I like Jomtien for a change; somewhere different to go for a meal, a beer, a coffee, the beach.

Economy Cambodian Labour Shortage Hits Pattaya’s Economy
champers replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
If they cheese off the Burmese as well Pattaya will be goosed. -
Just done this: 5 minute wait to reach the counter, documents checked then shown to the next counter a metre away. The officer there took a minute to write me a new slip, gave me my passport back and said cheerfully "go home". All told 6 minutes in and out. Terrific service, just as long as you have all your paperwork in order. Well done to the staff there for the improvement.

Another happy ending in Pattaya. Glad to see the police pulled him off. -
Crime Singapore Tourist Arrested for Flying Drone on Walking Street
champers replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
If this guy is percieved to be being harshly treated back in Singapore their tourists will stop coming to Thailand and they'll be quick about it. Common sense must prevail. -
Bought by Heinz but still trading as Watties.

At Best Supermarket in Pattaya they have been selling for 59 Baht. The price at Villa Market last week was 139 Baht. Heinz, HQ in Pittsburgh USA, have production plants all over the world. If you are in the UK that would likely be Wigan where your beans are coming from.

Crime Swedish Tourist Nabbed for Illegal Drone Use in Pattaya

Depends on the company you keep, I suppose. I doubt any tourists watch or understand the news in Thai. -
Report Pattaya's Walking Street to Glow with New 3D LED Sign
champers replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
It will be in 3D, apparently. A pair of silicon enhanced busters zooming in to captivate and thrill the watching hordes. I can't wait. -
Tourism Foreign Tourists in Pattaya Feel "Short-Changed" Amid Local Deals
champers replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Civil servants are what I would call middle class and they tend to spend beyond their means. My daughter in law occasionally comes to Pattaya from Bangkok and has also been to Hua Hin this year. She runs a small business selling Thai desserts at markets around Bangkok and sends both her girls to a fee paying kindergarden. Her and her hubby work their socks off, have a home in Issan as well as Bangkok. Their last visit here they stayed a Sunday night at Hard Rock hotel on a heavily reduced rate. -
Tourism Foreign Tourists in Pattaya Feel "Short-Changed" Amid Local Deals
champers replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
The Thai government subsidises locals who are strapped for cash. Can they be expected to subsidise foteign tourists as well, who are far wealthier in relative terms?- 135 replies

Some fat girls are very popular with some demographics. If they weren't making money they wouldn't be working there.

Not true. The P4P scene is more lively than ever, Soi Buakhao is always busy and new bar complexes are a common sight. Western tourist numbers have dropped off but the shortfall there has been replaced by those from all over Asia.

Sad news with the passing of Wyn Davies during the week at age 83. Played for Wrexham, Bolton, City and United, Newcastle; where he won the Fairs Cup; and Blackpool. He finished his working life as a baker for Warburtons in Bolton. He was known as Wyn the Leap. RIP Wyn.

How did he have a big bag of broccoli after just arriving at Swampy? Did he fly in with it and take it through customs or is there a shop in the airport where you can buy it?

The rent on my condo went down during Covid and; even though it has increased a couple of times post Covid; is still well below the pre-Covid level. It's all about supply and demand and just now supply exceeds demand. Will this still be the case in 5 years or 10 years? Who really knows.

Cholos have recently opened by Dolphin Circus on Naklua/Pattaya Road. They describe themselves as the best Mexican place in Bangkok. They already have 70 reviews and are very highly rated, scoring an average of 4.9 out of 5. Google Maps shows all reviews along with the menu and photos. It's not quite central Pattaya but is 5-10 minutes away on a Baht bus.

I like Yorkies sausages. The now deceased founder of the company was a UK butcher.

I see the police have requested help from mainland forces. Lynch mobs must be driven off the streets and the ringleaders arrested and sent to trial for rioting. It's the UK in 2025, not Germany in the 1930s.

End of an Era: Marks & Spencer Closing Down Across Thailand
champers replied to falangUK's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I was dissappointed with the quality of their underpants; inferior to those in the UK. As previously mentioned, their Jaffa Cakes were addictive and will be sorely missed by me. -

In yesterday's BP, it was reported that the Thai military has begun a recruitment drive. -
