  1. There is a damaged undersea cable but it has been damaged for months, links to Singapore if I remember rightly. We have a new fibre optic receiving station built on the beach here in Taphong, Rayong so hopefully the international speeds will be better in the future.

Has anyone had trouble with online 90 day reporting, I've successfully reported but unable to get on the site to download and print the confirmation pdf?.

Scotland are and will be received with open arms by soul mates, friends and colleagues in the EU. Count me in

I think you'll find Spain will veto any application of Scotland's to join the EU over the Catalan question as it will encourage them to try for independence even though it goes against one of the EU's stated objectives to promote democracy .....

Plenty of breed have been bred over the centuries as lapdogs.  They are far happier living inside with human companionship than being outside.  Many breeds need minimal exercise and are well suited to indoor living.  List of indoor dogs with characteristics at:

There's a lot of dogs in the list that are working dogs and go nuts indoors, for example the Yorkshire terrier was bred for ratting and I've seen them bouncing off walls because they have too much energy.

I'm worried that things have been "smoking", one assumes from an over-voltage. It is possible that the Safe-T-Cut has died / gone sensitive, the only way to verify would be to replace :(

Are you sure it doesn't do "direct"?

Crossy after looking at the picture I can't see an earth wire going to the safe t cut, I thought from your electrical write up and I seem to remember from downloading the manufacturers pdf that a safe t cut needs to have an earth connection?.

  5. Rayong is full of salaengs and the police don't seem to bother people on them, Ban Phe town centre is clogged with them. We have one and I'm not keen on driving it as it's only stable in a straight line depending on road camber and wants to go off the road to the left when you open the throttle, close the throttle or use the brakes. We had a scooter converted so that we could carry around a petrol lawnmower and garden tools + waste instead of piling everything into a Ford Fiesta.  As Guderian said dogs love riding in one but you then have to put up with being chased by dogs when spotted.  I think the main reason I dislike driving one even though I had big bike experience in the UK is that my brain is hardwired into a motorbike leaning in a corner and I still find myself putting my feet down when coming to a stop.

  6. According to the Guardian the couple had left the UK in October and had said they were going to travel until their money run out, sounds like they had no plan after that unless they'd already decided to commit suicide. They also got married on xmas day.

See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Thai_Police (Section on police corruption)

As for  teachers, in 2014 I worked with a newly graduated English teacher. She worked with me at a rural school in Chiang Mai. Her starting salary was 8k/month.

I loved this section from the wiki article

    Tourist police

Tourist police are uniformed personnel who lack police powers and are largely responsible for writing out reports for insurance companies for victims of theft. In more serious cases, they will translate reports to be passed on to the regular police in Bangkok. Recently recruiting foreign nationals living in Thailand.

According to Reuters correspondent, Andrew Marshall, "The country has a special force of Tourist Police, set up specifically so that foreigners have as little contact as possible with the ordinary police—the effect on the crucial tourism industry would be chilling.

You are working 18 hour shifts with no weekends off... away from home, with no contract or redundancy... or holiday entitlement?   If that is 'the system' then something is wrong with it!!!

Poor you... .find yourself a better job maybe?

was the same as Pdaz but it paid for my life in Thailand, it burned me out though.

LPG is safer than petroleum, provided it is installed and maintained correctly.

the only reason to ban its use here is because of the high likelihood of illegal or cheap installations.

Australia turned to LPG in a big way, years ago, with government sponsored installations of conversion kits.... no problems....

if this vehicle was in a nasty accident, its more likely that spilt petrol from a ruptured tank, was to blame.... if it were LPG, I would have expected the boot to have blown off the rear end.

Maybe the safety shutoff valve failed to close for the lpg tank.

  10. There is a place just across the road from the embassy in a small mall, slightly back towards the Sukhamvit, where there is a place on the 1st floor. We were approached as we left the embassy and the guy arranged everything for us including wedding, registration of marriage with embassy plus translations for 10,000 baht 3 years ago. Only thing slightly hard was we didn't get married in an amphor, it was some kind of registration office, so when we later changed my wife's surname to mine we had to travel back to the registration office as it couldn't be changed at the local amphor.

  11. If it really was suicide why did they have to put on such a show with the blindfolds, gags and bound hands which would arouse suspicions of foul play?. It's as if they deliberately have tried to hurt family and friends more with the way they committed suicide. They must have planned this before they left the UK as they didn't seem to have enough money, weren't their family suspicious?.

The LPG is more safe than Gasoline.

If the Vans gastank explode, there will be nothing left of the Van,

as you see the Back of the Vas is not damage, it would be gone if the tank explode. It is more truly it is gasoline who burned

So logically no problem with the LPG.

RIP all people who lose there life

The minibuses I've used from Victory View to Rayong used NVG, I know this as we would stop in the same gas stations every time in Chonburi. I don't use them anymore, I get a taxi to swampy then get the train into Bangkok now.

Big C sell an android box for 2900 baht and it has the best front end ( simple interface) out of any of the android boxes I've bought. Only one problem, this happens with all the small android boxes I've bought, it runs very hot as it has no cooling fan. We've installed these in our rental bungalows as they can be configured running Kodi for most languages.
