  1. 3,700 baht is lot of money for tourists plus the first day hotel quarantine. If no insurance company can cover 20k, then why did the government reduce it in the first place?
  2. Different DHL office will quote different prices (from my experience), go to the one near Airport Plaza. There are two DHL offices in that area, go for the DHL express international. They will weigh the package and give you a price. 600 is not expensive. Thailand Post quoted me 1500-2000 baht for express service which is even higher. Whereas DHL quoted me 800-900 baht for my package so it was definitely cheaper and arrived within a few working days.
  3. It depends on your citizenship. If you are a USA citizen, you can get it notarized by the consular section of the US Consulate-General in Chiang Mai. If not, then try this place in the link below https://chiangmainotarialservices.com/บริการของเรา/ For me, I used DHL express just before the Airport Plaza. Their service was quicker and less costly than Thailand Post. Don't use Thailand Post because they are very slow and costly for international delivery. Thailand Post is mainly for local delivery.
  4. Level 3 at one school is not the same as level 3 at another school because they all have different teaching materials. You cannot get an education visa inside Thailand, so if you come to Thailand on exempt/TR , you will have to go out of Thailand again and get it at an embassy. That means you would need to apply for Thailand Pass twice. Visit our school with your passport and 12 passport photos. Complete the visa application forms from the Ministry of Education. Wait for 2-4 weeks for the approval letter from the Ministry of Education. Once ready, collect the approval letter from our school. Make a trip to a Thai embassy or consulate outside Thailand to apply for the Non-Immigrant ED Visa. Once approved, come back to Thailand and bring your passport to our school within the first 7 days. So it's better to apply for your education visa before entering Thailand.
  5. There was a news article by Anutin (can't remember which one because I read so many) that those who tested positive must be quarantine at a private or state hospital. The Covid insurance required (for Thailand Pass) will cover the costs partially or fully (not sure). Tourists must be treated at a hospital. There is no home or hotel quarantine because nobody will monitor/treat you at a hotel or home.
  6. If you don't trust forums, then why are you here?
  7. If you look carefully at that page, you can email or call them. Then you can come in with an education visa if you decide to take Thai classes.
  8. If you are studying Thai , you might want to consider this school. https://dukelanguage.com/student-visa-thailand/#top The principal there is funny and speaks perfect English. The only con is that their fees are not inexpensive. They will be able to answer all your education visa questions. Just tell immigration that you are changing schools because they have better curriculum and teachers. I wish I had studied at that school instead of the dreadful YMCA.
  9. The fifth day of self-test is ridiculous and unnecessary. The first day of PCR-test should be changed to a quick antigen test at the airport without any quarantine. 20,000 USD insurance? That should be reduced to 10,000 USD.
  10. Not only that. If you tested positive, you're going to a hospital until the virus is expelled from your body.
  11. What were you studying anyway? If you were studying Thai, there are different levels.
  12. This self-test on 5th day is unnecessary, how can you expect tourists to do this reliably? The antigen test should be done on the first day and there shouldn't even be one day of quarantine. The insurance reduction is a welcome move but how much do we have to pay to get usd 20k insurance to cover 30 days?
  13. I don't read Wikipedia, it sometimes have full of errors. Anyone can edit it, there are sometimes edit wars when two people don't agree with each other.
  14. Sorry, what is the advantage of ABS versus conventional Scoopy brakes? I've never tried one.
  15. I don't know why Thailand continue to mislead tourists that it is quarantine free when it's actually 1 to 2 days of quarantine and an expensive Covid insurance.
  16. I heard you can get it from Nakornping hospital, not sure about the latest cost.
  17. So what are the most important improvement of this new model over last year's model?
  18. The thing with PCX is how do you put groceries and stuff on it? Never mind I just watched the video, it seems to have a compartment.
  19. That's the problem, people from western countries think that the traffic rules in their country apply to Thailand which is not. Zebra crossing and cyclists lane (there is no cyclists lane) have different rules in Thailand. You must give way to them and not the other way around. I remember seeing one farang who was riding his bicycle slowly on the lane and even cross traffic lights when it is red. An impatient Thai motorcyclist horned at him but he didn't know that he was wrong. He still think he has the right of way.
  20. I often see foreigners riding their bicycle in the middle of the emergency lane without a care in the world, even blocking fast moving motorbikes. They think that all other vehicles must give way to them (like in Europe) which is the wrong thinking. Zebra crossing and bicycle riding causes death due to the ignorance of foreigners that the rules in Thailand is different from the rules in western countries.
  21. Level 4? So are we going to have more requirements for the Thailand Pass again, maybe 7 days quarantine for fully vaccinated? Thailand should learn from other countries like Australia where we have to live with the virus.
  22. Now that there's no more time constraint, it is advisable to setup a Transferwise account in just something like this happens again or you need to transfer money to Thailand from the USA in the future.
