  1. If I remember correctly there have been 2 box jellyfish fatalities in the last couple of years, a German woman in Koh Samui area and a young French boy in Phi Phi?. One of my Australian friends thinks he saw box jellyfish off the west side of Ban Phe, Rayong when we were still getting the rain. I've seen no jellyfish for weeks since the rain stopped.

  2. 'The White House has released a list of 78 attacks which it described as “executed or inspired by” Islamic State to support a claim by President Donald Trump that the media is under-reporting terrorist atrocities.

But Rosie Ayliffe, the mother of Mia Ayliffe-Chung who was stabbed to death in a hostel in Australia, has criticised the inclusion of the 20-year-old’s killing by Smail Ayad as a “terror attack”.'

What's funny is the comments section is full of idiots slagging her off for being a liberal left winger and still calling it a terrorist attack instead of a mental health issue.

YOU have just clarified my diesel point..........Diesels are far more harmful than a ciggy....So much so legislation in some countries are trying to combat the harm...

In LOS nothing.......YOU drive a diesel here then YOU are worse than a ciggy smoker.....YOU got it yet............?

I have to agree with you, it looks like Europe is going to start banning diesels in city centres due to their exhaust emissions. They used say it was cleaner due to an excess of air in the combustion making a diesels carbon monoxide much lower but they missed out on the particulates which are now being quoted as carcinogenic.

Nah, it's a phenomenon that confuses a lot of people. Think diverted neutral current.

The neutral is grounded at the transformer. By the time it gets to you it can be several volts above ground (Mr Ohm has a lot to answer for).

Now add a second ground (the N-E fault) on the cold side of the RCD.

A current roughly proportional to the neutral voltage and the ground resistance will flow through the neutral side of the sense coil.

The simple electromechanical (non electronic) RCD which most of us have will sense the differential (no current in the live) and trip.

EDIT Change the "would" to "should" in the previous post :) Although I'm confused as to what PEA actually did, possibly there was an overvoltage and our OP was switched to another phase. Sadly we're unlikely to ever find out. Great that it's all sorted.

Possibly induced current/voltage as well. Even after more than 30 yrs in industry having worked in power generation etc the problems with grounding/earthing still surprise me. I've even had a shock off a cable which was disconnected at both ends, it must have been coiled around some live cables and acted like a current transformer.

  5. I have 2 flukes not sure of the models but I would suspect that the problem you have switching on is corrosion, just have a look at what this climate does to a computer kbd. Another point here is don't leave batteries in anything you don't use, we have recently lost 2 Samsung remotes through lack of use. And my soapbox about Flukes, those <deleted> fuses for low current measurement - both my meters have a strand of copper wire now.

We have had good results with these Preventic collars. http://www.lazada.co.th/catalog/?q=prevent+tick

In addition we give En-Dex 4000 once a month now which you vet can probably supply.

We had what could only be described as a tick epidemic with three dogs. We initially gave them the en-dex once every 2 weeks for 6 weeks along with the collars, it solved the problem.

Still get them occasionally but rare. Previously they were crawling all over the place.

Sorry tried the collars but they were so poisonous had to take them off. We get the monthly injection, take them swimming in the sea, shower them with anti parasite shampoo and my wife picks the ticks out every night. It's better now there's no rain but they can also cause a problem to people as they've bitten me and in the UK they did have a problem with ticks causing Lime's disease.

You were illogical (regarding apartment and living time in Thai).

I asked "how much people think is a reasonable amount for this (per week/month)". That is a fair question, and I could personally give you a ballpark figure in other countries, so I asked what others who might be in similar home style situations (not expats living in an expensive rental and on expense accounts and eating out 7 days a week).

My only frustration is with the inability of almost all of the posters to address the simple question. You included.

You refuse to listen keep banging your head against the wall, just get a good internet connection and beat the meat it would make your life so much easier.

  8. After reading through the whole 6 pages I don't understand what Michael is asking for anymore, is he just trying to have an argument online?. Don't you have enough sense not to give any money or only little bits of money until you are sure about the relationship?. Did you have a personal servant who did everything for you before you moved to Thailand, do have any grasp of the real world?. Why can't you concentrate on the relationship instead of the money?. I'm married to a beautiful Thai wife and when she asks for money I just ask her how much because I trust her and we have had to spend a lot of money setting up a business. I think you're paying too much attention to money instead of the personal side, if the personal side doesn't work out these 6 pages are just '.moo'
