  1. And before I get posts saying why don't I go and look, asking on here means that lots of other people (including me) wont waste a trip to the market if the answer is no but will encourage people to go if the answer is yes. I thought that the whole point of Thai Visa (I prefer the old name) is to make life easier for expats and others.

Interesting differences in provinces and population demographics.

Last weekend we went to see Mission Impossible - this is the first time I'm aware (we've lived in Chanthaburi since 2011) there has a been a screening of a movie in English, with Thai subtitles.

Hardly economical - just seven in the theatre - me and six Thais.

The MI movies is still showing, but it appears to have been just the first week they had an English version in one of the theatres..

We go to movies often, and there hasn't been a movie with English subtitles either.

    Such is life.

I haven't been to the cinema in 20 years and wont until they offer English subtitles.

OP was talking about bars. I can't remember ever being offered a menu at a pub in the UK

I was thinking that. There is a big difference between walking into a Restaurant that also serves beer and a Bar that also does food.

    Speaking of menus ...

Harga's House of Ribs is an eatery in Ankh-Morpork run by Sham Harga.

Death worked there as a cook for a while.

To see what's on the menu, all you need to do is look at Harga's vest.

The most popular dish is "All-You-Can-Gobble-For-A-Dollar".

    (c) Terry Pratchett, Discworld!

    QED!

    I'd forgotten that. Thanks Crossy

  5. My father worked in a brewery. Every Friday he went to the tasting room with the Brewer and had a couple of pints. He said it was the best tasting Bitter he had had for years.

He moaned that it was never the same in pubs. Kept in the wrong conditions  and they didn't clean the pipes often enough.

I'd like to thank all the Thais who ride on sidewalks and go wrong way all the time for likely saving my life...after surviving in Thailand i never ever ever cross a street or make a turn or anything similar without looking both ways 3 times...came in handy a few times in usa where running red lights and stop signs is a daily occurrence.  Thailand, if you survive, prepares you well for other countries.

I always thought I was a better driver back in the UK after driving here. Much more aware of traffic around me.
