It really isn't the number. It's your condition. There are people in their 20s who need to be in nursing homes. My impression is a lot of oldies repatriate when things get really rough (if they can) and many others die earlier than they would have because they don't want to repatriate or can't. Of course others have better personal support systems here than they would back home. There are no guarantees anywhere.

I want to add: It is your conditions and your money.

If you can buy yourself some staff things are much easier. Even without staff. My wife is always giving a lot tip. I always considered her as crazy, for giving a motorbike taxi or normal taxi 500 Baht tip. But if she wants something she gets it within minutes.

If she would like to be carried around in a sedan chair they would do it.

I am sure if you have 5 Million USD on your bank account, you can have a nurse who speaks perfect English and if he need something from the bank the lawyer will tell the bank to come to visit. I doubt it would cost more than 5000 Baht.

    All a question of money.

People who have 5 mil usd do not go to Thailand to live out their retirement  and giving 500 baht tips to taxi drivers ahumm i dont believe you.

What will 70 year olds do if there comes a day and age where there are no longer any third world countries with desperate women?

Aaaaah a post that irks me on so many levels :-)

Well done packing so much negativity in a one liner, bashing the old, bashing Thailand, bashing women, and asserting your own moral superiority!

I believe a balanced society should have both deperate men and women, but somehow western countries seem to have more desperate men than women.

    - "Let's give enough to everyone to not be desperate!"

    - "Good plan. So you will pay for one to two persons to not be desperate, right?"

    - "Umm... well... I barely have enough to pay the mortgage and a holiday per year, so no... <another voice> Let's take it from the rich! Yeah, let's take it from the rich"

I rest serene knowing that the coming of pension age of the baby boom generation will definitively bury freeloaders' dreams.

Has anyone else noticed that in these topics about loving Thailand - the most dedicated and excited posters always seem to find a way to slag off Western women and Western society?
Apparently your happiness is coupled with bitterness.

Yes and most of them always slag of their ex western female partners on forums like this one but never say what they did wrong in said relationship ,like most of the silly old farts and el cheapo english teachers you meet in expat bars who say they never pay for it having just built that house for noi from the sexy man bar .But i dont have a problem with age gaps. And having spent their live savings on the house for noi from the sexy man bar are all complaining about the new visa rules coming in to place soon on certain forums.Yes indeed us young guns still have a lot to learn from those old asia hands.

Call it what you like, I call it exploitation.

AFAIK the locals get the same price/kg for the berries they pick. Most won't bother, because the pay is relatively low when you're living in Finland/Sweden. For Thais is comparatively good salary, since they'll be using it in Thailand after they return. It's just a remote job, nothing evil.

Yes and two years in a row i have read about so called Thai berry pickers being exploited in said countrys on here and also by their respective recruitment agencys in Thailand i still dont understand how such slave labour is still allowed in Europe.

The one common denominator I've found with Thai girls is they are fun to be with, good in bed and all round a nice person. However scratch the surface and you will find that their lives are chaotic, loans, gambling, lying, husband/noyfriend etc. Even worse when they are drunk. I'm quite happy to keep things on a very superficial level for a short time and then that's that. They never change even when you take them out of Thailand. Seen plenty where I have a home in the UK, pushing prams, separated/divorced, no skills to speak of so doing tricks just as they did at home. One may say they are all lo-so but I think there's a fair smattering of hotel receptionists, nurses etc whose skills cannot be utilised in the UK.

I wondered if men feel threaten taking their younger women to their country. I wondered if the relationship would still be the same in the men country, I mean how successful the relationship will be?

In the men country, some women cannot find skills work so they ended up working at the restaurant or factory or being a housekeeping, although they are highly educated in Thailand, their education cannot translate.

As an expert yourself in avoiding questions what degree do you hold in certain fields ?You sound very smug  and how and where did you meet youre husband ?So what makes you an expert on Thai woman working abroad and their skills?

  5. @ Asia 2000 as an ex sailor for 17 years and working with a lot of filipinos according to them it has nothing to do with respect of the elderly but about money concerning pinoys getting married to elderly foreigners thats why so many of them are getting offed there every year by some pinoy ladies families .I have nothing against age gaps but i dont like people spouting nonsense.

I think most men are comfortable about the girls being 30 years younger or more.... However, doubt the girl deep down feels that good about it.

I mean, would you e.g. feel good sleeping with a 55 year old fat, bald, sweaty, half-drunk woman, if you were a 20 year old guy? When I was 20 years old, that was not exactly part of my dreams and fantasies. But maybe times have changed :-)

Turn it around and think about it... Would you enjoy it?

Hate to break your fantasy world but not all 55 yr. old guys are fat, bald or sweaty. Seen just as many fat and sweaty younger guys.

I like young(er) women, but begin to see a lot of obese (fat) sweaty young Thai women in their 20’ies that I would never dream of bringing home, even they are 30-40 years younger than me… bah.gif

By the way I don’t drink when I'm out, still got my hair, and my BMI is 18.5… wink.png
What? You're not dying to bring home a pretty little obese girl with layers and layers of supple pancake tummy folds?

    What are you, gay!?

BMI of 18,5 so youre suffering from anorexia then?

