  1. When I got mine 2 years ago at Rayong amphor it required 2 visits and it was even worse than going through a marriage visa. I needed 3 Thai witnesses not including my wife, the staff at Rayong are quite friendly and we had previously registered our marriage in the same office but we it seemed like we were there for an eternity. I have friends who got their yellow books years ago and for one of them it didn't even require a visit to the amphor at that time, it seems like Thailand is tightening up on it's procedures.

  2. if you have an android box then the app to have is mobdro, it's not in google app store so you have to download it and install it yourself. for Kodi I recommend installing Exodus add on for films and tv shows. have any of you been watching the Westworld tv series, I like it but the violence is too much sometimes and yes I know they're portraying abuse of robots but I still think it doesn't to be that graphic?.

I think it's a stretch. All of the debris found so far is consistent with a low speed, controlled, full flaps ditching in my opinion.

This is what an uncontrolled low speed ditching looks like. If it had gone in at high speed there would be lots of bits.

Why don't they go to one of the aircraft graveyards and find an old one to play with?

That wasn't uncontrolled, they had run out of fuel because the hijackers and governments in the area couldn't agree about refuelling.

They already know that the flaperon wasn't extended so flaps weren't extended by a pilot. I know from when I had a ppl that a Cessna or similar would almost recover from a stall by itself due to airspeed over the wing when the aircraft was diving due to the stall creating suction/lift. The Air France flight which crashed in the Atlantic due to the 2nd pilot stalling the aircraft fell tail first, maybe this was a nose down stall and the aircraft stalled into the sea because it had already gained airspeed then stalled?. Just an idea..

No expert and do not claim to be.

Whatever satellite data that they have would have been examined in microscopic detail right from the start of this investigation. Hard to believe that they are coming up with new interpretations of that data at this late stage.

But if satellite data is indicating a '' high and increasing rate of descent in its final moments '' would this not indicate that the plane came down very steep and fast therefore making the crash site more easily pinpointed.

The severe lack of floating debris is indeed a mystery.

They're just confirming the original data .....

  5. The danger in Thailand is that your power cables are above ground so there is a risk of a lightning strike on the cables feeding your house. We have TOT fibre to home now so it's removed the risk of a telephone line being struck although still running the same risks if the power lines are hit to take out modem and router. So many Thais are scared of having their mobile phone switched on during a thunderstorm but I presume this is a throwback to telephone lines being struck and has become part of folklore now.

  6. This is what I bought today for 1000Baht and it has an usb port so a mouse or kb can be connected although it does run quite hot and seems a bargain going buy Lazada price

and this is what I bought a while back for about 3200Baht I think.

I recommend both but as previously said they are set up in Thai

Have a look  at TOT  iptv box set up

fairly new, versastile system they say.800bt per month ,incodes fibre, with add on available

for an extra 390bt per month

Really need an opinion from an expert which I am not

    Comments please

You might as well buy a digital terrestrial tv box as it only shows Thai tv channels in Thai, channels like Mono 29 have dual language with a lot of English content and a few of them show European football on a Saturday in dual language on dtv. We had the TOT box more than 3 years ago when it was free and we gave it back when they wanted to start charging about 2 years ago, I think you can get all the channels over the internet as freeview anyway. Another option is the IPM satellite system which has a few movie channels in English and it's subscription free although you only have Royal tv same as terrestrial tv on it at the moment.

  8. bought the Leotech X2 stick android device today for a 1000 baht, already had their larger android box with hard drive interface. the best app for tv is mobdro and it only works on android, it used to work on pc's with win using an android emulator but since mobdro updated to version 2.019 it's stopped working. mobdro has all the premium movie and sports channels and literally has 100's of channels but can be changed to language specific in settings. the x2  stick is a bit of a pain to set up if you have no android experience (it's not a usb stick it plugs into the hdmi socket) and it's made easier if have you have a wireless kbd/mouse with an usb interface as the remote that comes with it is hard work. for uk tv just use filmon.tv website for free to air channels.  you can install kodi on a pc if you don't want to use an android device but personally I find the interface clunky and think it's worse than setting up an android device. if you buy a Thai made android device like the Leotech stuff it will be set up in Thai and most apps will be Thai so you'll need someone to translate to convert it to English..

