  1. It's obvious that all those "precautions" worked perfectly... Close the restaurants ? Cases go up. Ban on alcohol ? Cases go up. Curfew 8 or 9 PM or whatever ? Cases go up. Phuket sandbox ? Cases go up.
  2. This news has to be linked to another news (probably more important) : "The prime minister has called a meeting for 10th September to discuss the cancelling of the emergency decree and to use the Communicable Disease Act instead. In addition, the CCSA would be dissolved and their work handed over to the Ministry of Public Health" Source : Thai News Report AKA... the end ? No more emergency decree ? The end of the Covid circus ? Or a penultimate thai fip-flop "face saving" / "rebranding" operation ?
  3. Another statement far away from the Reality. Life is cheap in Asia. It was a fact yesterday. It's fact today. And it still will be a fact tomorrow. It certainly does hurt your western feelings and logic, fair enough, but those... in the big (asian) scheme of things are irrelevant. Sorry. So the idea that thai society suddendly would "care" about 10 000 Covid deaths (on a population of 69 millions)... is deeply hysterical for an asian country that in 1992 was able to shoot in the middle of Bangkok streets on protesters. Hundreds of deaths and "disappearances"...
  4. What is fascinating is.... the total impunity. Those guys don't even try to hide (their insane "assets"). It's on public display... And what is even more fascinating is the "never enough" attitude. 1 or 2 cars... that would be fine... No... 29 is better. ???? All this demonstrates (again, but visually) the sheer magnitude of corruption in the country...
  5. Well, the question is not to ask... are the teachers doing a good job. But instead, what your niece is thinking about it ? Don't you think ? To prevent a child 7 years old to see/touch/interact with in real other children and adults (teachers in the schools) is deeply twisted and detrimental to the child developpment. It's so obvious, it's very weird to write it... Online teaching is certainly ok for teenagers and of course students (universities)... but for children in primary... it's really a collective crime we're committing. And the word is not too strong.
  6. And what about the fact that you can not buy a... frying pan in Makro (tape all over the alley).... But you can buy plastic containers. ???? If you think about it... a frying pan can be more "essential" than a container (to prepare food). Nonsense, crazy science are everywhere. It will stop not because politicians are smart (we would know it if it was the case) but because Thailand can not afford it. It's a simple as that.
  7. Indeed. For young children (primary) "online" is a disaster. A this age, they need social contacts with other children. "Online" can be okay for teenagers. But for primary level, it's madness, really. Anyway. As i wrote, i'm less optimistic for schools... Because we know international schools work "secretly" on a "sandbox program"... The idea is to have everyone vaccinated (teachers, administration, parents, maids, nanies etc.) and other rules, and only then they could open before the other schools. Why they would work on this... if all the schools could open any time soon ? Furthermore, authorities have zero problem with closing schools because for them... they are not closed ! "Online" is a like a magic "mai mi pen ah" system ! And closing schools is a good way to gain face for local politicians (governors). They do not want to take any risk... therefore they fully support "online". So add all those items... and you have a situation that looks quite dire... it could last long time....
  8. Voila. Shopping malls and restaurants (and domestic airlines probably too). What did we achieve in one month of full closure (BKK and around) ? Not much. Even... nothing... excepted the despair and economic decline for many people and their families. Anyway. Better late than never. The Covid party is over. Too expensive for a country like Thailand. However, it's easy to bet : the circus is likely to continue... for schools ! Closure. Pseudo "online" classes instead (so wrong for young children).
  9. Meanwhile... no one is wondering... China used its vaccine a lot on the domestic level (hundreds of millions of doses)... But how strange... the terrible Delta virus... doesn't seem able to spread overthere... 3 or 5 cases in megalopolis like Beijing... the first one... in six months ! Source : https://edition.cnn.com/2021/07/29/china/nanjing-china-covid-outbreak-intl-hnk/index.html ... But then nothing. Despites the fact (everybody say it worldwide) that this variant is extremely contagious. And even islands like Australia and New Zealand with extreme mesures are defeated by the virus. It can spread anyway. But not in China. How lucky they are. Must be the air. The water they drink, perhaps combined with Sinovac.. Strange chimical reaction that protects the population ? ????
