  1. just increase the cost of all extensions, lots of people are paying 12,000thb+ for their extensions anyway, so 3-5,000thb would not be out of line a 90days visa exempt entry would put Thailand in the same ball game as others in Asia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan
  2. its a bigger job than just getting a translation and registering at amphur, of the UK marriage cert, needs to be apostille' stamped and also stamped at the Thai embassy in London
  3. as others have posted a multi entry non immigrant 'wife' visa would give you a 90day permission to stay stamp on each arrive during the validity of the visa every entry into Thailand ( tourist visa, visa exempt, or a non immigrant visa) other than a re-entry permit entry allows you to obtain a 60 day visit Thai wife extension at local immigration office 1,900thb wife has to be with you. once in Thailand on a non immigrant visa you can obtain a 1 year visit Thai wife extension again 1,900thb, but as you married outside Thailand you will need to jump through lots of hoops to have your marriage accepted and registered in Thailand, these hoops need to be done in The UK ie translated, legalized with apostille' stamp. sent to Thai embassy etc.
  4. visas are normally obtained outside of Thailand. once married on any visa or visa exempt entry he can obtain a one off 60 day visit Thai wife extension at local immigration office. where was he married, more hoops to jump through if not married in Thailand
  5. would you not do the same, in fact would we all do the same in the same circumstances, prevented by others to do the job he was elected to do
  6. i am staying at the government complex in the centara, and have driven from there to central a couple of times over the weekend, so if that's the pink line, i saw a train using it yesterday, there seems to be construction work at the stations, between central and the complex, and the traffic is a mess, with parts of the road closed off.
  7. yes he/she is correct, check the date on your last extension, it will expire on the same date as your passport
  8. 1/ no 2/ no set time, so can do in/out same day 3/multi entry non imm 'O' visas can only be applied for outside of Thailand just before the expiry date of the visa do a fresh border bounce for a fresh 90 days
  9. the yearly extension would be dated from the date of application not from when you get the stamp in your passport, its always from the date of application when changing from one type of extension to another, married to retirement of vice versa
  10. i have had system fitted by the guy in the car park of big lotus's sukumvit road, always makes a neat job, also for car cams
  11. don't need a return ticket, just a flight out, a throwaway or a refundable ticket, or a rent a ticket
  12. i think that some people forgot to bring mum, so they use an agent as a replacement, my advise is keep away from agents for any immigration requirements
  13. 1st car at 17 in 1972, Austin A40 farina i would guess a 1960 model 1964 B reg BRG Austin mini 850cc (myself & 2 friends had the exact same colour car at the same time) 1968 F reg Ford cortina mk2 1600GT 1971 J reg triumph 1500 FWD 1974 Ford Granada my 1st Auto, its now 1977 i'm 22 & i'm driving Routemaster buses through central London route number 30
  14. in your circumstances i can see the benefit of using an agent,
  15. good for you, you pay the agent, to save 20 minutes as well
  16. its a big shop, nuts bolts, sheet metal guttering etc, in an outside non aircon section on the left as looking at it , tools, paint household stuff etc, in the right hand side which has aircon, worth spending some time in there as has a good selection of stuff, when leaving there is a u turn a short distance away.
  17. take the 36 road heading towards rayong/ trat, go past the roadworks at the 331 junction, keep driving and you come over the brow of a hill, maybe 10km, and then a petrol station with a macdonalds, hardware house is immediately prior to that, paint cans are on the far left of the aircon section of the shop. good hunting
  18. hardware house on the 36 road do a 2k range of motorcycle paint colours, also do a clear coat
  19. you need to obtain a non immigrant 'O' visa first in order to apply for a yearly extension, so its 30 day visa exempt entry stamp, ( a 30 day extension on this entry is possible) then with 14 day still remaining on your 30 day permission to stay stamp, obtain at local immigration office (2000thb) a non 'O' visa giving you a 90 day permission to stay stamp, then in the last 30 days of that permission stamp apply for a yearly extension
  20. as others have posted you need to have 12 x 65,000thb showing as received from abroad, so this method is good for the 2nd year in Thailand. you would need 800,00thb in a bank account in your name only to obtain your 1st yearly extension, you could obtain a one off 60 day visit Thai wife extension to give you more time to raise the 800,000thb. as others have posted you could obtain multi entry non 'O' married to a Thai visa from savannakhet to cover your 1st year, then use the monthly income route for the 2nd years 'retirement' yearly extension.
  21. we stayed at kacha over the 6 day weekend, 2 nights 30/31 hillside building 1,650thb per night, but no lift and lots of stairs, food, rooms and service very good, beach side for the 1st and 2nd were 1,300 thb per night,
