  1. OK. Not sure if it has been covered above but beware of the implications of switching the basis of your extension. I switched from monthly transfers (which I still make) to money in the bank. I could easily have made the mistake of stopping monthly transfers once I had ensured that 800k was in the bank 2 months before. The Immigration first checked that I had complied with the previous basis of the extension before checking that 800k was in the bank for 2 months.
  2. Not sure if you deliberately missed the point....... which was valid in the context of the post he was replying to... (using Blair as an example where politicians are not always judged by their actions - but I suspect you knew that).
  3. Fair comment; I personally wouldn't bother to switch back to Wise, just transfer less on subsequent occasions.
  4. No problem, but why would you transfer money that is 'protected' and earning interest.
  5. You've got him! ???? He has descended to personal insults and pedantry.
  6. Thank you for posting that, I obviously was unaware of that rule change.
  7. Good to have the options. Nothing wrong with enjoying the company of women.
  8. Still have house and land Isaan. I also have a condo at the seaside which better suits my lifestyle at the moment.
  9. You have to understand that some of those people who invested their earnings in wine, women and holidays in Pattaya, also live in rural Isaan with their partners - usually acquired in the bars of Pattaya Their meagre pittance of a pension is sufficient to cover their daily intake of Chang and Khao pad and kwitiow. They live rent free in their partner's humble abode and they happy - happy in the knowledge that life for them in Thailand is far superior to what they would have had in their home countries. I came here at age 52 with nothing and I managed to keep most of it! ????.....I lived that life in Isaan for a while and really enjoyed the Pad Krappow and Kwitiows. In fairness I knew that a couple of decisions I made should ensure that I had more than enough income and capital to have a very comfortable life. They did eventually kick in and gave me even more options to ensure that I maximised my happiness in Thailand.
  10. Last year I was one of those Muppets who dutifully returned on the appointment date.......I won't be doing that again.
  11. Indeed. My point - the 3 month appointment is pointless.

  13. Although he only joined the forum in June this year, I think we can assume that this is not his first time around
  14. Don't do it then - start a trend!
  15. There is a whole thread that I started on unfreezing UK state pensions.
  16. Without any evidence to back that up, then your comment is rubbish. I am not aware of one single penalty being applied in such circumstances - but with evidence the contrary I will stand corrected.. ....over to you.
  17. A foot in the mouth moment for sure. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-29249656
  18. I have had a few years of low rises on my occupational pension that I took at age 52. Now is the time to reap the benefits of higher inflation.
  19. All threads drift off topic at some point. Too far and the Mods deem fit to clean them up. A few posters also seem to feel the need to make a comment as well.
  20. Indeed it is....but as this my thread I felt perfectly justified in trying to the post about. Feel free to use the report button if you are concerned about it being off topic.
  21. I think any Thai who has settled status can claim a pension.....based on their own contributions.
  22. He is closer to the reality of what happens than many.
  23. Actually the embassy work for no one. There is nothing that they do for the deceased - or widow.
  24. That doesn't seem to happen. IF the embassy are advised news seems to reach DWP.
