  1. Not a good idea. When I lived in Mandalay (Myanmar) a few years ago, a Dutch chap got tired of the early-morning chants and cut the loudspeaker wires. He served 6 months in jail for that act and had to be taken covertely early one morning from the prison to the airport after his sentence was completed, such was the anger of the local (peaceful!) Buddhists.....
  2. [quote] ... A 41-year-old woman in Pattaya urinated and defecated ... ... [quote] Some people would pay extra for that.......
  3. For me, I would definitely like to see all foreigners in the UK banned (by their visa conditions) from taking part in any kind of demonstration. Demos for Brits only....
  4. Is this nose ring like what ae put on cows and bulls - tie a rope to it and pull the animal along??
  5. These are drawings submitted by young students. That drawing is from a student in Saudi Arabia. Previously, this little satellite has transmitted images submitted by 2 of my young students in Myanmar 🙂
  6. Hmm, so how come I received this image sent out by the ISS a few days ago? The radio signal started off quite weak, since the ISS was near my horizon. Then over the next few minutes, it rose higher in my sky, passed over me at 400km altitude and then disappeared over my horizon again, with of course the loss of radio signal. Here's another image, this time from a small Russian satellite called UMKA-1, and doing the same thing... Flat Earth? You're 'aving a laf....
  7. At my wedding to #2 in Issan, we were advised to take cover when the local police and villagers started firing guns at each other.....
  8. But you're in Chiang Mai? As a foreigner, you'll probably be arrested/deported if you take part in a demostration. You can't demonstrate for your 'free' Palastine can you?
  9. If you're referring to Aung San Suu Kyi, she has never wielded any control over the police or military - they only let her have responsibility for non-confrontational aspects, such as education, health etc. Perhaps you mean someone else?
  10. Stop deflecting and answer the question.
  11. Can amy of you pro-palastinians explain why the neighbouring Muslim countries refuse to take in Palastinian refugees? (This is a rhetorical question, because I have read factual information from accredited sources about exactly why all those countries refuse the Palastinians...)
  12. I thought that's how all Icelandics drive.....
  13. It seems (IMHO), that the right to demonstrate is being woefully abused in the UK. Apparently, pro-Palastine demos have been taking place every week for the past 2 years, disrupting the daily lives of ordinary people. Perhaps the UK should follow the example of Singapore, which public demonstration is allowed - with conditions. I quote (italiques are my IMHO comments): Regulations for Demonstrations: Police Permit Required: For any public assembly, procession, or demonstration that publicizes a cause or marks an event, a permit from the police is generally required. That seems sensible, to avoid continual disruption every week.. Speakers' Corner as the Exception: The only designated area for public assembly and demonstrations is Speakers' Corner in Hong Lim Park, which is similar to the one in Hyde Park, London. Yes, that avoids disruption in city centres. Each UK city could designate a park location for these demos Citizenship Requirement: Only Singaporean citizens are permitted to participate in or organize demonstrations at Speakers' Corner. Absolutely!! Why should foreigners be allowed to disrupt our lives? Go home and demonstrate! Foreigners' Restrictions: Foreigners, even permanent residents, are prohibited from participating in outdoor demonstrations, and they also require a permit to speak at the Speakers' Corner. Common sense. Penalties for Non-Compliance: Failing to obtain the necessary permit can result in significant fines or imprisonment. Yep, I agree 100% It would be great if people could peacefully demonstrate in support of their cause one or two times. But that's not happening in the UK. The 'freedom to disrupt the lives of others' bandwagon has been well and truly jumped on.
  14. And why not? The facts are that unvaccinated kids do not ALL contract nasty diseases, but that they have a higher risk to contract these diseases that vaccinated kids, (in some cases a far higher risk). Doesn't it make sense to minimise that risk by getting vaccinations against the common childhood diseases which can debilitate or even kill your kids?
  15. Well, I wondered what it was she sliced, judging from the abbreviated headline "wife slashes husband's w......" 🙂
  16. I complete the LDAC whenever I enter or leave Laos. Many times the IO simply waves away my QR image on my phone and uses the paper cards 🙂
  17. To explain more, apparently the list of documents now asked from potential employers is very lengthy, including personal guarantees from ALL the directors of the school business... This applies to all future foreign employees, not just to me. So it is getting very difficult to work in Myanmar. I've thought about this situation, and have decided to soon make a 28-day trip to Taunggyi/Nyaung Shwe on a 28-day tourist visa, (if that is granted to me). During my 4 weeks in Myanmar, I hope to do my educational charity work, visit my potential employer in Taunggyi, and also study hard and chat as much as possible to locals to improve my Burmese language skills. (I'm sort of at the level of being able to read and say 'Hi, I want to buy 9 big tasty apples...' - so basic conversational level. If the business visa is still not forthcoming, then I might split my time between 1 month at my 'base' in Luang Prabang and 1 month in Myanmar doing my charity work. This will cost me (plane flights, hotel accommodation etc, but my budget should be ok!)
  18. Stop calling him an 'Influencer'! He is simply an 'Idiot'. Force him to pay all hospital bills and compensation to the injured parties.
  19. Common sense suggests that in ANY Asian country, it's not a good idea to criticise another Asian country. because they all have corrupt governments. Oh! Of course I don't include the nice governments in Laos, Thailand and Myanmar (the 3 countries in which I operate) in my comments!
  20. Lopburi is a dangerous place apparently - ask GG....
  21. Mea culpa, you're correct!
  22. I just wonder why the police bother with someone who has clearly scammed so much money from others. Just drop him into the nearest canal and save on the prison costs...
  23. Confused scientist here 🙂, All alloys of steel are primarily made of iron and therefore are attracted to magnets. I don't understand your comment....
  24. Many fresh products (fruit, veg, bread) undergo gamma ray irradiation before going on sale...... the gamma rays (low dosage) kills the bacteria in the product and hence extend the shelf-life.
  25. I've been advocating for a military coup for a long time, arrest and jail the government leaders, that <deleted>e mayor Khan, the useless king etc.
