  1. Where in Chiang Mai have used an AMEX card? So far Thai Smile, Bangkok Airways, Super Sprouts are just a few of the companies that did not accept an AMEX. I have only used my AMEX with foreign airlines and Agoda.
  2. I did and it still got declined multiple times. Part of the time is that Thai Banks do not have section to put in a billing address connected to the card. For a US based Credit Card transaction are verified by matching the cardholder name, card expiration date, security code and billing address. Back in early 2022 MOFA(Ministry of Foreign Affairs) was using K-Bank to accept payments for an E-Visa. A representative at my bank suggested I try a debit card to complete the E-Visa transaction. Also, like most things in Thailand AMEX is not accepted. So the only options in my application was to use a VIsa credit or a Visa Debit Card. The Visa Debit Card worked.
  3. Had the same problem when I applied for an OA in 2022. Called the bank and did all the notifications. In the end I used a debit card for the Visa Application fee. The issue was K Bank because there was no place on the payment input screen to put in my US Billing address. Without a verified billing address the transaction could not go through. A debit card payment did not need a billing address.
  4. “The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality”. Dante Aligheri Of course one has to believe in hell or heaven for this quote to have any meaning. Like many things in LOS things have little meaning except to maintain the “tourism” gravy train to keep chugging along.
  5. I have read anywhere between 25,000 to 30,000 are in Israel. These numbers have been published by the Thai Government. Many are or were working on Israeli farms. Also, I know a lot of Filipinos are in Israel as well. If I was a Hamas commander(of course i am not) I would order the immediate release of all non-Israeli hostages.
  6. RIP. I am not pro Israel or Palestine but Al Jazeera is calling this attack “The Gaza Israel War”. Some on the Palestinian side are calling this a “Military Operation”. Other media outlets are calling it the :”Hamas Israel War. Innocent civilians from many parts of the world have been killed and some have been taken hostage so this might be a new definition of a military operation. The video of the civilian women being dragged into and out the SUV was hard to watch. Her hands were bound behind her back and the “soldier” was dragging her by the hair. This might last a while and it will get bloodier. If the airspace into Tel Aviv is closed then it will be difficult to get so many out in a timely manner. At best 200 to 300 at a time can be evacuated per aircraft. How many large transport aircraft does the RTAF have? The Thai Government might have to commander a few Thai Airways B777 into service. I doubt any of the Thai Airways A380’s are in airworthy condition?
  7. Was at Nana 4 Hooters a few months ago. As usual unimpressive(still looking for actual “hooters”). Service was bad, food mediocre and had a choice of Chang on draft. I do recall once many years ago when a Filipina was actually working at this location and the service was good. The Filipina actually knew what customer service was and she actually had “hooters”.
  8. Been watching Al Jazeera for the last couple of hours and I know what side they are on. Some of the esteemed guests on AJ are saying "Israel had it coming, Israel deserves it". I also heard one of their anchors say "Hamas Military operation into Israel". This was as when of the video of an Israel women was dragged in and of of an SUV at gun point. I am expecting a cheering squad to appear on air in support of "Hamas Military Operation" any moment. I just checked Russia Today and they are clearly on the side of Hamas. This could go on for a while. Does Gaza now become a flat piece of land by next week?
  9. I think you are right: 1) Free to come and come 2) Just need $$$ 3) When in public “yes, she is my girlfriend”.
  10. “Freelance, prostitute, girlfriend”? I have never heard those three words used at the same time to describe one person.
  11. Yes, That is why I had to sign a waiver to allow the pension providers to verify my income to the bank.
  12. 1) It took my bank three days to verify my income from Sacramento Ca after I emailed them a signed waiver and consent form for the retirement pension agency to respond to the bank. The only question the pension agency had to answer was this: “Does this person make the income he has stated?”. A simple letter with the verification and a signature was emailed to the bank. 2) A consular officer at a US Embassy is not any “Tom, Dick or Harriet”. These fully vetted employees of the US State Department who hold and maintain at least a Secret level or higher security clearance.
  13. The article did not mention whether or nor the person was HIV undetectable. If the persons HIV status was not relevant then why was it even mentioned in the article?
  14. I know that. An affidavit is just a sworn declaration that is not verified. I am talking about verifying income. If a crooked American bank can verify my income from the state of California and pre approve a $40,000 auto loan then the US State Department through an embassy/consulate cannot or will not? This is my main point about this issue when it comes the US Embassy/Consulate in Thailand.
  15. HIV patient has a threesome with 2 strangers? Is their HIV/AIDS or even sex education in LOS?
  16. Wait a minute. I have a pension from the state of California. I just had my pension verified by a bank in Texas because I have applied for an auto loan because I am going back to the US in late 2023. If a bank can verify my pension income ( I signed a waiver and consented to the pension agency to confirm my income to the bank) then an agency of the US Government cannot or will not? In this day and age verifying an income is not difficult and can be done in days. Yes, my pension is much greater than 65,000 baht per month.
  17. Spent a year in Afghanistan and in Iraq so implementing security protocols to deal with IED's and Suicide Bomber attacks is something I have been trained for. But this Bangkok and I don't believe similar protocols can be implemented. Also, it is not "a simple search". Simple searches are rarely effective.
  18. Only the owners of the malls in Thailand could answer this. I know the mall operators in the US would never do bag searches in the US.
  19. 1) Actual physical searches of people and bags (time consuming) 2) X-ray scanners of bags and people (very expensive). Ever wonder why these types of equipment are mostly at airports and in government buildings? Have done both on Government funded contracts. Doubt a for profit company that operates shopping malls would be eager to take on such expensive projects. Also, those scanners at the malls that beep are mostly useless. The same goes for the "Garrett" hand held scanners.
  20. "And"? I have some experience in security matters and dealing with active shooter incidents. What about you?
  21. I did not say “do nothing at all”. I said the cost would be a major impediment for any company to consider. No security screening system is 100-%.
  22. How many scanners and how many additional trained, qualified and competent security officers would each mall have to hire? Even the TSA misses firearms , grenades and even explosives on a frequent basis.
  23. This is a 9mm blank round. The brass casing is the same as an actual round. The only thing missing is the actual projectile that impacts the target(like a human body). I have over 35 years of experience with small arms and I do not know what the Chief is talking about. The grainy image of the shooter looks like he was carrying a Glock? A BB gun cannot be loaded with an actual blank round. A blank round is actually a live round that is packed with a gun powder and the front end is crimped tight.
