    He did that already:

Bangkok Christian Hospital is one of the hospitals where you can get lab tests done without seeing a doctor, and that's what he seems to have done.  St Louis Hospital is another one. Prices are similar.

Quite a bit cheaper than RSU, by the way.

Vejthani used to offer this, too, not sure about today.

St. Louis no longer offers tests w/out seeing a doctor. My husband used to get PSA checked. Not anymore.

Just got 1 test at Bkk Christian & had planned to go to RSU. Will go back to Bkk Chr. for full profile. Tks for the tip about lab fees.

    I suggest one of these:

    https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/Krairerk-Athirakul

    https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/Khajohn-Tiranathanagul

You can save on costs by getting labs done at an outside lab such as

    https://www.brianet.com/en/labolatory/

    https://pathlab.co.th/

    https://rsuhealth.com/rsu-medical-center-en/

(although the above site lists only check up packages I have in the past been able to get a la carte labs doen there including some fairly esoteric ones)

Many thanks Sheryl. I will follow your recommendation.

I have CKD. Was initially at stage 4, now at stage 2 (almost normal for my age).

I've had high potassium levels and I now ensure regular checks. This includes creatinine (eGFR), uric acid and electrolytes.

Medications can affect potassium levels, but correct diet is important. Check online here is much kidney health information.

Thanks. This gives me some hope. I've been careful with the diet but obviously somewhere is a "trap".  I haven't used salt in cooking for years. Also watch fruit veg. Coffee is hard for me.

    Downloaded some charts about diet.

Never, ever let a hospital pick a doctor for you. It seldom ends well.

It would help me to have an idea of the nature of the kidney problem. Some nephrologists are exclusively focused on renal failure and/or transplants etc

I have limited kidney function (70%) due to  part removal of left kidney 25 yrs ago. Suddenly, potassium has gone up to 5.3. Here limit is 5.1, In Europe it is 5.5. Last test end July was 4.9. I just got present test at Bangkok Christian, no doctor involved.

Don't want to let this get out of hand. Question is why does it go up?

Could medication be the cause? Had eye op @ Medpark where they gave me Diamox, 1 Adipine & Ciprobay. Neither is kidney friendly. Test was 2 days post eye op.

    Would be grateful for advise.

  5. I need to keep an eye on my kidney issue. Can anybody recommend a specialist in Bkk? I made a start at the new hospital on Rama IV. Seem to have picked the wrong doc for me. Clash of personality. Paid 2400Thb just to be given a lab appointment 2 weeks later.

Disagree with wearing face masks on BTS, there are not even announcements anymore in the trains reminding passengers to please wear them.

If a local is paranoid and blames foreigners for Covid, well chances are high he has some Chinese ancestors, the race which might be at the heart of the disease. Not saying, just saying.

Of course I wouldn't get intimidated by someone scolding at me for not wearing the mask.

So this commentator Tim Newton seems to be more Catholic than the Pope by suggesting people not wearing the mask now are anti-Thai.

Saw his Youtube roundup for the first time now, and it will be the last time.

Listen when getting on the BTS: there is the announcement. But why is it a problem for you to wear a mask for 10 mins? Hard to respect that others prefer not to breath in what you exhale? Or do you feel superior being a foreigner?

Pattaya police suggested the victim to get a good recovery and come to them if she intended to press legal action against her boyfriend. Police did not immediately press charges on their own.

I do not understand how charges cannot be immediately pressed by the police and prosecution. This is an offence which should be pursued with the public interest in mind. Delaying prosecution gives him a window of opportunity for flight and impunity.

Sad yes. But domestic violence often sorts itself out the next morning. All is forgiven. Had father in law in police force.

Well the private hospitals do charge like wounded bulls so they make the most of whatever opportunities they do get in regards to treating patients. I'm not sure how their rates compare to the rest of the medical world. Medical treatment seems expensive in all countries.

Prices are equal to private treatment in Germany I found out while being stuck there for 2 yrs. Plus I never felt I'm being milked for all it's worth.

    Correct.

