The bill passed final approval by the Senate at 02.30 a.m. on November 20 with a vote of 63 to 13.Would it have passed if the rest of the Senate members who were told to go home had been there?
Quite right. And not the first time the PTP cheated on the vote.
I would expect that the CC would take into account other midemeaours from this bunch and ban the lot of them from politics along with their bumbling leader.

This seems to happen a lot. Someone need to put out a list of who does what, so cases go to the right court. No it's not mine, it's his, no it's your.
One would think that the government, with all its legislative authority and experts to hand such as the council of state would be able to:-
a) Ensure that every candidate that was put forward for election was in fact elligible
Ensure that they lodged their complaints at the right court

I got as far as "The conflict is being waged between rival factions of the elite, but also on class, ethnic and regional fronts" and it became apparent that the author is a buffoon

How about stopping the buses loaded with protesters before they get to Bangkok?
All the southern rent-a-thugs could be stopped long before reaching Bangkok.
Knock down stages blocking public streets. (offer other venues, parks, stadiums etc.
cut their power.
Shut down their media.
Actually DO something.
I think somebody put something in your spinach

"Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na Ranong has apologized the farmers for the delay, saying that the payment process was being disrupted during the 3-week seizure by the People's Democratic Reform Committee last November"
What a hideous man. These payments are up to 4 months late and he comes up with that?

Certainly can't in Chiang Mai, that's for sure."Security guards later surrounded the man and led him out of the room. After the heckler has been removed, Mr. Abhisit told the crowd that such harassment is a reason why the upcoming election on 2 February 2014 would not be a fair one."
Yes, we can't have people voicing their opinions just before an election, or at any time under the SuDems!
Useful well thought out constructive post, very impressive.
He's quite correct.
Apart from murdering Democrat candidates and preventing canvassing as well as attacking gay marches, the red chirts in CM have a whole list of offences against democracy the most recent of which was throwing rocks at a PDRC protest.

"follow HM King Bhumibol's speech which advised Thais to perform their duty and live together peacefully".
Now would that be the most decent and respectful thing Suthep? Tell your little temper tantrum throwing thugs to go home and live in peace as you have been asked to do.
Show some respect
Perhaps you can remind us of what the PTP government did just a few hours after the speech by threatening and intimidating the protesters.
Respect? Go ask Aretha Franklin

The red shirts should be asking themselves what to do now the woman they got married to has hoist the jolly Roger, donned a pointy hat and cancelled their ATM cards.
When they've figured that out they should then be asking themselves how it is that the inimitable and despicable Suthep is trying to divorce their wife, burn the jolly Roger and become more popular

If you pay much heed to the police reports, he was shot at from multiple directions at the same time through the same entry and exit wound.

I think that all on here agree that the reform council cannot be of Suthep's chosing and neither can it be a PTP function.
The question is "who can facilitate the reforms to everybody's satisfaction?"
Maybe the army chief is the answer

The many comments on here about the "amart" and the "elite" are shot out of the water now.
The rubber farmers, the students, government workers, civil servants, many workers organisations and unions and now rice farmers are all on the offensive with the government

Many of the replies to the OP fail to give credit to Yingluck, who speaks much better English than her elder brother. Well done Ms Shinawatra.

Thai anti-graft panel to charge hundreds of Thai MPs

The PTP is quite aware that the CC is one of the few remaining endependent organisations and resents this.
For the record, saying that the chnages are unconstitutional and kicking the bill out is not punitive.
Cheating on the vote and hacking about with the act whilst it is going through parliament are 2 completely different matters - both of which show the governments contempy for democracy and should be punished to the maximum.