    Good Luck

Unprotected soft Rockwool used outdoor will be damaged by time, probably quickly under Thai weather conditions. Furthermore uncovered Rockwool (and like stone and glass fiber products) is a health damager, dangerous like asbestos

Rockwool 'wool' doesn't break down but will just trap debris & moisture plus attract wildlife, to recycle Rockwool it's shredded then mixed with a molasses solution and formed into briquettes which are then added to the normal furnace charge. Rockwool is non carcinogenic but can be an irritant to both skin and lungs but it dissolves in the lungs and eventually it's excreted from the body. It took me 4 years to stop itching when I worked for them, the uncured wool before it's heated to 850C ( if I remember correctly) is extremely irritating. In the 90's Rockwool did change some of the recipes when the WHO & EU considered some ingredients to be possibly carcinogenic.

The suggested Rockwool (a well known product from my homeland) is great as "sound trap", but not as sound isolation, as it's not heavy enough; however "trapping" sound, or noise, will reduce the sound-level.

The Rockwool 'slab' works very well for sound isolation but it's way beyond the budget of this job, it would probably cheaper to build a house. ....

  10. I don't understand the reasoning behind expanding Thieferow unless it's for local businesses exporting goods by air, i.e. cargo planes. My choice would be to expand Birmingham airport as it's relatively rural but still with good rail and road links as the M42 goes right past it. Also for passenger travel it would have a huge catchment area  and would reduce transport problems around Heathrow. And as mentioned above Manchester would be a good choice with again a huge catchment area.

Thanks. I need to seal the top of the gap behind the cement fibre board I already have installed and the wall built by the neighbours behind it so that the sound doesn’t make its way down behind the fibre board and then out through the gaps. My builder wants to use aerosol cans of foam, but I think Rockwool might be cheaper and easier.

My question is: is the wool version of Rockwool fully weatherproof, will it stand years of exposure to the tropical rain and sun?

Rockwool is literally various rocks (mixture varies depending on application) melted in a blast furnace  then spun like candy floss which is then gathered on conveyor systems, the reality is quite a bit more technical and long winded. This means it won't be effected by weather but the wool will collect debris and water.  See their website below

Even if defeated, Trump will have been successful in obtaining a substantial number of votes, despite his obvious failings as a politician, although he has been helped to some extent by Hilarys deceptions.   This just proves that, not only in America, but world-wide, people are just sick of the status quo and will vote for anyone who offers change amd a move away from the way in which big business seem to be controlling everything , making the rich even richer and the poor and the middle classes no better off.

Remember how the establishment in Britain were taken by surprise by the Brexit vote?  Trump is right to remind Americans of that event, which could either make voters who like the same old policies to vote for Hilary OR for those crying out for change to vote for him. The danger is that voters might go for change without fully knowing what that might mean, but are prepared to take the risk, as was the case with Britons voting to leave the European Union.

This is nothing like brexit, you  have nothing equivalent to an anti democracy EU. It wasn't a racist vote in the UK it was about getting control of our country before the EU jumped off the cliff and not being able to get our country back. It's similar to the misinformation that the Donald does, he just lashes out for no reason and for me it's beyond comprehension that anyone would vote for that fraud. I agree with a lot of things Hillary says but I still wouldn't vote for her either. Is it Hobson's choice?.

I was involved with industrial acoustics for many years and have even built 100% silent rooms for Telecom research.  If you use Rockwool as the insulating and acoustic material with Plasterboard on your side and some kind of steel e.g. Colorbond ,  on the neighbours side to reflect the noise back at him it will work very efficiently.  Try making a small panel first to test the effectiveness. Another option is to build an acoustic enclosure for his noisy compressors.

I used to work for Rockwool in the UK as a shift electrician on breakdown maintenance and I'm a big fan of the product, we have it insulating our house here. The really dense slab as opposed to the 'wool'  is a brilliant acoustic insulator but I fear would be too expensive to use in this situation. It's compulsory now in the UK for supermarket ceilings as Sainsbury's had a few roof void fires and one when a store was open, it will withstand 1400C for 30 mins and if I remember correctly it was about £400 for a 3 by 2m  slab with I think 120mm thickness. They have a factory here in Map ta Phut , Rayong.

  15. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump appeared at a charity event in New Jersey and addressed a huge gathering of Americans belonging to the Hindu community on Saturday, 15 October.

"I have great confidence in India. Incredible people, incredible country. Generations of Indian and Hindu Americans have strengthened our country… your values, your hand work; education and enterprise have truly enriched our nation and we will be celebrating a Trump administration together."
