There's nothing to suggest the numbers are wrong. I graphed number of cases/100K people vs number of tests/100K population for all countries. Thailnd's value is right in amongst the other countries. It is not an outlier. Ther's no evidence to suggest increasing testing by 10X would result in 10X more positive cases. The nprecent of cases testing positive is very low for the number of tests done. Ofcourse, more are infected than what we are finding, but I suspect that is the case for mose countires.

I also agree. My local Ampeu has never reported any case. There have been several rumours of alleged cases, all of which have have very quickly subsided as it became obvious that they were false. In my Moo there has not even been a death for any reason for 3 months, in contrast with January when we had 4 funerals in one month.

  2. I have a water leak. I have narrowed it down to one pipe but the pipe is either inside a wall or under a floor. The local plumber's solution is to start one end and cut a gradually lengthening hole until he finds it. I recall, many years ago, a plumber in Scotland using a listening device to pinpoint the leak before cutting into a floor to repair it. He was accurate within one foot.

I have asked around all the plumbing supply shops in Chiang Mai and the replies have varied from incomprehension to total disbelief that such a device exists.  I cannot find any relevant thread on TV nor any device in Lazada. Can any member suggest where I can find anything effective ?

Last week, at a Home Visit in Chiang Mai, the Police asked that the witnessing friend also come to the Immigration Office to sign some document.  No fee requested.

At my initial application police brought a form with them for a neighbour to fill in and sign. One also suggested a Thb500 contribution for fuel for their pickup, but did not press the matter when I pointed out that the Immigration Office was only a longish walk away.

  4. I had something similar on my forehead many years ago. It started like a wart and grew quickly. It was removed in a hospital outpatient department in two mins using a cauterizing tool and local anesthetic.

    It has never returned.

  5. i cycled into PEA office Sanpatong this morning. The security guard would not let me park my bike inside the car park, I had to leave it outside in the street.

i walked into the compound and was met by two men, not in uniform, whom I could not understand, I showed them my bill and indicated that I wanted to pay.

One said "office peet" and the security took me by the arm and pushed me out the gate. All he would say was "Falang pai, gap baan".

I went to a nearby 7Eleven where I paid without trouble.

    Something has gone very wrong.

  6. I do not know where the poster stays, however IT City has a number of shops on the upper floor selling refurbished laptops with a 3 month guarantee. there are also at least 2 shops just west of Chiang Mai gate on the inside of the moat.

  7. Four weeks ago I was upbraided by Paw Luang for not wearing a mask. This last few days I notice workers on his new house extension working maskless. There has been no case of Covid-19 in our tambol at all nor in Chiang Mai province for 2 weeks.

  8. I used SevenSeas just over 3 years ago. They charged a reasonable price and supplied six boxes and a lot of bubble wrap and tape. The staff were helpful, they instructed me to make sure it wat sent in the name of a Thai citizen and clearly marked as Used Household Goods. I also had to supply proof that my wife had lived outside of Thailand for at least 5 years.

My only criticism is that they took about 6 weeks longer than promised. Most of which time spent sitting in a depot in the south of england awaiting shipment

  9. The search function returns nil entries, if there is an existing thread please attach this to it.

A Question for the Medical Experts.

I received a BCG Tuberculosis inoculation in my teens 50+ years ago and about 8 years ago was also inoculated against Pneumonia.

I read that BCG affords some protection against Covid-19, how true is that and will it still be effective ?

Also deaths from Covid-19 seem to occur after the onset of Pneumonia. Will my inoculation help to protect me ?

For the financial requirements, did you use the method of having 400,000THB in a Thai bank account for a period no less than 2 months prior to making the application for extension of stay or the monthly income of 40,000THB and working in Thailand?

Deposit in Bank for two months. I do not understand why they want a full year's details
