Pattaya city hosts art events to encourage its tourist attraction
Chelseafan replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
I hope they don't. Pattaya is a golden goose for the the pseudo-puritans in power and while they appreciate its worth they see it as a blight on their landscape. There are thousands of place like Penang but very few in the world like Pattaya. -

Germany’s Fourth Covid Wave: ‘A Pandemic of the Unvaccinated’
Chelseafan replied to Jeffr2's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
I am a smoker but would be happy if it was banned, sadly though it raises nearly 5% of total tax receipts for the UK and no Government is going to be that courageous . It costs the NHS £2.5b a year to treat smokers but is offset by £9b from taxation on ciggarettes - obviously these figures do not include indirect costs such as loss of producitivty Alcohol is a bigger burden on the NHS than smoking at £3.5b a year - Let's ban that too... -

Lets hope they do though how they implement it is beyond me. Random checks? Sounds a tad facist to me. -
It’s expats, not tourists that are visiting Thailand: Business leader
Chelseafan replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If only it would be so but the sad reality is that his comments will get no serious airtime on mainstream Thai media and even if TV did broadcast his statement, the government will do all they can to belittle him or even damage his reputation. -

Thai cabinet approves ฿20bn loan to reduce diesel prices

Didn't someone try to control the price of rice a few years ago....Just saying... -
Tried that before, they arrived 2 hours late. As with most things in Thailand, I find its just better to do it yourself rather than rely on other peoples tardiness. Also my hotel is only a few miles from the airport.
-
Yes, This being Thailand and all, I was more worried that due to Covid controls the authorities wouldn't let me in without a flight ticket.
-
Thanks. Yes, that has crossed my mind but got to assume I'll be OK. Can always cancel the reservation

I am looking to rent a car from Suvarnabhumi Airport. On arrival, I will be whisked away to a local hotel for the 1 day quarantine. This may be a silly question but I assume I can go back to the airport the following day to pick up the hire car from 2nd floor ?

Emirates to restart A380 Bangkok operations

What they fail to say is that the FC ticket price is 40% more expensive than pre-Covid. -
Here's the translated text Yep I agree. I'm going in December to hook up with family and I'll be mightily peeved if I can't get a "legal" beer in a bar.
-
I hope they open on Dec 1st but comments from his highness telling establishments to "stop being selfish" don't bode well. If they don't open bars/clubs until after Christmas then they should put up a disclaimer on the Thai Pass system saying so. (tongue-in-cheek)

Whilst I should have titled it "possible no drinking until January" the article included the following :- "However, at the meeting of the Ministry of Public Health today (9 Nov. Y. 64) there were discussions about the measures to open pubs, bars, karaoke, entertainment venues after the new year 2022, which this issue will be proposed to the Prof. meeting tomorrow (10 Nov. Oh, my God. . 254) for further consideration of the approach. " You stated the article said "that the CCSA will discuss the possibility of opening bars when they meet again on Friday" Stop spreading misinformation
-
My bar-owner-fried said the same but I posted earlier (now deleted) that the CCSA are considering post christmas opening of bars - Should find out next week.

Chelseafan replied to ubonjoe's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This has probably been mentioned before but I suspect most of us are applying for the Thai Pass as we have a vested interested in Thailand HOWEVER How frickin' insane do you have to be to go through all this hassle as a first-time tourist ? If I meet you in Thailand then I'm giving you a very wide berth!!!!!! ???? -

Applied today, no middle names on vaccine certificate but middle names on passport. No issues, in fact it took 7 mins for them to authorise. If they are being manually checked then maybe some of them are more lenient than others -

Thanks. I understand all that. I'm more worried about uploading the vaccine certificate with an expiry 2D barcode date of 6th Dec. If the Thai authorities notice that and see I am travelling on 19th dec (whereby that particular barcode would have expired) will they still authorise me to travel or not.
