Thailand to Become International Hub of Electric Vehicles Here we go. There’s that word again. And I hope they do, albeit a fair way to catch China which has something like a million charge points.- 82 replies

Don’t sweat it, that’s what like 99% of early adopters did, while numerous others misplaced passwords & keys to their 50btc mined packets (2 million coins permanently lost isn’t it?). Had one hand on the btc client back in 09 (my spare laptop could’ve happily mined), but didn’t bother as was busy doing other tat. Millions of stories like that. Main thing is least you’re in profit. ????

Study shows about 15 percent of Thai students are prone to suicide
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Easy to mock when brought up in the West and Thai males can be especially fragile, but reckon the pressures are higher here. When you bring face and subservience to authority and elders into the mix, it makes those that are susceptible all the more likely to struggle. -
Wasn’t it Trudeau that came out with PEOPLEkind so as to not upset the Doris’s in the audience? Strewth! Though not woke, cannot stand the way TV people in the UK overuse, or just use, the word massively. Major cringe and reason enough to emigrate!

Successful online business for sale

I agree. Poor guy was only asking the question. At times you’re better off asking the cat than this crowd. -
Go and do one grandad, and while you’re at it perhaps spend some of your billions to prop up the ‘struggling’ hotel industry… leave the little man out of it! Yeah, thought so. Donkey!

COVID-19 infections on the rise among people not fully vaccinated
daveAustin replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I certainly won’t be having anymore jabs. Arthritic fingers & thumbs on occasion post-vaccine... I am not old, though of course it can come post-40. May just be a coincidence and doctors say there’s no connection (they would wouldn’t they), but I’d sooner suffer that cold and will let my immune system do its job in future. -

Eh? Must’ve missed that. From what I read most of them seemed more interested to see what was between their legs. -
Cambodia is better than Thailand. Change my mind..?
daveAustin replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Siem Reap is (was) great fun at night, esp pub street. Them multi-storey bar complexes are buzzing, super loud. Also some good eating and cocktail bars. The beer might be cheap but found that 50c/$1 Anchor to be like dishwater after a while. Generally though, Cambodia is pretty threadbare… didn’t enjoy PP ($5 lady drinks) and found it a lot more pushy and can be just as expensive as Thailand, plus you have to keep your wits about you. Pickpocketed first night. Caught them at it and perhaps just unlucky, but not a good first impression after literally hundreds and hundreds of nights out in Thailand without issue. Hasn’t put me off going again, however, and generally found the people very nice. But echoing above, reckon it’s more a weekend place. The lack of services (and 7-11) and obvious poverty will probably grind on you eventually. As for cheap beer, perhaps look to Vietnam… more Thailand’s equal. And yes, it is now relatively very expensive for a beer / nights out. -
I agree but it’s not through laziness. For misguided Buddhist reasons the new ‘government’ enacted protections for soi dogs, such that the taking-of-them-out would lead to hefty prosecution. Although they got people in line fairly quickly, they seemed to go the other way regards stray dogs. After having spent time out of the country, I was surprised at the exponential growth in the general soi dog populace on returning. Really speaks third world, when of course it’s not. Hoping the next real government pulls their finger out and does the right thing.

If that is true, so what? It’s not killing people, is it? The vast majority would come down eventually and just need to lie down. There should be controls on extracts and edibles for sure—you don’t know what you’re getting—but greasy politicians aiming for bans for their own ends should get off their high horse and do something useful, such as tackling alcoholism and traffic control.

How do compare Bangkok with Pattaya and with Chiang Mai?
daveAustin replied to Goodboybkk's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Well that goes without saying. ???? Bangkok: if you enjoy big cities and lots of people, it’s great. Good fun/entertainment, transport options. Surprisingly quaint still in some places like the old town. Superb hotels and eating. Chiang Mai: cultured northern hub, Thailand’s second city. Great if you like the mountains and cycling, best climate in Thailand from now to Feb, good shopping and eating (health food options and nice cafes), beautiful northern women. Smoky, hot season March-June is horrible and the nightlife has been trounced by the police. Airport right by town with good connections. Pattaya: sleazy weekend place that has had its day near a tatty beach. Still, there is nice scenery and beaches nearby. Good golf. Closest airport has poor connections. All have good hotels and worth a visit, but spend a good amount of time in each before considering living there. -
Lol. Whatever they come up with, it will be unrealistic and not favour the foreigner. I can see their point regards preventing rich Chinese business folk, or whatever, buying the place up in certain areas, but for, say, genuine retirees who just want to be secure in their home, whatever is proposed will likely suck giant monkey balls.

Indeed. I don’t tend to get embroiled much in ‘conversations’ nowadays; no time or inclination, not to mention the inevitable suspension. Just say my bit and scarper. ????

Yep, everything bar bananas is rubbish and bad for you over time, but who cares, it usually tastes good and is convenient and cheap. We all gonna die anyway!
