    I can do it on the phone easy enough via the VPN app, but I don't know how to direct the smart tv to use the same VPN? currently using 3BB and no android TV box, I usually cast to TV using VPN

    Your phone has gps so yes googlemaps knows where you are, often see it being used by taxis and taxi bikes. If you go into your googlemaps profile, then select Timeline you'll have your location history there and trips
