  1. What do you (both) actually want to happen in the event of her death. I can pretty much guarantee whatever that is, will not be achieved unless she makes Will.
  2. The rules of intestacy don't work like that
  3. There is no possible excuse for 15 days overstay.
  4. 30 days visa exempt entry at worst. Which can be extended by 30 days.
  5. Google MSIG travel insurance. A 2 minute job. Just done mine for my UK/Europe trip next year.
  6. If you need to ask that question you would not understand the answer. Now trot on and enjoy the holidays when they get here.
  7. Then there is no debate; there is no doubt - Brexit is the exact answer to the OP's question. What a waste of 51 pages when the answer is so clear.
  8. Yes. A friend who has PR has the same card as those on extensions.
  9. You are not prone to stereotyping are you?
  10. Such as..................
  11. Big man - you tell them. You are better off without that nasty Thailand. Yet you still feel the need to post on a Thailand internet forum ?
  12. I can't argue with that. But in an endemically corrupt country I guess you have to start somewhere. Usually the lowest hanging fruit.
  13. Now THAT sounds like contentment. Financial and emotional security, doing the (simple) things that keep you happy. Great to hear a really positive story.
  14. No we don't. "all" .....don't be so arrogant
  15. I hope the message is clear ...........overstay is illegal (and unnecessary), take the p!ss out of the system and arrest is the consequence of the offense.
  16. Yes..........good to see the authorities doing their job.
  17. Indeed. For the OP - forget excitement. Concentrate first on contentment, IMO that is the most important thing when adapting to expat life (it also applies to any form of retirement). Contentment is about the 'boring days', the ordinary days, and being comfortable with yourself is the key to enjoying this (final) stage of your life. Contentment is the base from which you can add excitement - or whatever else you need to enrich your life. Those who simply look for excitement will be disappointed fairly quickly - expat life is not a one month holiday.
  18. They never tell you (I hate that). You either get the visa sticker in the passport - or a 'reasons why' rejection letter.
