  1. I have a friend who has a large chopper - but never braggs about it ...
  2. Thai law doesn't allow any modifications to any vehicle once it has left the factory ... However if you can get a Thai doctor to give you a disabled certificate stating you can only drive a 3 wheel scooter, then you can get your vehicle legally modified and can legally drive it on the roads, and when it's 5 years old, accompanied by the doctor's certificate, it can pass a DOT test and so can be then taxed ... Hope this helps ....
  3. gawd, who the heck drives Harley's ? The only bloke i know who likes them is Poppa Al - That's good enough for me ...
  4. 33m2 for the rest of your life ? Gawd - It's hardly livin' the dream" ...
  5. Agree both the GPX DZ3 and the Zontes 368G look cracking - be interesting to see some long term reliability comments and resale values (know locally the "poppa Al price" ) ..
  6. Especially when he already got a K Bank account ..... Although i've just learnt (PM - Thanks) is the reason BKK bank is pushed is that they will transfer money in and out immediately, whereas with K bank, it has to be done next day and there is fear the customer will withdraw the 800k and do a runner ! - If that's true, i can understand why ...
  7. i'd be guessing, but at age 70 - he's above the max age for their insurance ?
  8. Well said ! Too many clever derks on here, that's for sure .... "phone every agent in Pattaya" almost as bad as "why bother coming on the forum, when everything is available on Google" ..
  9. Thanks for the reply - yes has a (K Bank) bank account, wanting to know if anyone does extension with K Bank account, rather than Bangkok Bank ... The mobile phone was started several years back and his ex girlfriend registered it in her name - how would that work ... ?
  10. i'm asking for a friend who's not computer literate and would please ask you only to post if you know the answer... My pal has been living in pattaya for several years (Brit, aged 70) ... He has always used the 800k in the bank method for his retirement extension, doing it himself at Soi 5 immigration ... Over the last 12 months he has had a few health problems and has spent a fair chunk of the 800k and extension time is round the corner (no other money and not a huge amount of monthly income)... He now needs to use an agent to assist him ..... People that are using an agent, and have done extensions in the last few months - can you tell me what he will need ? heard rumours that need proof of mobile phone in his name ? and a Bangkok bank account needed with loads of hoops to jump through (he only had a K Bank account, would that suffice) ? what price did you pay, what agent did you loose and what was actually involved ? Thanks in advance
  11. the main problem for me is the depreciation and how hard they are to sell second hand unless you virtually give tham away ....
  12. the main problem about selling them is that they are made in China and traditionally chineese made bikes lose their shirt .... A couple of weeks back, a pal called round for some advice - he's in the market for A Honda ADV 350 and had been to see the Zontes 368G and wanted my advice before he pulled the trigger ... My advice was "whenever you're thinking of buying any new vehicle - you need to find where the fire escape is" (ie, you need to know what consequences you will be lookiing at if you need to bail out and sell the thing quickly).... i told him to stick with the Honda - when he wants out, easy to sell without eyewatering depreciation ....
  13. you need 35 years - so 2 to "top up" - you can go back up to 6 years - if you ring the future pensions people, they will tell you what years represent the best vlaue and they will tell you how to pay ... it's a good idea to set up a "Gateway" account, then you can see what years you have paid and your actual forecast - failing that ring them - i found them very helpful and got through quickly .... once i transferred the "top up" money, it took about 2 months for it to be added to my account ...
  14. Got it ! - now you know why i'm renting a 25m2 roon in Nurun Condo ... lol
  15. Got it ! - now you know why i'm renting a 25m2 roon in Nurun Condo ... lol

  18. Not long now until i phone the pension people to "claim" my pension .... Other posts i've read say the UK government use a third party company, who transfer Thai Baht to your Thai Bank account each month.... My question: is there an option to have the money sent to my Thai account each month in GBP ? - My Bank's "TT Rate" looks better than the rates i understand the agency uses (today, K Bank TT rate is 44.40) TIA ....
  19. me - some days i sits and thinks - other days i jhust sits ...
  20. thank you for that link - very useful .... But doesn't answer the 2nd part of my post: "Also, when the pension payment is paid into your Thai Bank Account - Do you receive it in GBP, and the bank then converts it into Thai Baht - or do they send it in Thai Baht ? - if the latter is the case - what exchange rate do they use compared to the Thai Bank's TT rate ? " Any ideas ?
  21. Couple of questions to all of you guys that have started claiming your UK pension in the last 12 months Did you just ring the International Pension Centre, and give them a few security questions and that was enough for them to start paying you - or did you need to complete a form and send it off to them with your birth certificate as proof of ID ? Also, when the pension payment is paid into your Thai Bank Account - Do you receive it in GBP, and the bank then converts it into Thai Baht - or do they send it in Thai Baht ? - if the latter is the case - what exchange rate do they use compared to the Thai Bank's TT rate ? TIA ..
  22. i used these guys last year - couldn't fault them - took 1 month from signing the form to having the new passport in my hand ...
