  1. If my missus' family had relied on the men (1 father, 4 brothers) it would have been a complete disaster. The men were rarely sober enough to be lazy!! 5 of the 6 daughters brought home the bacon, 4 from the entertainment industry.
  2. You are starting learn........ I can see that it will be a long process.
  3. There is no rule that says you should wear a mask on a motorbike............(there is a rule that says you must wear a helmet) You would have to be some kind of dumbass if you actually thought that a mask afforded protection on a motorbike......
  4. DOH! If he wanted to that he wouldn't have asked the question. There are several reasons why I would not take them out myself.
  5. Pointless, and defensive, comment. Everyone is equal until proved otherwise. Obviously, it does not take long to establish the difference in equality in a relationship between a Farang and an Isaan farm girl.
  6. As much as I disagree with that antiquated establishment view of relationships, I agree entirely that it will much harder trying to apply from a boyfriend/girlfriend point of view. A couple can marry out of convenience and live apart for chunks of the year - they would be in a much stronger position with their application. Fair? No, but the fact remains that it is much easier to provide the evidence of a marriage certificate than it is to supply evidence of a "durable relationship for in excess of two years" as an unmarried couple. I think that the OP needs to bite the bullet and marry - cheaply in Thailand, then apply or (my favoured route) in the UK on the back of a fiancee visa. The later has a good chance of success with just the simple criteria for a standard visit visa, plus a registry office booking/enquiry.
  7. Wine isn't expensive but, as you inferred, the duty is. Look at Cambodia as an example where wine can be retailed at sensible prices. Spot on re duty reductions and liberalisation - surely to God wine is a better prospect than lao khao. Most Thais are mao after 2/3 glasses of anything so at least make it more palatable/healthy.
  8. I will stand corrected but I don't think your GF can stay longer than 6 months on a standard visitor visitor. Get your paperwork together and get her back to Thailand to apply for another visa. I still think that coming to Thailand to marry so she can apply as a wife gives a stronger case. A fiancee visa is another option
  9. Especially on a motorbike - I see that 'common-sense' every day.
  10. Yes, let's wait and do fork all.............we are good at that. Can't wait to see what else you need for what 'caused' the attack on an 80+ year old guy in a mobility scooter. Perhaps Lee Byer didn't go out with a knife but wrenched it from the pensioner and killed him in self defense?
  11. The Mor Phrom app was good enough for Spain and Belgium.
  12. You really do post cr4p!
  13. Absolute Bu11sh1t.
  14. They are cute souvenirs and keep your vaccination records in one place. They have no useful purpose if you have Morprom and/or paper evidence of vaccination. I only got one because the office was next door in Buriram hospital.
  15. Whoever set the rule has clearly never married........ ....or 'galivanted around' as 50+ year old retiree.
  16. ????........and Fat Boy will not be wrong....... If Photoguy21 uses an agent for a marriage extension then he ticks all the boxes (for doing it himself) and just pays the agent to do the legwork.
  17. New one on me. I thought the IO could only sign off on retirement. ....ask Paul on Sunday - he will know...
  18. I wasn't aware that agents do extensions based on marriage.
  19. You said "it would be just as quick to do it yourself". It wouldn't - fact. Speed and convenience is a factor in favour of using an agent. Cost is not.
  20. Nobody cares! Stunning contribution.
  21. Whilst I agree with you, your argument is flawed if you think that there is more time involved in using an agent. There is not. "Not enough time/effort is saved to warrant paying agents fees" would clinch it for me. (if you have the above evidence)
  22. Not a cat in hell's chance of directly opening an account online. An agent might get it done for you.
  23. I have now, thank you.????
  24. Not for me - app or browser. Booking.com yes.
