  1. Stop whining and just get on with your life. You knew knew what the score was before you came here. No wonder the Aussies call us whinging Poms!
  2. That humour clearly went over your head - I guess I am not surprised by that. This won't suit your agenda either, but give it a go:- https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/martin-lewis-gives-good-news-28069836?fbclid=IwAR30JscJTwrUz6XfWH0Ol7Abl4tt7lQhXGvBbwU4BJfZNw2SquSpKpabhEU
  3. I guess that we all have different experiences. I had loads of issues with Amazon in the UK and virtually none with Lazada.
  4. You have clearly never used Shopee.............................or a host of others.
  5. With mine there is a reduction.....my partner will get 45% of my gross pension prior to my lump sum. Don't need to be married, just submit a nomination form. To answer the OP - "no" to the bereavement benefit - unless she is resident in the UK at the time of making a claim. They sneaked the change in, in the Pensions Act 2014. BEREAVEMENT BENEFITS IN THAILANDThe Pensions Act 2014 became law on 14th May 2015, when it received the Royal Assent. It comes into force on 6th April 2016With effect 6th April 2016, Thai Widows, living in Thailand, will not be eligible for any benefits under new laws which are known as Bereavement support payment. To be eligible to receive benefits (formerly known as bereavement benefits).....(1) A person is entitled to a benefit called bereavement support payment if—the person is ordinarily resident in Great Britain, or a specified territory, when the spouse or civil partner dies,Thailand, unfortunately is NOT a specified territory.
  6. Sutus Court is notably busy. No rooms were available in Sutus 1 recently.
  7. Most people don't bother - as Dr Jack said, they will check at the time of the next application. However, if you insist on keeping the appointment, you are correct about the documents - no bank letter required. Go straight to desk 8 don't bother queueing.
  8. Face. I have seen red plates still on a car after 3 years........people think that the owner has a new car....
  9. If you are in Thailand your culture is Thai culture.
  10. I didn't see any mention of an international flight in the OP (I understand that is where an issue could arise if she was stamped in on a British passport).. I read this "She left Phuket for Bangkok, SUVARNABHUMI AIRPORT, check in ok, Hello Immigration....."..... as referring to a Phuket/Bangkok flight.
  11. I am calling BS on this. You do not encounter Immigration on domestic flights, you don't even need a passport to fly.
  12. You might want to try checking the rules...........................I am not aware that any insurance is required for a Non-O visa.
  13. Thank you. I have advised gov.uk accordingly.
  14. I believe this is incorrect. There is a 6 month validity rule - certainly for British passports, and I doubt Italian will be any different. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/thailand/entry-requirements
  15. 1st October 45 days - land or air.
  16. He is now, after amending his original itinerary.
  17. If advising a middle class friend from the UK (who had not been to Thailand before but was looking at retirement locations) I would suggest that they start with Hua Hin. His reaction to a month there would dictate where (if anywhere) he should go next.
  18. It won’t happen. If you think it will, then you know little about the Thai mentality. The mask has become their amulet.
  19. Ask the bookkeeper/organiser, their records are usually immaculate. GF’s mother 200k, GF’s father 150k, GF’s 2 year old son 80k. A profit was made on both parents after insurance and pink envelopes, I made up the 30k shortfall on the lad. The number of days laying in rest is one of the biggest factors - with any given number of monks coming 3 times a day. To the OP. - It is not your responsibility to calculate the cost - get the family to tell YOU what the costs will be. Comments on here will act as a benchmark for whether you are being ripped off or not.
  20. Does that bother you?……………my search for a virgin in Thailand will continue but, after 16 years, I am beginning to lose all hope of finding one. After than it is just a numbers game…2 or 3 a day, week, month, year? A second hand dart board is just as useful whether it has 1,000 pricks in it, or 2,000 pricks.
  21. The plan fails at the first hurdle. You will be stamped in for 30 days. - 45 day visa exempt does not start until 1 October.
  22. Presumably, Martin Fry of ABC did not attend grammar school. - the lyrics to “The look of love” just would not have scanned so well ……..