  10. This is anti-science. Look a Sweden. No lockdown, thank you very much. And ? Lower number of deads (in proportions) than France or UK. 1 438 versus 1 736 and 1 931 (deads per million, source Worldometer).
  11. Spot on. Western people are often delusional. They think that the whole world has to follow their lead, has to mimic their lifestyle, and has to share their own desires, fears and dreams. In Europe, USA we have "social safety nets". In France, bars/clubs are closed since.... on year and a half. Restaurants were close more than 6 months. But they received load of cash. They can survive. But in Thailand ? What did they receive ? A few hundred THB on electricity bills ? 3 or 5 thousands THB ? 1 or 2 times ? Wake up. Millions of Thais have lost EVERYTHING. Their jobs, their savings, their assets. And for what ? To please the western baby boomers who are afraid to die ? To please the WHO ? The western pharmaceutical companies ? The politicians who wish to look good on the international scene ? The Covid party is over in developping countries, because it's too expensive. Thailand is a developping country.
  12. Sure. But that's not the point here. It's about undercounting the... infected who are vaccinated... in order to artificially increase the so called "efficacy" of the vaccines.
  13. Ask yourself another question : since when, life does matter in Thailand ? I mean in the western, baby boomers, old and tired way ? In the big scheme of things, you know very well that in Thailand no one gives a rat f... of 250 "deaths" per day (whatever if they die from or with Covid). Karma, "it's like that"... I mean, its pervasive in Thailand. So why, suddendly, it would, it should change for Covid ? You can see there that something is wrong. Covid is a disease, an event, for western countries : old, tired, rich countries. Therefore your western "analysis" of the situation is irrelevant. And this is precisely why developping countries like Thailand are going to put Covid behind them. Because it can't be sustained (1 year and hald already !). They have no choice. And because it does not match thai culture.
  14. I told you so... Reality principle. Philippines showed the way, 4 days ago : Link : https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/philippines-duterte-relax-coronavirus-curbs-capital-region-2021-08-19/ The Covid Party is over. Because we just can't afford it. It's a simple as that. Western countries will probably continue... They have the means (budget deficits, QEs with central banks etc.). Let them eat their cake, their debts and their insanity. But here ? No way San José. So, the doom brigade : soon... unemployement. Your party is over.... And us, at last, we will be able to resume our daily life... ????
  15. Of course the "positivity rate" shows that the something is wrong with thai numbers... Aka : not enough tests. But... again... if you have millions of "positive cases" but most of those "infected people"... are not sick... the famous "asymptomatics cases" (in the Covid newspeak)... then who cares ? Again, what matters is the number of people who are really sick, AKA who needs medical treatment (and i'm not talking about a paracetamol pill because "darling i have a little headache tonight"). Therefore, we should look at : -patients in hospital (not "hospitel", and not "at home") -patients in "serious conditions" -and among this group, the sub-group of patient with "ventilators" (ICUs, when you get there... your prognosis is really bad) The data are published each day (on various Twitter accounts).
  16. It's even more "not rocket science"... that the WHO itself... doesn't know what is "herd immunity" for Sars-Cov2 ! ???? "The proportion of the population that must be vaccinated against COVID-19 to begin inducing herd immunity is not known." Difficult to make it clearer... Link : https://www.who.int/news-room/q-a-detail/herd-immunity-lockdowns-and-covid-19 I guess the thai authorities didn't receive the memo (published end of december 2020). Last but not least, after we reach 158 % of the thai population vaccinated (dogs included)... perhaps we will look at Israel (and other countries) and ask them what they think about "herd immunity".... It seems that the plan... doesn't work quite well, against a virus that mutates/recombines very quickly...
  17. Me too. As i wrote before : look at "serious conditions" and "ventilators" patients.... Since end of june (so almost 2 months), the daily increase in % has decelerated, constantly... and now (since a few days) is in negative territory. forget "cases" stats". We all know it's BS. So from the hospitals point of view (real ones, not "hospitels" BS)... the wave is clearly GOING DOWN. It doesn't mean it can't go up again. But the evolution is looking good.
