Double check your passport after getting the Visa's etc transferred. When I did mine 4 years ago they changed my Non O to OA by mistake.

If they're going to relax the liquor laws, I hope they increase enforcement and penalties for drunk driving.
Too often farangs that are too drunk to walk, get on their bike and drive away. That needs to be stopped.
I think you might find that many more Thai's drive drunk than farangs. I agree with you about enforcement, but then the RTP don't seem to enforce any traffic laws.

When I did my first renewal after the US Embassy quit providing the monthly income letter, Pattaya Immigration would not accept my certified bank statements. Instead, as mentioned, they wanted a letter from my bank listing the foreign source deposits to my account for the past 12 months (I use Bangkok Bank, so they were all coded FTT on my statements, which the bank branch used to prepare the letter). The listing showed I had met the requirement for transferring at least 65k baht per month into my account.
For all my subsequent renewals, I have used the bank letter listing the FTT deposits (which is in addition to the one from the bank verifying the account that is required by Immigration for both 800k in bank or 65k monthly income).
As I understand it, the bank staff could prepare the letter from my passbook provided it has been kept up to date. Since I do not regularly update my passbook, the bank branch needs my account statements to prepare the letter. I went yesterday to Bangkok Bank's customer service counter at the Lotus on Sukhumvit Road and ordered the bank statements for the past 12 months - the fee was 200 baht (if for more than 6 months, they have to order them from the main office in Bangkok which takes at least 5 business days to arrive). Next Monday, I will go back and get them to prepare bank letters and do my renewal on Tuesday (Pattaya Immigration wants the account verifying letter to be on the day of application or the day before if renewing early before the banks open).
Went to Bangkok Bank (Thepprasit) today as it opened. Got served at 1010. Picked up the 12 months statement (ordered last Tuesday) and asked for the letter for Immigration. All done and dusted by 1020. Excellent service. Last year went to Bangkok Bank in Central Festival (Beach Road) which is the branch that actually holds my account. Took 4 trips and and I vowed never to use that branch again.
So at about 2 o'clock off to Jomtien, I just hope they can be as efficient as The bank this morning.

Income. I am due to pick up the years statement tomorrow. It's just the number of copies of passport and bank book etc and I read somewhere about rental agreement. This will be my 17th Extension and it seems that every year I have to go and get something else copied. At least now you dont have to go next door,or you didn't last year.

Anybody have the latest information on an extension. I think I have everything covered but I just want to make sure
On a slightly different note I went to Pattaya Immigration this morning to pick up a couple of TM 7 forms. It seems like absolute chaos.

I always buy my Beef Liver in Friendship. Except today , they didn't have any.
I must admit I would prefer Lambs Liver but I have never found that in Pattaya. So does anybody know where I can buy Beef Liver
I tried searching for it but the websites for food in Pattaya are useless. Tesco is offline and places like Foodland and Foodmart don't seem to want you to search., and if they are good they don't sell it.
I was looking forward to having Liver and Onions tomorrow.

Don't they have one already, that ugly thing near Walking Street, next to the car park?
I always see people taking pics on the beach with the 'Pattaya' sign in the background, so why another one at the beach?
While we're on topic, what happened to that shrine near Soi 6?
Still there, it was just moved a few yards.

Well, it is said that Doctors bury their mistakes.

I live on Soi 10 and this morning just before 10am I went to Bangkok Bank (Thepprasit Branch). On arrival there was a crowd of people waiting so I thought blow this I'm going home for breakfast and come back later.
Therein lies the problem To do the u turn I had to go up to Outlet Mail . I knew that you cannot turn into Soi 10 from Thepprasit coming from Sukhumvit so I went to turn into Soi 8. That was blocked off as well. It meant carrying on to Kaan and doing a u turn there. As most people here know just after 10 this morning we were hit by a very short but extremely heavy rainstorm just as I was stationary to do the u turn. I have been through many storms here but this one was the worst I can remember for a long time. I wouldn't have minded but I was on my motorbike at the time.
Just as a bit of info the normal distance to the bank and back is roughly 2k, Today 3.7K

In the interview at the beginning of these post he says something that makes a lot of sense. Read the last paragraph and especially the last sentence.

As soon as I read it I thought "6 to 1, 1/2 doz to the other".

Meanwhile on Thepprasit Road, Pattaya they are building what looks like a small wall in the middle of the road. I saw and elderly Thai lady having problems stepping over it. Wheel chair uses would have no chance. They would have to go to a break in the "wall" which could be over hundred meters or more.

