About time the Germans started putting more into their military again. France should also be spending more. Not too hard and gung-ho though; can’t have any of this reich business.

Tourism Tourism Shock: Thailand's Visitor Numbers See Alarming Plunge
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
No no no no! Forget the reaming of extra value tourists; upgrade your existing attractions, facilities and infrastructure. Flights are also getting silly and perhaps look at the currency. Essentially people are getting less and less year on year, while prices continue to burgeon. Alright inflation (and the security thing has put people off), but it is over and above that... food and drink in a half decent restaurant/bar in any of the tourist hangouts is a rip and totally out of whack with standard fare outside these areas. Enough of the 200 baht fried rice and more expensive beer than Europe bs. -
I agree, but don’t blame the UK, blame one bloke… Starmer is not the UK. He put the palace in a tricky position too.

When was the last time that you spoke with a foreigner?
daveAustin replied to simon43's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Today. My son. 😋 While I get the apprehension of bumping into foreigners here—let’s face it, Thailand really attracts some weirdos and many have a story—generally those I’ve met have been cool bar one or two utter pricks. Live in a non-touristy place, albeit which has many generally working farangs. Pattaya would likely be different, though not to denigrate the sound folk on here. 🙂 Have many Thai friends and prefer to be around the locals in general than my home town people even. Kinda get folk that do avoid farang, maybe they had a bad experience, but also smacks of being a hermit. Perhaps merge that other dodgy thread with this un. -
Report Thai submarine plans sink as Germany halts engine sale
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Totally get the sentiment—the military and war is waste etc—but d’you really think all those good deeds would be an option? As with India where a huge swathe of its populace really struggles and Britain continues to pile in the cash, yet it has nukes and a space programs. Wtf?! It’s the broke monetary system vs human nature for greed, power, face etc. We’re centuries away from awareness, doing the right thing by the people and foregoing conflict and weapons. -
Report Thailand Expands Alcohol Sale Venues Amid New Law Changes
daveAustin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I get that, but the very people it is supposedly honouring are the ones that routinely flout the rules… the locals. Make Thailand free again and let people do what they want, with obvious respect to temples, dates & such. Also take some off the exorbitant duty off of alcohol, which makes it very expensive for the region vis-a-vis local wages.- 39 replies

Health Six Dead as Covid Cases Surge in Thailand
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sensationalist tat. Cannot believe they’re still pushing this. It’s a cold and people die unfortunately; that’s what we do. -
Congrats. Wish I never did. Nasty arthritic symptoms not long after the shots—the main brands—which I only figured out later. Was never a thing before and has totally abated. I will not be cajoled into taking that garbage again and will rely on my immune system. Each to their own but the system should not put pressure on those who don’t conform.

Tourism Thailand's Tourism Sector Struggles: Chinese Market Plummets
daveAustin replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
0.2%? Stop the press! Any dip is good news. A 50% drop would be better, for the environment and general standard of living of the normal folk. Who really benefits from the hordes anyway bar the obvious? Yes, a 50% drop to thin all the big groups out. Maybe when that bogus small-willy-syndrome war ends, that one special group will FO back home for good. 🙂 -
Bring back hanging and make this bottom-feeder a martyr already. Where is the justice when this pos is still allowed to be breathing? Obviously he is not in gen pop or he’d be toast. Guards should accidentally open the wrong gate.

Substitute uk for anything and it works, such as seppo.

If cistern up to level as normal, check there’s not a leak on one of the fixings, where it could draw in air and not flush through as timely as normal.

Coz we stuck our nose into their cultures and the chickens have come 'home' to roost. I don't get it though; if it's really that important to them and they wanted to make a difference, why not get over there and sort it out. Leave the poor ole peaceful Londoners be. 🙂
