  1. Oh dear. The message is just not getting through...................... a visa is 'used' the moment you enter Thailand; thereafter you are granted permission to stay - which is extendable.
  2. That loss of face will never be forgotten.................................
  3. I suppose this thread is also a timely reminder NOT to carry your passport with you. There is absolutely NO chance of my passport finding it's way to the laundry.
  4. You will have no problem. The issue of the marriage visa in Savannaket is 'soft' with minimal requirements (plenty of posts on here on that subject). If you then apply for a 12 month extension ( in the last 30 days of your visa) you simply need to show that the funds have been on deposit for 2 months.
  5. I wouldn't be surprised to see Bangkok follow suit. Although a lot of people are heavily invested in pyrotechnics.
  6. caveat..........................."unless asked to do so". A friend with a 400K fixed deposit was asked to produce bank statements to evidence how he was living in Thailand.
  7. I can't argue that some of the rooms are bit tired. But a fair price for a great seaview - and I only use it for 'entertaining'.
  8. LOL ...no using the missus is not against the law. BUT....relying on them often backfires (Immigration and elsewhere)
  9. ????..when did Christmas Day fall on the 26th?
  10. I am not sure if you are trolling.....but Immigration status and activities are YOUR responsibility. Your ignorance of the procedures is likely to bite you at some point. Giving up on the simple online reporting is perhaps an indication of your attitude. You may or may not be aware how corrupt that office(r) is.
  11. He will need longer than that, current processing time is about 6 weeks - BUT, only just improved from 11/13 weeks and it looks strikes in the UK might impact on time scales. The fallback is an Emergency Travel Document from the British embassy - but I suspect that they will be in holiday for most of the rest of the year. Bangkok today would be my advice - although I also suspect that he will have no problem leaving the country with the damaged passport. I am intrigued to see how the passport renewal (replacement) will pan out......if the OP leaves on the 3rd of January he will not be here to collect the new passport.
  12. You can ban whatever you like but you will not stop addicts getting their supplies of whatever they ae addicted to. Do you really think that banning alcohol sales in these locations will prevent an alcoholic getting alcohol, banning sales between 14:00/17:00?, banning sales on some Buddha and election days? Absolutely not; it is simply an inconvenience to those 'normal' people who might want to buy alcohol. Prohibition simply drives activity underground and, in any event, Mom and Pop shops in the villages (where most of the alkies live) will sell 24 hours a day. Educate and encourage a change in behaviours .
  13. You are on safe ground............... This is "home" - even for us aliens.
  14. Declared UDI years ago......did you miss it. Don't make the mistake of taking what you read in Thailand literally.
  15. I suspect he is looking for personal experiences and recommendations......but thanks for stating the blindingly obvious. D'Varee has decent rates at the moment not sure if the standard ticks all the boxes but worth a look.
  16. These are the good times. The very best of times.
  17. In all honesty, I think I am pleased that has changed. Being CAUGHT on overstay always carried a high risk for as long as I can remember.
  18. Hmmm! Who would have known it.......
  19. As an extension to this question I have a friend who has just moved into a nearby condo. He was given a form of Power of Attorney in connection with the TM30. Can he register online (as a tenant) and file his change of address on there?
  20. +1 The only 24 hour delay that I incurred was on 6th December....all others within 10 seconds
  21. So. someone breaks the very clear conditions of stay in this country and you want to blame the system and the rules? There is no excuse for 38 days over stay - som nom na. Jeez, you guys complain when the authorities don't do their jobs - now you whine when they DO!
