  1. If you were unable to read between the lines.. I detest mass Chinese tourism The fact that Covid kept them away from Thailand is a gold star for Covid in my book
  2. Get Easy Pass, your life will improve immediately.
  3. For years I went to Pattaya Clinic in Naklua; 500 Baht for the usual tests
  4. Ubon Joe didn't say that, neither did Dr Jack. Please see posts 2 and 3 in this thread. But I suspect that the misquote better suits your agenda.
  5. I agree, it doesn't - and that makes the argument for such a ticket pointless. The airline's obligations are not diminished by having an onward flight (a paid for return flight with the same airline would balance the coffers). So, the question remains - why would an airline ask for on onward ticket. I see no/minimal benefit to them.
  6. Sad, but true.
  7. From Chiang Mai ? No direct flights from CNX. The flight to Khon Kaen, then drive, is sensible. I have driven a few times; interesting journey but 10/11 hours as I recall. Stopping off in Pitsanaluk and making it a two day journey is far more comfortable if you have to drive.

  9. I only asked because a friends wife (with a 2 year visa) had an issue at Manchester. She/he bottled it and bought a return ticket online on the spot - I would have taken The Old Git's approach.
  10. Interesting - you would almost imagine that it would be more relevant. Did she ever enter through Manchester?
  11. Thank you. This will sound a dumb question......... despite taking hundreds of flights I have never booked a 'flexible' ticket (as far as I know) - I have taken the option to change the date which normally carries a fee of circa 2,000 Baht....... what are the features of a flexible ticket and how do they work? One advantage of leaving the return leg to later is cash flow. I invariably book a long way ahead; for May 2023 I am looking at a one-way Premium Economy with EVA to LHR and taking my chance on the price of the return leg. I am also not certain of that return date which should be sometime in July.
  12. Whilst the application is repetitive (better than before), most people cute the saving hassle with VfS visits.
  13. Excellent, thank you. Any thoughts on whether an airline might insist on seeing a return ticket? I understand their obligations re passengers who are refused entry......
  14. Flexibility. Who said "a six month stay"? There was a good example last week where a poster made frequent business trips to the (perhaps every other month) but never stayed longer than 180 days in any one year (even though that isn't a 'rule'). My friend was probably looking at his GF taking a 4 month visit, with a 2 month visit later in the year.
  15. A friend has been told that his GF will need to show a return flight to/from UK at airline check in and at UK Border Force. His GF will have a 2 year visa and they had not intended to book return flights in order to maximise flexibility. I can see nothing about that on the gov.uk or Thai Airways websites.
  16. Thailand Individual - Taxes on personal income Thailand taxes its residents and non-residents on their assessable income derived from employment or business carried on in Thailand, regardless of whether paid in or outside Thailand. Residents who derive income from abroad are taxable on that income if remitted into Thailand in the year in which it is received. https://taxsummaries.pwc.com/thailand/individual/taxes-on-personal-incom
  17. I was referring to their service when the BKK/LHR route was still in operation.
  18. That is OK in the Boonies where the BiB are not exactly the brightest spanners in the toolbox. In Pattay, or Bangkok, they would deal with your sausage first - then deal with you.
  19. Which condo; everyone is different.
  20. It was your question - you were looking for answers. The answers I gave you are from real life examples - and you clearly know zip about the Thai mentality and psyche. I should have realised the post was really about your ego and trying to put yourself on a pedestal. ASEAN NOW is not here to blow smoke up you a55! If you had not made adequate provision before the last 6 months of your life you are unlikely to achieve in the last 180 days.
  21. Braggart! ???? That would get me a comfortable room, a comfortable girl and comfort food.
