Come back when you understand the difference between the European Parliament and the the European Commission.
Another remainer that knows nothing about about the EU, despite that being a charge that is often leveled at Leavers.
Another epic fail by the highly educated remainers.
Why be so offensive and degrading?
Sorry based on your question and your comparison with the uk election system, I had suspected that you do not know the difference. Apparently, you voted for pm May directly?

That's fantastic. At least we get the opportunity to vote them out every 5 years.
Can you tell me when we get to vote out the same incompetents, intrasingent's and idiots that make up the European Commission ?
You know, the lot that are the real power in the EU and have nothing more in mind than gathering even more power for themselves.
For your information.
The next EU election is 2019, butyou are probably not allowed to participate then.
The 2019 European elections will be the ninth direct election to the European Parliament. It is expected to take place from 23 to 26 May 2019 in the then 27 Member States of the European Union. [1] According to Art. 14 (2) of the EU Treaty, up to 750 members plus the Speaker of Parliament, ie a maximum of 751 members, are elected. [2] It is expected to be the first election to the European Parliament after the United Kingdom's exit from the EU. [3]

The Bully desperately needs a pair of PR plus points after all the bad news. The meeting with Kim and freedom for some cocaine dealers are quite suitable.

There is nothing wrong with talking about old contracts and making new ones better.
But Trump is shameless as a prostitute who drops her knickers to the ankles.
Respect, suppleness, good
education, behaving are foreign words for this bully.
The representatives of other countries are not like the subcontractors on his construction sites which he can fire in a short time and may not pay.
The importance of the US under Trump in the world will be smaller.
He is just calling out that many countries are joining together against the USA. -

absolutely overpriced stuff of questionable origin and quality.

Punitive Duties against the EU, Sanctions against Iran and Russia:
Since the bully Trump resided in the white house, the usa is no longer internationally reliable. That could lead to Europe looking for Moscow's proximity. Increasing cooperation at the economic level supports this assumption.
-
Trump is bothered by the fact that Americans buy more European products than vice versa. Whether it bothers him just as much that the US exports twice as much to Australia as it imports? Probably not.

The question is how the EU and its member states will respond. We have a huge ace up our sleeve: it is known that there are just four major economic powers in the US, who make huge profits in Europe, but in fact do not pay a full percent of their taxes: Google, Amazon, Facebook and Apple.
Of course, a trade war is not pleasant. Of course it would have consequences to continue to turn the escalation screw. But: The largest economy in the world is the internal market of the EU. Not the United States.

i understand it is difficult right now with trump. i like many of his ideas but he hasn't carried them out in the best fashion starting from his inaugral address. germany is not anywhere close to the status of canada, the UK, and france in terms of an ally (i'd add australia in there also). i've heard this before (germany is a great ally of USA) and didn't like it much. so this part of the article stood out to me. just because it is the G7 doesn't make everyone there the 'closest allies' of the USA. if you are from the UK and would like to reduce your 'ally' status for awhile, i understand. you are welcome back any time.
Doesn't matter if you call them allies, closet allies or not allies today. Trump has pissed on almost every shoe. He is a bully who represents the ugly face of a big-mouthed American.

All American software is a threat to the national security of every country. The affected states, mexico, canada and eu should set the customs lever together.
Even tougher penalties should be introduced with regard to product liability. Faulty software and computer crashes cost billions.
Also the whole US junk food costs taxpayers worldwide huge sums of hospital money. Punitive tariffs, who brings this sh...t into a country.
In the short term, the EU is now considering levying tariffs on American jeans, whiskey, motorcycles and peanut butter.
The EU will probably have to look more closely at cooperation with Russia in the future.

Of course they can compete, if they're good enough. The Germans, Dutch and Swedes do just fine anyway. Others could do too if they put their minds and backs into it. Quality is at least as important as three dollar quantity. Read my post again regarding employment, dear!
Snip
(even reciprocal European employment/residence)?
But that's just rejected by the brexiteers.

You are confused. Brexit is not about rectifying any woes in the UK; it is about the EU. The referendum result is the long-awaited opportunity for the British to tell the EU that it is not as wonderful and necessary as it thinks it is. Common trade and travel (even reciprocal European employment/residence) agreements could be easily agreed between willing countries, without having to have these "four pillars" looming over an EU, which is shrinking within its own protectionist market.
Oh dear.
Without the protectionist market?
Do you really think that European companies could compete with countries worldwide, where workers earn $ 3 a day in production?
I think Brexit does not want to have "cheap" Polish and Romanian craftsmen?
What is this?
UK - market Protection?
Then one could cynically say that the uK economy is not competitive even within the eu.
Have fun then with you future trade deals.

Do not ask so difficult questions.
Every brexiteer knows that the Uk is out in 10 months and that afterwards the paradise awaits them.
This is a little bit similar to the case of Jehovah's Witnesses.

My friend like to drive around the UK with his truck and buy the best Scottish Whiskey.
Then he drive down to Spain and sell the stuff at parties.
On the way back he buy the best Spanish and French wines and then sell them in the UK.
And then I'm not surprised he finds Brexit is shiiiiiiiiiit. -

sI’m sure there are some,if not many politicians who do have experience of international trade, unfortunately when you have remainer Teresa May in charge, this results in Brexiteers fighting on two fronts.
I do not want to exclude that there are a few politicians who bring the expertise in detail.
But the way politicians work are PR, lobbying, and beautiful speeches which they pobably have not even writen by themselfs. There is not much time left to study details in depth.

It is obvious that Brexit has so many details and facets which the propaganda politicians never considered in advance.
All of these screaming politicians have virtually no knowledge of detailed trade flows, international trade and customs law and from the 100,000 EU project contracts in detail.
It was clear from the outset that brexit could not be solved comprehensively in 2 years.
If everybody knews that trade agreements usually take 7-10 years (see Canada or Japan).
And with brexit, the aggravation and dissolution negotiations are added to make matters worse and time consuming.
That is and was known to the howler monkeys in advance.
Here, the entire population was simply lied to.
What we are experiencing here is the political spectacle of impossibility given from the outset, if the Brexit is to be completed with the least possible damage for both sides.

A European Economic Community might have worked...... a a bit like ASEAN.
It all started that way.
Then over 40 years the eu project has developed. And the UK was involved all the time as one of the biggest net payers. For the uk there were made many times special solutions. I think it's a pity that the uk now, after 40 years suddenly say everything is shit. This is probably where the EU parlament members from the UK have failed. With its veto power, the uk could have changed the eu.
and there could have been majorities for many topics. In 40 years, the EU has evolved from a pure trade association.
For example the binding jurisdiction. how else could the eu enforce the following measures in each country uniform:if a federation of 28 countries decides that e.g.
- plastic bags may be dispensed in supermarkets for free to reduce the microplastic in the sea.
- Only energy-saving lamps can be used to reduce co2 emissions.
- prescribes the mesh size in fishing nets so that the juvenile fish can survive.
- requires phone companies to limit a maximum for roaming charges to protect consumers from rip-off.
- to regulate the maximum working hours to protect workers from exploitation.
- Conduct basic research together and share the research results.
I could list 1000 more examples.
But at the core this is more efficient than, each individual state implements such measures for itself depending on there mood or even not.