Any up to date info on this.
I am a bit late in applying for this years extension so I don't have much time to waste. I have always done it before by going into my nearest branch and ordering a years statement (200 Baht and 7 days wait.) When I checked this time on their website it says 6 months. So it looks like I'll be standing by the door when the bank opens on Monday (just hope it's not raining).

As I said it was a long time ago. I had a holiday chalet in West Wales and the Oyster Farm was on the river leading to Milford Haven. It all closed down when they had that massive oil split at Milford Haven.
It wasn't the oil spill that closed it down it was the councils bureaucracy afterwards. The council insisted that it's Health Inspector had to come out and check every order, which normally meant a delay in getting the oysters to the London hotels that ordered them.
We turned up one day to find the owner decorating he said it was too much hassle now and was going into holiday lets instead.
Thanks for the replies I will go to Naklua tomorrow.

I live in Pattaya and want to buy some fresh oysters. I know I can go to my local markets and buy tubs of oysters (100 Baht) and a few restaurants which sell them on a half shell.
Back in the UK I used to buy fresh water oysters (3 pound a dozen, long time ago). I wasn't very good at shucking them so I used to freeze them. The one good thing about freezing them is that when they defrost they open up automatically and they feel and taste exactly the same as a fresh one.
There are plenty of markets in Pattaya that I have never been to and I wondered if anyone knew one that sold oysters in their shell.
If anyone thinks that this would be better in Pattaya forum feel free to move it. Thank you.

I bought one years ago but it finally stooped working. So I bought another but I made a mistake , I bought a Surge Protector instead.
So after a few power cuts a decided to replace it with an UPS. I would like some advice on what to look for as I can't remember from the first one I bought. I am looking for the cheapest but it must be good enough, so what figures am I looking at.
I don't understand what it all means I just want to know the minimum figures I would need . At the moment I have a PC, TV ,monitor , router, printer and DVD player plugged in.

What's needed is a low powered vehicle (electric bike perhaps) to replace the motorbike. People like the fact that they don't have to rely on public transport especially if a short journey (like around town).
When they introduced mopeds to Britain years ago they were restricted to under 50cc and you could ride them on a car license.

I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles and never once had a single vehicle accident.

Weeeell, as I have posted, I have taken care of a few PC's for folk with results they and I were happy with.
Done mainly with easy fixes because the owners never did the fundamentals.
Nobody here can say my fixes didn't work because they did.....????
Many years ago I gave a PC problem to a shop, on starting the thing up I find stuff missing, so for years I have been fooling around finding fixes, it has been good fun...................????
Ok Where do you live?

Help. My PC is running slow. The trouble is I am absolutely useless at trying to follow instructions. So often I read "do this or do that" and i look at thee screen and have no idea what they mean.
I started to browse different sites and read that this program will do this or that. But what I really need to be told is there one program that even a 4 year old could follow. Like hit button "B" and after that everything is automatic.. I know that's a lot to ask for.
I know there are some computer experts out there. So what I'm asking for is any recommendations and advice.
Thank you

I drove an ambulance in the 70s. We were told that we could drive through Red Lights, go the wrong way up a One Way Street etc, but any accident would be your fault and you would be charged.

Retirement Visa Extension. Up to date info

Update: Went to Immigration yesterday. After a relatively short wait I sat down next to the lady . She went through my paperwork and then told me that I was a form missing. New this year it's a summary of Foreign Transfers over the last year. (Last year they just went through the years statement highlighting the 12 payments).
This year they obviously lost the ability to do that so they need a summary from the bank. She said go to your bank get it and come straight back to see me. So of I went to Thepprasit, only to be told that that summary can only be done at your home branch. So back on the bike to Central Beach Road. Joined the queue I was no 79 and the screen shows no 65. Started to get concerned about the time.
After 30 min or so I got to the desk and explained what I wanted . No problem 100 Baht please, and come back in 30 minutes. As it was 4 o'clock I realized that I couldn't get back to Jomtien by closing time so when I picked the form up I went for a drink instead.
This morning 8.30 got to Immigration saw the same lady I saw yesterday, in and out in 10 minutes.
Although the powers that be keep changing the rules (which like most people I find very annoying) the staff I dealt with at Immigration were excellent, couldn't fault them. So to them I say thank you. See you tomorrow after 2 o'clock.
