  1. You have "JustGrab" or "GrabCar" etc which have a fixed fare. GrabTaxi does not, it only estimates what it should be and you pay fare from meter + fee. But - if you chose JustGrab and you still got charged meter+fee, then you should report this to Grab in application for a refund. The bad part, of course, is possible retaliation from the driver, so it's probably not worth it.
  2. That article can't all be the truth. Just see this: She's fluent in four languages? Which languages would that be, as English and Slovenian are certainly not part of that, and given I've heard her conversation with a Serbian woman (one of languages Slovenians her age are generally good at) also didn't make a D, let alone A. And if this sentence is a complete fabrication, what makes you think there is any truth in the rest of it?
  3. Not to be pedantic, but... If you know yourself, then you cannot be sure that nobody you know got COVID, since you never cared enough to get tested for it, when you had flu-like symptoms, so you might have had it, but due to lack of testing didn't get it confirmed. I did have it, though. And a couple of tests confirmed it. That was one of the earlier Omicron variants. And here's my experience with it... Several times before I had a relatively nasty flu. Tested - negative each time. This one time, I had a bit of headache, lack of energy like if I didn't sleep well the night before, basically just like a mild cold... I was going to see someone at the airport, and just to show I don't have it, I took the test - 2 lines. Can't be. Tried a few more tests. All positive. Dang! OK, I have heard that vitamin C and Zinc apparently helped treating it... maybe symptoms were yet to come so I wanted them to be milder... had it fridge, started taking it... 3 days later, all tests turn negative. Symptoms? Basically none. My partner's experience: Had a sore throat. Tonsillitis, she thought. Went to hospital but she was asked to take COVID test in a tent in front of building first - positive. Talked to doctor on the video call, gave her a bunch of symptom treating medications, specifically stating that antibiotics don't work for virus, so she could only have that herbal stuff Thailand promoted, some paracetamols, NAClong, etc. Symptoms getting worse by the minute. Got get Amoksiklav. 2 days after starting to take it, all symptoms were gone, despite still having 2 lines on the test. A few days later, the lines disappeared as well. So it's pretty obvious that her symptoms were from something bacteria-related and had little or nothing to do with COVID. So yes, that raised a lot of questions on what we were really having and what we were really treating. I'll leave it at that, though.
  4. And what difference does that make? Setting high moral standards? I think her taking of nude photos, or even escorting, was far less damaging or immoral than what majority of people in high positions have done to get there. Most, if not all politicians included.
  5. That's what all those people around POTUS are for, to filter information and set the narrative. Which makes you wonder what they are hiding this time around. That said - physically Trump seems healthier than what he did in his first term.
  6. 😵 Ya sayin' this ain't gonna work? Just kidding, just kidding
  7. Yeah... who knew? Everyone coming up with the legislation should have.
  8. It is very simple, in my opinion. Government needs money. Their very narrow view of people being stupid, stipulated them to tax the income of investors to foreign markets, expecting a big payday. But it turned out those people weren't stupid and instead stopped sending any money back to Thailand, causing a big dent in local investment. The government realised people weren't that stupid, and are now reversing the rule (until next election), where foreign income can be brought into Thailand without any taxes, because... well, they are broke... In style of Aseannow: This reversal underscores Thailand's strategic push toward flip-flop legislation, laying groundwork for enhanced economic benefits from population's investment skills and good luck. As finance ministry navigates these uncertain times in search of the next idea to empty residents' pockets, Thailand embraces an "easy in, hard out" approach to replace the "rob them now" approach which achieved the opposite of expected result.
  9. From that BKK Post article: Mr Panuwat said "the current rules on taxing foreign income have discouraged Thais investing abroad from bringing their money back into the country." No s**t, Sherlock, really?
  10. Lived 13 years in Phyathai, where most things were less than 15 minutes away. What the article does not mention, is: - crowds of rude tourists - the smell of garbage, especially at night - flooding after any downpour lasting more than 15 minutes - traffic jams most of the day - air pollution - noise pollution - pickpockets and scammers - every darn anti-government protest had to happen exactly there - and all those bullets flying around during red uprising... So yes, it was convenient. But the downsides outweighed the benefits of living there.

  15. A bit sad former FBI director wouldn't know what 86 stood for, but then again, neither did I until 5 minutes ago. I was never FBI director, though...
  16. I thought someone mistyped her age as 29 instead of say 39, but when original article in no unclear terms showed he made her pregnant at 13... yes, why is he not locked up?
  17. Suay told police that she met Carl on the island of Koh Samui, in the southern province of Surat Thani in 2008, when she was 13 years old. Carl was reportedly 27 years old at that time. Suay became pregnant with their daughter, Em, but she later discovered that Carl was already married in Sweden. Carl’s legal wife subsequently sued him for taking away and sexually abusing a minor, which led to the Swedish man returning to his country and receiving a two-year prison sentence. Don't think anything is lost in translation. That's from Thaiger article.
