  1. If the good Lord himself flew in on a fluffy white cloud and said he was going to abolish corruption in Thailand I'm afraid it wouldn't quite cut it for me.

This bunch stands no chance of convincing me. If they wanted to make a start they could arrest Thaksin

  2. Both Pol. Capt. Chalerm and Mr. Jatuporn have finally come to the realization that they are no longer needed nor necessary to the Party. Both are not happy campers.

    Tools in a nutshell.

And talking of nuts, the red shirts seem to be on the verge of gelding themselves if they can't find a leader.

Strangely enough that would strengthen Thaksin's position.

  3. "Environmental activists and engineers have warned Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra she will face impeachment if her government does not follow the Constitution and conduct public hearings to truly listen to opinions from people who may be affected by its massive water-management scheme"

The threats made by these perported trade interests and afiliations with their apparently interested quangos are rather late in the day with their objections to this widely publicised and debated series of projects.

I hope that Thailand has a 'Statute of Limitations' to bring these spoilers to heel. Thailand's public works are often aflicted by 'Spoilers' that coral interested parties to aide them in pursueing their self interests as oposition polititians or land owners.

Every Public Works Project is oposed by NIMBIES and oportunists that deam their interests to be above those of the very people that the projects are intended to serve or protect. Such oposition serves to increase project costs though seldom suceeds in the core ojective of project cancellation.

So you don't think the laws should be abided by?

  4. I wouldn't make too much out of a photo like this taken during a meeting. Just a couple weeks back, I was giving training and I had to go to the back of the room to have a quiet chat with an observing consultant, 20 years my junior, sitting behind a desk. I could have either got her to stand up, bent over her, or squatted next to her... I did the latter because it was easiest for me, put us at eye-level, and was the least disruptive to others in the room. I'm sure if someone had taken a photo of me at that point, they could have put the same sort of spin on it, but it would have been way off the mark.

    Squatters' rights mate.

Don't try that after a som tum.
