti-vaxxer or dopey conspiracist, and you can dress it up how you want, but the way it was (understandably) rushed through can’t be all good. Any med/jab comes with side effects or they wouldn’t be of use. I had joint issues after every injection, enough so that I even went to hospital, and only put it together after the last one. Fit, young and healthy, never had that issue before and it has not returned. If it were something else, it’d have to be a pretty huge coincidence. While you’ve posted useful info on this topic, you’ve pretty much spammed this forum at the same time. I don’t care much who you are or what your qualifications may be in this field and you can post all the papers and articles you can find in favour of the vaccine, it counts for squat when your belief system goes directly against what I and others have experienced. No one can possibly know the potential downsides to this thing at this point. But by all means, keep getting jabbed, I wouldn’t presume to dissuade you and anyone else with that choice—it is clearly saving lives—just do not tell me it’s completely safe or coerce others into doing so.
  10. Cabinet Approves Measures to Shield Youths the tobacco industry from E-Cigarettes There, fixed it.
  11. Nothing wrong with being wary of a vaccine that was rushed through the system without usual extensive testing. Personally will never take it again as side effects were harmful and went on for months. Folks can do what they want as long as they don’t push it on others.
  12. Gawd. Fresh off the boat? Massage shop in Pattaya, Phuket, Samui, CM, Bkk, Hua Hin, Kanchanaburi, Hat Yai? or myriad other places. There is the slightest possibility she is hanging on for him, but every possibility he is not the only one. How long have you been here exactly?
  13. Thailand doesn’t seem to be far anything. But if it is right, I’ll take that over my hopelessly-leftist-wokish-against-the-majority country.
  14. Not at all. However, I can see that if perhaps someone is exclusively into say, jazz, rap or, gawd forbid, c&w.
  15. I will, thanks for that. I’ll do some research into it and post back. May even send you a pm so you won’t feel left out. 😉
  16. Same. Often have a few open across subjects. Usually make notes and copy quotes etc for later recaps / come back after extended periods. Been on Brian Greene’s Elegant Universe for years. For ebook sources, someone mentioned PGutenberg. Anna’s Archive is also handy. Then there’s Amazon for Kindle, iBooks for iOS etc, where many classics are now in the public domain and free.
  17. 😋 As I say, each to their own. Do what you wanna do dude. I just don’t buy the ‘life is for experiencing’ line or I haven’t the time etc. If people are genuinely very busy with work, art, music, travel etc etc… but even then, find a great book trumps mos things. Also understand it’s easy to fall out of it, not be in the mood and not read for extended periods. Perhaps choose your favourite topic, download a well reviewed book on it and dive in; a chapter a day or whatever. You might surprise yourself.
  18. People not showering before getting into pools is the bane of the pool engineer/commercial pool owners. Selfish, lazy so 'n sos. They have no idea how much it taxes the filtration and then costs etc on chemicals, such that if they ever owned a pool and properly maintained it, they wouldn't think twice about pre-showering. Sweaty bodies, women with oodles of make-up and perfume, and idiots wearing street clothing can eventually overburden a normal system leading to bacteria build up and sick people. Rarely get into a pool here anymore (certainly not somewhere like Pattaya) unless can see it's a proper setup and it's not loaded with stinkies. 🙂
  19. If 'she' was a nice person, you could have still met up and had a laugh without any funny business.
  20. No experience with them but posit it would be much like the majority of relationships with women here (both for Thai and farang men) in that it is first and foremost a business deal, whether you're paying for it or not. I do, however, hear that the former do a 'proper' BJ.
  21. The oncoming vehicle into your lane is annoying, but reckon the most infuriating move is being overtaken only for the driver or rider to then slow and turn off, cutting you off in the process. It is probably the dumbest move here (not being able to preempt their move and slow down instead of the passing the vehicle), but also happens ALL the time. That said, still prefer to drive here than in the over-regulated boring West. Hopefully that will assuage the ‘if you don’t like it go home’ numpties.
  22. You first! I’m sure you’ll say the same after you’ve been hedged by a numpty. Back to sleep.
  23. Haven’t done it yet but realise he’s a brilliant author. Another JFK must is Mary’s Mosaic. Very eye opening and meticulously researched.
  24. This is more an older gen thing. While I also like physical books, it’s all about the content for me so doesn’t matter. Have read dozens on my phone even. I can read when and wherever I want.