  7. I read a test in a Swedish magazine regarding how many litres of berries the different nationalities averaged picked in one day and the Thais were picking 3 times the amount compared to what the Poles and the other Europeans did! they said that they were used walking all day on the rice fields with bend backs, when you pick fruit whole day you hurt your back after if are tall or not used to it. [/size]

So thats a nice way to circumvent the law so no Insurance claims can be made when said labourers suffer from back injuries,In Europe it is stated how much a manual labourer can carry on his back and courses manual handling are given to employees under pressure of Insurance companys .
I have personally seen employees of macro in Buriram who stack shelves wearing special back supporting belts provided by macro.

I am teaching how to think analytically (well, as much as you can a 6 year old) and to question things. One day when he is older the ability to be able to think logically, to rationalise things properly along with the ability to speak English and Thai fluently will stand him in good stead.

I may get slated for it, but I think raising them as a Luk Krung in Thailand is better in the long term than being raised as a Eurasian in the West. Especially if they choose to settle in Thailand after the age of 30.

Providing they are educated to a Western level in Thailand and finish their studies with a Western qualification (M.A. from the West following a Thai B.A. for example).

They always have the option of living and working in the West, and also of doing so in Thailand where they have a massive advantage over local candidates (and also foreign candidates) if they were raised and educated to B.A. level here, on top of being fluently bilingual, bicultured and having a Western M.A. or PhD as well as work experience in both Thailand and the West.

They might have to tell their Thai colleagues that they are half Vietnamese, in order to not have their tires slashed etc, but besides that they would be in a fantastic position. biggrin.png

Except that jobs in Thailand pay shit compared to the West and you can be jailed for saying not nice things about certain people.

Honestly, ask yourself what it is that you truly like about Thailand and then explain to me why it would be good for your daughter to grow up there...

Total Western salary, plus Thai salary, plus housing, plus schooling.

How is that shit, compared to just the Western salary on its own?

"Honestly, ask yourself what it is that you truly like about Thailand and then explain to me why it would be good for your daughter to grow up there..."

Great schooling, great combination of cultures, a great travel hub, great culture and history, the advantage for them of being both local and Western - which is a massive advantage to them here, much more so than being local and Thai in the West. smile.png

I can not remember how many family members of my ex Thai wife have asked if we would take on their children so they could get an education in my country.I now a lot of half Thai kids in the Thai community where i live and some full Thai kids who grew up here and none of them are interested of returning to the motherland to work  and live.

I know a  few Thai woman who have so called  Thai uni degrees and said degrees are not recouldnized by our educational standards let alone companys the best jobs they could get is stacking shelves in the local supermarket  and one i know used to be a nurse in Thailand is cleaning old peoples bumbs in an old folks home nothing wrong with that of course.

But to get their degrees certified to our standards they need to take integration courses, language courses and this can take up to five years until they speak the language on an exceptable level al funded by nanny state of course and then they have to go to an exam commision to get their degrees certified most of them have failed and the two woman in the above paragraph have just given up triying.

To the Op.. What is the acceptable age difference between a married Thai man and his Mia noi?

Sent from my LG-P970 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Not acceptable in any age. Men do it whether it is acceptable or not because they think they can or the women allow them to do so.

Op ask Miss Kanokrath Booth a former Thai female journalist who had some serious foreign husband issues.

I think you have been reading to much comments on the news section of tv where  pro junta farangs/yellow shirt lovers who know titi about recent Thai history concerning coups, when new elections will be held everything will just be like it was before until a next coup will occur.

Just a big pr stunt by the junta leaders nothing more.

I still can not fathom why foreigners take things for granted who have no right to vote in Thailand from crappy English media outlets in Thailand.

come on, you can't be serious. The junta sucessfully turned the motosai jacket from orange to bright orange. They also broadcast for free the world cup.

And dont forget they asked the bank to provide loan to people who are victims of loan sharks.

mmmh i think you need your shot of happinesswhistling.gif

    i enjoy youre sarcasm.

  12. Every time such a topic is started here you will always have the pro renters vs pro buyers and i am sometimes under the impression that some people are logging in on different profile's stating i used such and such company and found them very good to buy my house or condo just to get your hard earned in their pocket.

Be carefull and use youre wits concerning buying property in Thailand it can be a mine field.

I'm a pro buyer for Thai nationals.

And a pro renter for foreigners.

Condos are wildly over priced. Nobody (foreigner or Thai) should be buying condos in the current market.

Do you think a new build, fully furnished condo built by a reputable name brand firm in Chiang Mai is overpriced at THB 40k per square metre, located inside the ring road in Muang?

The problem i have is using the word reputable name firm because Thailand has very strickt libel and defemation laws so not allowed to name and shame and i find this off putting buying property in the west is very strickly regulated and for the right reasons luckely there are other website's telling horror story's about foreigners getting ripped of by certain cowboys when buying property in Thailand
  13. Why ask here apparently people who used be a chef cook or a video rental shop owner in their respective home country's now own company's in Thailand selling houses and condo's .

Let me ask you op where do such people get or have the necesary expierence concerning Thailands housing market who sell to farang simple they don't just a bunch of cowboys .
