  1. This'll stop em'. It's a three D image on a road in Iceland. https://mymodernmet.com/wp/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/3d-zebra-crossing-thumbnail.jpg
  2. The government/EGAT/PEA are offering 20,000 Baht/year to land owners to have a wind turbine built on their land around where I live. Personally I'm not interested because of noise and access rights etc.
  3. What a load of missguided rubish. Looking for the definition of sport google gives this:- noun An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. "team sports such as baseball and soccer"
  4. You seem very suspicious. At his age it's quite likely that he has some inheritances plus sales of australian land and housing assets. After reading this sad, detail-less story, i am mindful that one should never risk more than you can afford to loose.
  5. Fond memories of bikes. Mens bikes had a crossbar, that's the horizontal tube which connects between the saddle and the handlebar stems, but women had a dropped bar to allow for modesty when mounting. It meant they didn't show off their dirty underwear by swinging their leg over the saddle. That crossbar was very useful for carrying girls riding sideways.
  6. Yes I agree. It should take a leaf from the American proverb. "For the people, of the people and by the people" In Thailand it is. For the people, of the people and buy the people.
  7. Audimed in Bangkok (Tetsabansongkro Road, Chatuchak) has top of the range hearing aids and will fit you up with whatever you need. I have needed their help occasionally and find them friendly and helpful and fluent in English.
  8. That's easy. Fix the pavement (sidewalk) so that crazed Americans can't fall into holes and drains.
  9. The area I walked along is a canal walkway Bangkok’s Green Commute Plan Expands with Landmark Canal Walkway Who cares about where the area is. It is still a canal walkway and as you may have noticed, that is what the original post is about. Just as a point of interest. Many people live in small community houses that front onto the walkway. Apparently they used to live in floating or stilted shanty houses along the canal. As others have said. But for the motor cyclists it is a very pleasant area.
  10. They already do use it. I was nearly bowled over by one a few months ago walking from Thetsaban Songkhro road to Wat Samian Nari. Everyone on two wheels with an engine uses it.
  11. You're probably right. They're all from Chinese stock as are many others in government.
  12. Absolutely. He has an engineering degree and is sadly not going to be building this casino complex. Google says:- "Anutin is heir to a major construction company fortune. His family's company, Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction PCL, built several government mega-projects such as Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. An engineer, Anutin served as president of Sino-Thai."
  13. Without a doubt. Her older relatives are in control. However a muppet she is not:- From Mr. & Mrs. Google "Paetongtarn Shinawatra holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Chulalongkorn University and a Master of Science degree in international hotel management from the University of Surrey." She, and others, is proof, in my opinion, that extremely rich people should be barred from holding political office. Success in business does not equate with success in organising a country for the benefit of the people who pay them.
  14. How is that dumb? If you were working for the local government and saw an opportunity to make 5k Baht out of every speed bump, I'm sure you'd put in as many as you could.
  15. That's what has been created already. Motor cyclists go off road to get round them
  16. The lies and deceitfulness of politicians never ceases to amaze me.
  17. That's a misconception if ever I read one. People who got into the cannabis business made lots of money over the few years of legality. They may very well have invested heavily in their legal drug scheme but over time that would have yielded enough to start their next business which may be clinical cannabis or selling nuts and bolts. Who knows
  18. Plus TV + Battery charging + fans + water pumps I do all those and more with an 8kW inverter. Total cost of bits in the order of 130,000 Baht and that's it for DIY. If a company does the supply and install, then the total could well be double.
  19. Hey. Wearing sunglasses is cool. But totally unnecessary.
  20. Surface water is rainwater that has soaked into the ground picking up all sorts of unmentionable rubbish on the way. As you know, rainwater is inherently softer than a babies rear end and needs only minimal softening. So it is not unreasonable that the resin needs only occasional rejuvenation. Depth of my surface water well is 5.5 Metres which is enough for most of the year. Any shortfall is made up from the local lake filtered and pumped from a government pump house which is just down the road from my house. Your description of the Home Pro filter tank sounds like the sort I use. I have two with carbon filter media and one with resin. Non of them are automatic. This is a very interesting situation. How far away are these wells from your point of use? Rather than use the borehole water which will not be so good from a hardness point of view, could you not route some of your underground stream water to your filter/pump house? (I am making quite a few assumptions here.) Point about the 10% improvement figure I mentioned. This is a 10% reduction in hardness. This translates into something like:- If you needed 100 bars of Imperial Leather per month without the resin filter the you would need only 90 bars of same when using resin filter. This 10% figure comes from a water supply equipment company here in Buriram. Have you had your borehole water tested?
  21. For clarification. The brine is dumped onto the lawn and what passes as flower beds. The grass fails to turn a funny colour and other plants seem to be unaffected. I've had no feedback from the ground dwelling insects. It should be noted that the amount of brine is about 100 Litres. When the brine is dumped the solution gets weakened by the fresh water used to flush the brine after it's rejuvenation task has been completed. Public sewer? There is no such thing as a public sewer where I am. Everyone around here has a septic tank.
  22. I've never heard of salt softeners before. I use a resin ion exchange softener. My water source used to be from a bore hole but it was way too hard even after the softener filter. Apparently, the best you can expect from a resin softener is a 10% improvement. My hard water was causing serious plumbing problems so I reverted to my surface water well for all my needs. The surface water is soft from source so the softener makes it super soft and saves a fortune in soap. The resin softener does need to be rejuvenated occasionally (about every 18 months or more) with a brine solution but there seems to be no ill effects caused by the dumped brine.
