so changing down the gears, applying the hand brake or turning off the engine were all ignored, driving to fast and having no reflexes or even being able to think seems to be a major problem with many road users here, yet the idiot is praised by the news for being an idiot and failing to do what he is paid for, driving safely and making sure his vehicle is road worthy
Well said, I have been teaching my granddaughter how to stop using gears and handbrake. At her official lessons no instructor mentioned it.

I have over the years saved large number of photos in my computer. I now want to transfer them to a memory stick leaving the originals in place on the computer.
At the moment all I can think of is to copy each file individually and drag the copy to the memory stick.
There must an easier and quicker way. Advice needed from an expert please.

Check the number of sockets offered, most thai house have only a few , hence the ubiquitous used of trailing extensions. When I built our new house 3 years ago I specified at least 4 double sockets in each room and 6 in the kitchen. Our electrician was surprised and at first was reluctant to put in so many. He had to have his mouth stopped with gold.

Paranoia has set in !
Wife refuses to buy fresh prawns from any source including our local shop, which used to source its supplies from Samut Sakhon but no longer does. She claims that seafood carries the virus and has been responsible for "many" cases in Chiang mai.
I was always under the belief that a virus needed a living host and would soon die without one.
What is the truth ? Is seafood as safe as I believe it to be ?

The /sound of Music was very americanised. I saw a scene where the family sat down to a meal and used the cutlery in the american fashion, quite differently from the european way. An aristocratic naval naval officer like von Trapp would have insisted on proper etiquette. It jumped out of the screen an hit me in the face and partly spoiled the film for me.

A follow up question: if a vaccinated and thus immune person comes into contact with an infectious person, and only discovers it later, how long should this vaccinated person self-isolate or be quarantined foe ?

I posted a new topic about rain before I was aware of this one, Mods, i suggest you remove mine to here.

Rain
in Chiang Mai
Hurray, At 1830 today it rained moderately for about for 30 mins. The preceding 10 mins had been very windy (nothing compared with an Atlantic gale in the west of Scotland) but enough to cause the usual hour long power cut.
Hurray again, 2300 more rain , this time for 10 mins. and the TMD radar shows the probability of more in about one hours time. The temperature has fallen 5Deg C immediately and I look forward to clean air tomorrow

It appears that the virus will be beaten by the various vaccinations now coming on the market.
I am puzzled by some of the reports, not one mentions the possibility of a vaccinated person passing on an infection. We have seen that an infected person without symptoms may pass on the virus infection to a 2nd party.
A vaccinated person will not contract the disease, but, will he or she after being in contact with another infected person (with or without symptoms) carry the virus and pass it on to an unvaccinated victem?

It is a regular occurrence about 3 times a year. Apparently my address drops out of the database and has to be reset.

It has been equally cool in Sanpatong.
Back in the 1960s my mum bought a musquash jacket, it was very fashionable then but fell out of fashion in the 70s and hung in her wardrobe for the rest of her life. After her death, Iost track of it and assumed that it had gone to the Oxfam shop.
Yesetrday it reappeared on my youngest sister-in-law's back.

Village Paw Luang has just announced that ALL alcohol sales are banned for January, subject to a Thb 100000 fine and/or 2 years imprisonment !
-
My thanks to Trujilio/ It appears that Paw Luang is embellishing the facts, he has previous history of this.
-
Village Paw Luang made a long announcement at 1830 this evening containing all the above.

I am puzzled as to the latest restrictions, the Rumour Mill is now alive with conflicting news.
Are all bars and restaurants now closed for 2 weeks ?
Has wearing a face covering when outside the house become compulsory ?
Is there a Curfew ?
Have there been over 100 new infections with several deaths in Chiang mai in the last few days ?
I find many exaggerations.

Go to San Pakhoi market. go through the vegetable section, step up a level and on left hand wall is a muslim butcher. She speaks excellent English and should be able to help.

The silver tanked wideline Featherbed Norton was a beautiful machine. It went round corners as if on rails. If only we could have an OHC single with updated electrics, fuel injection and hydraulic brakes with a disc at the front and an oil tight engine. An updated International maybe !
Indian engineers have worked wonders with the RE, all it needs now is an overhead cam.

There are about 30 folders in the "pictures" memory section of Win7. Some folders contain only 1 image, most have several images all relating to each other.