I went to local clinics for years - most were just a receptionist and the dentist was upstairs sleeping and would come and do some work and send me on my way - periodic cleaning for 1000B, the odd filling for 600-1000B. They all seemed great, clean, competent, decent level of English.

Then I went to a proper dental hospital and regretted the past 20 years of Thai soi-dental care - first thing, I was off to the in-house x-ray dept. Next i'm looking in a dictionary to find out what a periodontist is, the periodontist told me about orthodontic work that was carried out when I was a teenager wasn't the best .. and showed me why. I was blown away.

If you are in Pattaya, take a day trip to bangers and go to Chula Dental Hospital, or any other real dental hospital.

And spend a day waiting around until it is your turn (Chula dental).

They surely have a point to protest or do you agree that the country is ruined now?? High corruption, high airpollution, slow decision making, no serious investments in traffic education,  but greed  and pocketfilling... and a justicesystem that is gives no justice There is a big need to change

Wonder which immaculate country you come from? ????????

Did you ever use his service

I used him when he was still on Ekkamai. Still regret the money I spent. Cleanliness & hygiene (towels) left much to be desired. My impression at the time was that it was all about selling as many appointments as possible regardless of need.

Surely better that she does this personally rather than through an agent. It will cost her a lot less, and will put her, rather than a third party, in control of the process.

It is correct provided the initial non O ret. extension is "straight" & not a "doctored" one. In latter case it gets difficult doing it yourself.  From ED to medical to non O retirement? ????

Ask your airline if you're allowed to board with one way flight. I've travelled 14 years with no onward flight and never had a problem

If you ask your airline and they say yes it's ok you have no problem (as immigration not likely to ask or care)

You never know what check in counter staff requires as rtn ticket is a requirement. Check with your Thai embassy rules.

Air Asia stewardesses are much hotter than Thai stewardesses. Being a 'legacy airline', many of Thai's stewardesses should have retired 25 years ago, an old friend used to say that Air Canada were the same, (grab-a-grannie).

I see Thai now wanting £1350 to fly LHR-BKK rtn, it used to be half as much.

Are you flying to gawk at cabin staff or because you want to get from A to B?  Don't see where age comes into it. Plus you complain about the fare for a rtn ticket. What else do you want?

XBB strain is not something to be feared, the Singapore government recently issued this in response to an inaccurate article published in Thai media-

    https://www.gov.sg/article/factually141022-a

Small country like Singapore today had almost 13000 new infections. Hospital beds start filling. It's over? Ask the ones who don't survive. Germany reported the highest no. of infections since begin of pandemic.  Many hospitals no longer take patients. It's over? Think again.

So why mak a point of it? Covid  virus will be with us for many more years, maybe will never go away and it will mutate... Or is it only big news to keep the masks on?

How often do you want to get Covid? Less dangerous or not, it is more transmissible. Germany is seeing more infections this year than they ever had since the pandemic began. Many hospitals are no longer accept any patients, operations are being put on hold.

Consider to keep your mask on when indoors.

Money laundering is always used as an excuse.
So are only foreigners laundering money?

May be TH falls in line with apparently EU new anti money laundering rules.

We have a credit card issued in EU. After 20 yrs they require new ID proof, proof of residence in TH for the partner card. Deadline was within 10 days. I didn't respond. See what will happen. We will let the 2nd card go. Gets hardly used.

The whole phone on planes has never really been proven either. I mean do you really think everyone always turns off their phones ? I am pretty sure people forget at times. Havent heard of a single incident because of it.

I know safety first but should things like that not be tested if its factual.

But you can get internet & phone connection on flights for a fee.  What is LHs problem?

I suffer with a debilitating back problem and occassionally get a massage when muscles are tight. Last time I went the girl usually massages me wasnt available so another girl started & did similar to this applying a lot of pressure to a lower part of my back, afterwards I was in pain &  I could hardly walk for several days. They are not trained at all, they learn from others doing it like many who work in Thailand, no registered schooling/learning in their  trade is very common here which is why there are many problems in different fields of work, qualifications in Thailand are not required for many jobs

If they were medically trained masseuse you would pay a lot more. May be go for a  massage  at a hospital where it hopefully gets done by someone trained to do it.
