    Cut out the middleman

Just send your passport to a friend or relative in the UK.

They can forward it on to Liverpool and then back to you in Thailand

Your only cost will be a bit of postage each way and the 75 quid renewal.

You can do the whole thing online (inc pics) and no docs are required.

I would like further detail on this method.

I can send my Passport to a relative in Glasgow, but I understand that I would need to include a copy of the receipt for the fee. There would then be a 3 week delay between my application and the arrival of my passport, Would this raise suspicion? More information from anybody who has used this method would be very welcome.

I was in same situation as OP, decided to use my old PC from 2011 for my son. This PC hadn't been used for app 2 years so at first the wi-fi dongle wasn't working but after I downloaded all the updates for Win10 it was plug and play (used a LAN cable for the updates).

I got below one, it has both 2.4 & 5 GHZ so fast enough for most users, 199 baht at Lazada

Where did you get it ?

  3. I cannot find the "Birds in my Garden" topic.

I have a bird repeatedly calling from cover near my house near San Pa Tong. I cannot see it but a neighbour assures me that it is a wee black and white bird. Its call is a high pitched "Wheeeeehyooo" repeated at 5 second intervals and it calls in the late afternoon and stops at sunset.

    What is it ?

  4. This concerns a mini laptop, if it is in the wrong forum please redirect.

My wife has a mini Acer laptop which she has not used for at least 2 years.

The operating system is Windows 10 and she has forgotten the opening password. I expect there is a way round this so that we can change the password and bring the device back into use. How do we do it?

Replies please in word of one syllable if possible.

Despite your comments re Global and Home pro both keep them in stock, and yes, they are with the fire extinguishers.

If you prefer to hit a place with100% success rate, then go to the health and safety centre which is almost next door to the Robinsons car park entrance at the bottom of Hang Dong road.

Are you referring to the Robinsons in Central Airport Plaza ?

  6. I am looking to buy a Fire Blanket in Chiangmai. All the posts I can find are at least 6 year out of date. Are there any up to date recommendations.

Big C had some on special offer a few months ago but that has long finished.

Neither HomePro Mae Hia nor Global House had even heard of such a thing and merely directed me to their Fire Extinguishers..

Rather than venturing out and braving traffic jams, gazillions of noisy people and insanely cranked-up loudspeakers blaring out a single song in an eternal loop, the only venue I recommend for myself is at home, watching a couple of good movies at peace and floating my soul (and sins?) away with a few ice-cold bottles of brew chased by a dram or two of a good, peaty single m

Where did you find Talisker in Thailand ?

  8. My house has about 20 LED bulbs of 7,8 or 9 watts. Several have appeared to fail in the 15 months since new. However, I have discovered that the problem is a poor connection. If I tighten the "failed" bulb by a small amount perhaps only 10 degrees it comes back on. I have never had this problem with UK type bayonet fittings. Can the 50 Hz AC cause enough vibration to unscrew the bulb enough to disconnect it ?

  9. Just west of the Hang Dong-San Pa Tong Bypass Road (Rural Road 3035) a continuation of the Canal Road, are a series of deep holes filled with water. One of them has been turned into Grand Canyon Water Park. I am puzzled as what caused them. At first, I thought them to be old abandoned gravel or stone quarries, but their vertical sides seem wrong. The only thing that I can think of is sinkholes caused by mining subsidence, but they are not quite right for that either. Could they be a result of siesmic activity? Northern Thailand has frequent minor earth tremours.

Are there any experts who can explain what caused them ?
