  1. What about condominiums? If the owner submits a TM30 surely you have changed (registered) address.
  2. Thank you. I think we have to deal with the hypothesis first - and then factor in the practicalities. In this case, as stated, he cannot get an embassy letter so he needs to deposit 800k if he wants to do the extension application this year.
  3. .....and that calculated amount in the bank can be held for just, say, 60 days?
  4. That is true - if a little churlish. In theory the civil servants don't run the country or make the decisions. Unlike Brussels I doubt there are 10,000 employees earning more than the UK PM. If you are defending EU bureaucrats your credibility is lost
  5. Thank you. That makes it almost impossible for a first time applicant. IF he had the embassy income letter do you think that the balancing money in the bank for 2 months would be sufficient? It would be if applying with 800k in the bank.
  6. Regarding applying for Extension of stay after arriving in Thailand with ‘O’ visa for purposes of retirement. Can the income method plus money in the bank be used when applying first time. Mate of mine has 50,000 baht a month pension so would have to put about 9 grand or so AUD to that to reach 65,000 a month. If he deposited that cash on arrival and then last 30 days of visa made application for extension of stay, would that be ok if he obtained a letter from the bank showing pension going in from Australia in such a short duration?
  7. That is simply not true. If it was true you would be able to quote the relevant section from the Civil & Commercial Code. I invite you to do so - or retract your nonsense comment. Here is a link to help you try and find it......... https://www.samuiforsale.com/law-texts/thailand-civil-code-part-1.html
  8. Do you have no friends or family in the UK?
  9. Depends which Immigration office....................Bumfuknowhere can multitask, but the processing plant that is Jomtien will send you to different windows. Maybe Jomtien when you back to collect your passport.....
  10. Good luck with that one.......
  11. Probably grumpier than normal because Indyref2 isn't happening.......????
  12. 15 days before (which is really 14 calendar days_ up to the actual due date is the reporting period online. 7 days grace period afterwards for personal visits.
  13. Yes. I had forgotten about them - obviously, some Remainers have not.
  14. Just for the purposes of the debate (and not a criticism of the OP) I am not sure I would have waited 2 weeks for a response; I know he has 7 days to report personally but after a week of waiting I would have reported in person.
  15. I send him postcards from various parts of Thailand (at his request) to brighten up his wall. He is fully aware that I live full time in Thailand. Like most health professionals they are only interested in your health and medical welfare - they are not interested in the political bollicks.
  16. Agree 100%. Golf clubs, for example, offer tiers of membership…….full membership, junior membership, weekday membership. The EU’s mistake was handing out full membership privileges to all and sundry.
  17. I thought we were talking about visas, NOT extensions?
  18. The visa is not to be confused with an extension (that cannot go beyond the expiry date of a passport). Quite simply you carry the old passport (with the visa in) AND the new passport which has your latest immigration stamps in.
  19. You will be aware that you cannot open a U.K. bank account (Wise excepted) unless you are resident in the OK. Logic suggests that it is not a huge step to then review EXISTING accounts and - possibly - seek to close accounts of non-residents. I understand that the reason relates to increased regulatory requirements for such customers. I am not personally aware of any institution openly coming out and saying “off you go”. Nevertheless, I have always advocated maintaining a U.K. correspondence address……and at least one U.K. bank. Personally, I think you will be OK - but it may still be worth considering using a relatives UK address. At the last count I had active accounts with 4 banks, 10 different credit cards, with credit limits of £90,000, 2 Premium Bond accounts and I remain on the books of the local doctor. I have lived in Thailand for 16 years.
  20. I think you will find that the forum is anonymous…..
  21. I didn’t. I am an alien though, so I am not really resident here.
  22. How well do you think that approach will go? When the tail starts trying to wag the dog the outcome is rarely successful. They don’t give a flying fart about the customer - only that the customer ticks their regulatory boxes. Conform - or, don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.
  23. Anything is valid with 2 witness "I bequeath all my residual assets after testimentory expenses to John Smith of 2 Acacia avenue." Only if there is anything complicated do you need professional advice Start off with....what have I got, who do I want to leave it to. Keep it simple.
  24. Really? Kasikorn bank, Jomtien issue them on the spot.
