  1. I think that you overrate the role/abilities of a VfS clerk.
  2. You have a mirror? I wasn't wrong. Actually, neither were you - you just submitted one piece of unnecessary paperwork
  3. There is no risk........it is obvious - or it isn't.
  4. It is the correct answer.....................most people's appearance does not change that significantly over, say, 10 years. A friend had to have his countersigned because he had lost over 100lb and his face was half the size of 10 years earlier!
  5. No.....unless your appearance has changed significantly (ie can't be recognised) since the last renewal.
  6. No Giddy, I was looking in the right place - where the IO had inserted the date for me. Copy of passbook and passport ID page only.
  7. Could you please provide a reference for the highlighted quote above. My understanding was that the Civil and Commercial Code only provided 50% for the spouse class in most cases (unless there are no other classes of heirs). Section 1635. Surviving Spouse The surviving spouse is entitled to the inheritance of the deceased in the class and according to the division as hereunder provided: if there is an heir according to Section 1629 (1) surviving or having representatives as the case may be, such surviving spouse is entitled to the same share as an heir in the degree of children; if there is an heir according to Section 1629 (3) and such heir is surviving or has representatives, or if in default of an heir according to Section 1629 (1), there is an heir according to Section 1629 (2) as the case may be, such surviving spouse is entitled to one half of the inheritance; if there is an heir according to Section 1629 (4) or (6) and such heir is surviving or has representatives, or if there is an heir according to Section 1629 (5) as the case may be, such surviving spouse is entitled to two-thirds of the inheritance; if there is no heir as specified in Section 1629, such surviving spouse is entitled to the whole inheritance.
  8. Nevertheless, the evidence on the ground is that numbers are significantly up. Well below 2019 highs and thankfully no Chinese mass tourism.
  9. ....and for me, but for some 3 days is not enough. They were doing offers on passes but surprisingly they had not reduced the entry fee of US$37 that was significantly increased 4 years ago. Visitor numbers have been decimated.
  10. No pool, but very handy for Pub Street and adjacent area. A deluxe room comes out at under 1,500 Baht a night. Ta Prohm will be similar. There is a huge choice in your price range but Siem Reap was VERY slowly recovering from Covid when we visited at the end of August. - many hotels like the City River had not reopened, nor the big 4/5 star places on the outskirts. Siem Reap was virtually 100% tourist dependent so Covid hit it harder than many places.
  11. You haven't actually got a visa but, YES, you will have difficulty applying for your next extension of stay if the balance has dropped below prescribed limits. I am not proposing that (except in an exceptional case where there may be a terminal illness - this thread was about a widow accessing 'Immigration funds'.)
  12. I am not advocating falling below the published; I am saying that the 3 month check at Jomtien is pointless and there are no repercussions for not visiting, Not attending the 90 day 'appointment' will not affect getting your next extension. Dropping below 800/400k will. Is that clear for you.
  13. I can open it. LOL...we have the same piece of paper (which is useless anyway) and you are looking at the box on the left whilst I am looking at the dated instruction on the bottom ????. The only time that I ever went back I handed over a copy of the bank book and passport ID page to desk 8.
  14. That is not an 'appointment letter '....this is ..
  15. You would have to post that for me to believe. Mine doesn't make any reference to a copy of the extension page - and the letter looks like a standard template. I just want people to understand exactly what is required and I would find it odd that 2 people dealing with the same Immigration office are given different 90 day letters ........mas this is Thailand, perhaps I shouldn't find that odd. Period
  16. You incorrectly quoted the following " updated bankbook, as well as passport and current extension page" I was simply correcting your mistake (you are welcome)...... the extension page is NOT required. EXACTLY what is required is EXACTLY what I posted.
  17. I have heard of more than one case - at several offices. A payment of some sort often resolves the issue. A few years ago a friend's wife was told that her Farang was too close to the 40k p.m. mark and that she should pay 2,000 Baht. Foolishly, she did. This was in the days of the embassy letter so the evidence was irrefutable.
  18. It was OK when there were 8 others............
  19. Buriram never asked you to return after 3 months and I don't think Khon Kaen do. I have only experienced it as a requirement in Jomtien.
  20. That don't check. If they do, they ignore it. They are only concerned at the time of application that you have conformed with the balance requirements of the previous approval ie 800 k for 5 months, then not less than 400k.
  21. I agree.....I was wrong to suggest immediate withdrawal of 400k after 2 months.........unless (as this about estate planning) you do not expect to make it to the next expiry date.
  22. No it doesn't. It specifically asks for only 2 things...."COPY YOUR BANK BOOK AND COPY OF THE PASSPORT"......verbatim..
  23. I am talking about Jomtien. The letter specifically says PLEASE SHOW AN UPDATED BANK BOOK TO IMMIGRATION ON .....11 September (the capitals are from Immigration, not me)
