  1. I can't argue that some of the rooms are bit tired. But a fair price for a great seaview - and I only use it for 'entertaining'.
  2. LOL ...no using the missus is not against the law. BUT....relying on them often backfires (Immigration and elsewhere)
  3. ????..when did Christmas Day fall on the 26th?
  4. I am not sure if you are trolling.....but Immigration status and activities are YOUR responsibility. Your ignorance of the procedures is likely to bite you at some point. Giving up on the simple online reporting is perhaps an indication of your attitude. You may or may not be aware how corrupt that office(r) is.
  5. He will need longer than that, current processing time is about 6 weeks - BUT, only just improved from 11/13 weeks and it looks strikes in the UK might impact on time scales. The fallback is an Emergency Travel Document from the British embassy - but I suspect that they will be in holiday for most of the rest of the year. Bangkok today would be my advice - although I also suspect that he will have no problem leaving the country with the damaged passport. I am intrigued to see how the passport renewal (replacement) will pan out......if the OP leaves on the 3rd of January he will not be here to collect the new passport.
  6. You can ban whatever you like but you will not stop addicts getting their supplies of whatever they ae addicted to. Do you really think that banning alcohol sales in these locations will prevent an alcoholic getting alcohol, banning sales between 14:00/17:00?, banning sales on some Buddha and election days? Absolutely not; it is simply an inconvenience to those 'normal' people who might want to buy alcohol. Prohibition simply drives activity underground and, in any event, Mom and Pop shops in the villages (where most of the alkies live) will sell 24 hours a day. Educate and encourage a change in behaviours .
  7. You are on safe ground............... This is "home" - even for us aliens.
  8. Declared UDI years ago......did you miss it. Don't make the mistake of taking what you read in Thailand literally.
  9. I suspect he is looking for personal experiences and recommendations......but thanks for stating the blindingly obvious. D'Varee has decent rates at the moment not sure if the standard ticks all the boxes but worth a look.
  10. These are the good times. The very best of times.
  11. In all honesty, I think I am pleased that has changed. Being CAUGHT on overstay always carried a high risk for as long as I can remember.
  12. Hmmm! Who would have known it.......
  13. As an extension to this question I have a friend who has just moved into a nearby condo. He was given a form of Power of Attorney in connection with the TM30. Can he register online (as a tenant) and file his change of address on there?
  14. +1 The only 24 hour delay that I incurred was on 6th December....all others within 10 seconds
  15. So. someone breaks the very clear conditions of stay in this country and you want to blame the system and the rules? There is no excuse for 38 days over stay - som nom na. Jeez, you guys complain when the authorities don't do their jobs - now you whine when they DO!
  16. No it isn't, I have been here 17 years and traveled extensively by day and night .. occasionally, only occasionally, on buses. With drugs/alcohol tests and doubling up on drivers the accidents are much fewer. Show me stas to prove me wrong big man . .
  17. Indeed. That is why there are the occasional 'joint checks' involving Immigration police and 'normal' boys in brown.
  18. "If you don't ask, you don't get"........I suspect that it is no more intelligent than that. On the other hand, it is not unusual for a Farang to boast about/inflate their status...... after all, most bar dwellers in Pattaya sois 6/7/8 seem to be surgeons or airline pilots.
  19. ....but they are not Tam Ruat...????
  20. The police don't actually have the right to check your immigration status - that is the role of Immigration. But - I am not going to argue with them if asked (I never have been in 17 years) and I always carry a copy of my passport ID page plus last extension stamps.
  21. I agree that it is necessary to be able to show ID........but that does not need to be a passport.