  18. No. I was responding to the idea that "ivermectin = animals = veterinary drug" It's totally misleading. The US FDA is not doing a service to science by saying such grotesque lies. Now if you want to talk about ivermectin AND Covid... that's another issue.... ????
  19. "These people are so dumb" that the WHO has to remind them that : -ivermectin is a drug for HUMANS and it is essential. To the point that it is listed on the "WHO list of essential medecines" Link : https://apps.who.int/iris/rest/bitstreams/1237479/retrieve It is used again the "river blindness river" since 40 years, and saved countless of lives. -furthermore, Satoshi Ōmura, who discovered ivermectin, won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine 2015. Link : https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/medicine/2015/omura/facts/ Tell that to your horses and cows.... ????
  20. That's not quite right. Actually, the "core" political party that organises those rallies, Les Patriotes... started last november. Every saturday since last november... they do a rally in front of the Health Ministry, in Paris. So the resistance movement is much older. The only difference : it's growing up now because of the vaccine mandate (for many professions) and the "health passeport" (passe sanitaire).
  21. Same old, same old. 1 billion doses injected is not equal to 1 billion years. To make a baby you need 1 woman... for 9 months. Not 9 women for 1 month. Furthermore you are passing away fake news... Because : 1= not all the tests regarding toxicity have been performed by Pfizer. -"Genotoxicity/Carcinogenicity : Neither genotoxicity nor carcinogenicity studies were performed." 2 = regarding reproductive toxicity, the tests have been performed... on rats (say that to your wife, she will be happy). "Reproductive and developmental toxicity were investigated in rats in a combined fertility and developmental toxicity study where female rats were intramuscularly administered Comirnaty prior to mating and during gestation" Source : UK regulator : Link : https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/regulatory-approval-of-pfizer-biontech-vaccine-for-covid-19/summary-of-product-characteristics-for-covid-19-vaccine-pfizerbiontech#pharmacological-properties So again, be careful. We need to focus on facts. Not fantasy.
  22. Any update on this "sandbox school" scheme ? Thairath said that "100 schools" are currently trying this program. Link : https://www.thairath.co.th/news/local/2160362 New school year in international schools is supposed to start next week (or so). Do they participate in this program ? And what about normal thai schools ? Last question : the south is "yellow" on the Covid map. Krabi, Koh Samui, Surat Thani etc.... Does it mean that in those areas schools are open, normally, without online classes ?
  23. "Apparently health officials do not know the difference. " Understatement of the decade... This obsession about alcohol is deeply... disturbing. ???? And eventhough this crusade started 20 years ago or so (with Thaksin, remember ?)... did the situation really improve ? Alcohol kills and will always kill more than... Covid. Oops. Sorry. My bad. It's forbidden to tell the obvious in our current world. Anyway. More rules for "tourists". They will enjoy, for sure.
  24. Striking to see that some people still do not know that ivermectin is a medecine... for humans. You know, to fight the river blindness disease... Since 40 years, and it has saved countless of lives... Who says that ? The WHO (not your horse, obviously). Link : https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/onchocerciasis And this is probably why ivermectin is on the "WHO list of essential medecines" Link : https://www.who.int/selection_medicines/committees/expert/20/EML_2015_FINAL_amended_AUG2015.pdf Last point : "For his contributions to the discovery of avermectin and ivermectin, Ōmura received the 2015 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine". So next time, you should talk to your horse, before writing anything too quickly...
  25. Like... the president of Philippines. " Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday approved the easing of coronavirus curbs in the capital region from Aug. 21 to 31, his spokesperson said, even as the country reported its second-highest daily number of COVID-19 infections." Source : https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/philippines-duterte-relax-coronavirus-curbs-capital-region-2021-08-19/ They did all the playbook : curfew, closings, lockdown, vaccines etc. Like Thailand... not much effects. Now the Reality Principle comes to bite them. The Covid party is over (at least for developping countries). Each day... the pressure increases dramatically on the thai society... It's time to release the steam and to end this madness (for rich old western countries).
